Amazing for the price

Sep 14, 2014

The Lumix 45-150mm f4 is super compact and very light. Lengthwise it is long as the Canon 50mm F1.4. Extremely compact for a 300mm field-of-view (equivalent). It works amazingly well on my Olympus OM-D E-M10. Fast AF. There is no on-off switch on the lens for stabilization as with other Panasonic's. It really made no difference. Stabilization was controlled automatically by the camera body. AF during video was completely silent and fast. Manual f... Show More

Quality Kit Lens at a Low Price

May 4, 2013

Most of my photography needs are satisfied with a 'normal' zoom (I have the Pany 12-35mm f2.8) and a couple of primes (the Pany 20mm and Oly 45mm) for lower-light situations. But I wanted a small, light longer zoom to stick in the corner of my camera bag for occasional daylight tele shots (so no need for speed!). This 45-150mm fits the bill. For the price, image quality in daylight is very good, it's responsive and quick to focus, and it balances... Show More

Nice smaller telephoto

Apr 20, 2018

This came with my GX85 which I am thankful for, because the kit lens that came with it wasn't that great between not having manual focus and a narrower aperture which means no blurring of the background- which isn't the case with this lens though the f stop value isn't great a 4- there is still a lot of compression happening with the backgrounds which makes the subject stand out. I'm used to shooting plants with wide angles and fisheyes so this h... Show More

Perfect Telephoto Zoom

Jul 21, 2015

I won't claim to be a professional photographer or even an experienced one, cause I'm not. The Lumix GM1 is my first camera years and my first interchangeable lens camera ever, so I'm writing this review from the perspective of an amateur. Now with that out of the way, I think this lens is fantastic. For me it's sharp at all focal lengths and apertures. It provides great portraits with a very pleasant blurred background. Nice Lens

Apr 28, 2013

I haven't had it long enough to write a comprehensive review. So far, I've used it around the house to acclamate myself and used it in a field session yesterday for the first time. I was happy to be able to capture the distant image of a railroad bridge under a street bridge, I'd say about 1.5 to 2 miles away. Have only reviewed the images in camera but was able to see clarity in the bridges at both 45 and 150mm. I also captured some railroad car... Show More

A good standard telephoto lens for a good price

Oct 10, 2017

I received this lens for free when I purchased my GX85. I was originally looking at getting the Panasonic 35-100mm f/2.8 as I like that focal length for a standard telephoto. So far I have not found any reasons to upgrade to that lens yet. There have been a few times I would have preferred the extra stops of light with 35-100mm but this lens has been more than adequate so far. I would highly recommend it for any new photographers who are looking ... Show More

Perfect micro four thirds lens

Jun 15, 2013

This is a great lens for the micro four thirds system. It is small (almost the same size as the 14-42mm kit lens), lightweight and balances perfectly on my G3. The lens is so light that it can also be used on the smaller GF3 body with ease.I haven't tested the lens in daylight yet but have taken a few pics indoors. The focusing is silent but the lens can have slight trouble focusing in low light...but then this is a lens built for the great outdo... Show More

Great 90-300mm Performance for Micro 4:3

Aug 27, 2014

Bought this lens to replace my Olympus 40-150. Compared to my copy of the Olympus this lens appears to be a little sharper at the short & long end. But the difference is nothing major. Build wise this lens is better than the Olympus and feels nicer in your hand. Lens looks expensive and has a metal mount. The zoom ring & manual focusing rings turn very smoothly & it has no zoom creep. If your primary body is a 5 axis Olympus camera & you can live... Show More

Bang for the buck

Jan 16, 2018

Great telephoto for travel: small, light and good range. Comparing it to the original Lumix 45-200mm, it's shorter, lighter, a little sharper and has better color rendition. The zoom ring on the 45-150 is a little stiff, but it doesn't have zoom-creep, which the 45-200 does have, and it's really annoying. I haven't done a lot of pixel peeping, but cropping a photo taken with this lens at 150mm yields the same or better results as an uncropped pi... Show More

Well Built But Slightly Soft

Jul 22, 2015

I had high hopes for this lens. It was to be primarily used with various small Panasonic digital camera bodies for travel but sadly the image quality was not there. I had been using an Olympus 40-150 R lens for travel which produces very good image quality but lacked the Image Stabilization that would come in handy under lower lighting conditions. However, I found the Panasonic lens slightly soft which was unrecoverable in Photoshop. I will admit... Show More

Good, not great images.

Nov 12, 2016

Bought this over the Olympus 40-150mm f/4-5.6 because it is slightly smaller (especially when fully extended), has smaller filter thread, and has better build quality. Was hoping that the image quality would be as good as the Oly, but I am afraid it just is not quite as good. I'm not a pixel peeper, but the Olympus just looks sharper to my eye. Images are good enough, I'll keep it for the small form factor and build. I don't shoot tele-photo ofte... Show More

Fine introductory Superzoom

Aug 29, 2014

I bought a Panasonic GX7 as a fun alternative to lugging around my Canon 7D when out and about. Because I thought the kit 14-42mm might be a bit limited I ordered the 14-150mm. Some people have said that it's too soft at the long end. I'm am enthusiast, so it'll do for until I can afford something faster like the 35-100mm f2.8. The attached photos give some idea of what you might expect hand-held at maximum zoom. I only had my first play real today, so it's possible that the photos might get sharper with more experience with the camera

Inexpensive Zoom

Nov 9, 2013

I always desire the best of everything but finances always get in the way. This lens is great for the money. It does everything I expected but it's a little slow. I'd like faster, but faster means bigger diameter lenses, more glass, more polishing, I understand. I have a hard time justifying more money for one lens than I spent on the camera. That said, this lens works great as long as there's plenty of light. Most of my telephoto shots are outside during the day so, I am more than satisfied with this purchase.

good price but there's dust in my copy

Apr 11, 2013

i got this lens as part of the panasonic dmc-g5 bundle, but unfortunately, while the lens looks nice and the zoom range is very useful, the copy i received has dust stuck inside, sticking on the rear lens element. i initially intended to return this lens but unfortunately, i have shipped this lens and the camera outside of the U.S., so i will end up spending more on shipping it back. i hope my next purchases here will result in items that are well inspected for defects like dust and scratches before shipment.

A very good starting Telephoto lens

Nov 4, 2015

Obviously, there are better options out there especially premium-grade lenses but if you consider the price you pay and the range you get. This is a very good starting Telephoto lens especially if you are new to photography. You'll get pleasing results without breaking the bank. This lens works great when used in good lighting conditions and still workable in low-light given you know your limits. The zoom ring feels good and very smooth to turn. I wish the Manual focus ring was a bit more tighter than it is.

Affordable and Powerful

May 4, 2015

Using with a Panasonic Lumix GH4 for video, mostly as a secondary camera on a tripod. Glad this lens has OIS so if I do go off the shoulder the image is stabilized. Only complaint would be that the rings (zoom and focus) are of hard plastic rather than a rubber or softer plastic. I use a Varavon SLING Follow Focus lever on my LUMIX 14-45 (B&H#VASFFB) and it sort of works on this lens, but the soft rings on the 14-45 grip the focus lever better. That's a small complaint for a great lens tho.

very practicle Bag

Sep 18, 2017

The size of the bag is really good to bag your Mac Pro 13 in addition to all its cables and I pad Pro 9.7. I was surprised how easy was it to finally carry one bag having the items I need. It is small and practical and has many compartments to add all those little stuff in addition to pens. It is well built to last and make carrying it easy and the strap is wide enough to guarantee painless carrying of what ever weight in the bag. I really loved the bag and I foresee being another for work.

Too soon to tell

Mar 1, 2013

Still learning how to use it and the menus/interface. Electronic viewfinder takes a bit of getting used to. As everyone has complained, the kit lens that comes with it sticks when you use the zoom- when you turn the lens ring to zoom in or out it is not smooth. I suspect because it is plastic inside with no metal gears. Feels like just plastic against plastic resulting is a jerky action. I gave the camera 4 stars for potential- once I get more familiar with it I'm sure it will be 4 stars.

Might return it

Aug 16, 2017

Using on a Panasonic GF-1 micro 4/3, so this lens is native to the camea. Lens has nice focal range and light capture, takes good images, but does not play well with autofocus. Will focus ok the first time, but refocusing on a new target is a fail. Having to turn camera off/on to get new focus when in autofocus mode. Haven't read all instructions yet, so there may be other tricks available. But I thought autofocus would, you know, automatically focus.

Great Lens!

Apr 18, 2019

Im an amateur photographer who enjoys taking outdoor nature shots and closeups of wildlife in my yard and places that I walk, especially birds. Due to my little experience I cant compare this lens to others for you BUT I can tell you the lens is easy and exciting to use, bringing animals and birds up close and personal. B&H Photo has a great website, their communications and delivery were prompt, friendly and efficient. Im a very happy customer.

This lens is my favorit when I travel with family ,I use it almost only outside beceause you need some disatance between you and the subject. I cannt say it is the sharpest of my lenses but sharpness is not the most important thing , fun is the most important!!! Portraits are easy with this lense although the background is not so blured due to small aperture. My friend had a 45-200mm lumix and it is so big!!! mine is small and light.I love it

Nice light telephoto zoom for Panasonic

Feb 13, 2013

This compact telescopic zoom len is about the same size and weight as my Panasonic 14-45mm lens. My hands aren't always super steady, but because of the light weight of the lens and image stabilization I can get crisp images without a tripod, even at the upper reaches of the zoom range. Most of the photos I take with this lens are in the 45-100mm range, and the image quality is excellent, certainly equal to that of the 14-45mm zoom.

I bought this lens on sale recently and had the chance to take it on a road trip - impressive. Especially for the $ off sale price. I've needed an auto focus telephoto for my cameras and had been looking at the Olympus version . . . I'm so glad I waited. Granted it's not the fasted lens but performs like a champ nontheless Solid build, sharp images, what's not to like. Plus an included lens hood? Thank you Panasonic and B&H Photo.

A real bargain

Mar 8, 2013

This is an excellent mid-range telephoto. Light and compact and balances nicely on my GX1. The lens is sharp and if it were any faster it would not be so light and compact. I can live with the slowness in exchange for something I will actually carry around for a travel lens. At the moment the silver version is 20% less than the black lens and is a real bargain at this price. Sample photos are at 45 and 150mm
