Built a better mouse

Mar 11, 2013

I'm a hardcore Mac fan. But this is a better mouse. Took a refresher Photoshop class (up to Creative Suite 6) and teacher said kill the white mouse. He recommended trying Logitech, and I did. I tried the hand feel of everything out there, as one spends a great deal of time scrolling. Fits great, extra buttons handy, duh, and cord is too long, which is better than too short. Should have done this decades ago, although it's not as pretty.

It's a keeper

Jan 21, 2013

I use this at home for just about everything, surfing, email, games, excel etc. It has a very smooth glide to it. The l/R buttons are very sensitive causing accidental clicks while playing card games (can be annoying). The mouse pointer moves differently than my old MS IE optical mouse, I have fine tuned it but it still is a little different action than I'm use to. Also I find the middle button too difficult to depress. My workaround is changing ... Show More

Functional Mouse

Sep 22, 2012

I use this mouse for basically everything. It's very functional, has a great scroll wheel which can be changed to scroll super fast at the press of a button, working on almost frictionless magnets. This comes in very handy sometimes as well as the back and forward buttons which are great for web browsing and windows exploring.

Simply Good

Mar 28, 2012

I bought this mouse because the apple wireless one I have uses batteries too quickly. It has all the necessary buttons in the right positions as well. If I could buy one with all the same features and design but just slightly larger in the palm I would.

another good Logitech

Mar 18, 2012

I got the M500 to replace my MX500, which was eight years old (but still working fine with another computer). The M500 is just as comfortable as the earlier model. Its scroll seems to work fine; the horizontal scroll works especially well in large photo files at 100% view. And the Logitech Control Center allows of customization. I haven't yet used it in my DAW (Reaper), but I'm sure it will work as well there as in Photoshop.

Nice budget mouse

Mar 15, 2012

Ergonomic, right-handed, 2 extra buttoms covering the basic for browsing and etc. Good price and also reliable. It's not a ground break mouse, but in this price point, if it not one of the best, it put a realy tough fight.

My perfect mouse

Bought this newer version of the same mouse I've been using for a few years. The newer wheel design is a nice improvement. Works for everything I need.

Nice mouse!

Feb 3, 2012

Hand fits around the mouse nicely and the toggle for the wheel works well. The forward/back buttons take a little getting-used-to, but work well after that. The buttons are a little more sensitive than I am used to, but that may go away after becoming acustomed to them.

Great Mouse for Macs

Dec 5, 2011

I love Mac machines, but the mice they ship with leave a good bit to be desired. The Mighty Mouse tracking wheel kept getting dirty and cleaning it is nearly impossible. The newer mice have a touch surface, but lack a good bit of the button-based control I liked for Spaces and other things. I decided to give the Logitech M500 a chance and LOVE IT!! This is actually my second one and I bought it to put on another machine. There is a great applicat... Show More

Simple and good

Aug 19, 2011

I am using this mice on mac os and it works as expected. Quality is good I just wish they had corded mice with more options. I had an apple mighty mouse which I replaced it because the scroll ball always get dirty and stopped working. In comparison I prefer the horizontal scroll of the mighty mouse, but the one in the m500 is also ok. The back button is in a very comfortable position and can be customized, but the forward button is hard to reach.

Great Mouse

Aug 7, 2011

I switched back to a corded mouse because it's batter-free, and I don't regret it for a second. I bought a cable clip to tame the cord and it's working out well. I use a Macbook Pro. The grip is very comfortable (I'm right-handed) and I especially love the smooth scrolling wheel. It's quite fun to use. It performs well on the screen. The mouse is good for games, too. I don't abuse it, but I feel that it can take on the load when it comes to mouse-based games.

Great Mouse

Jul 17, 2011

I am a programmer that is at my computer a lot. I have always loved the Logitech mice with the clutched scroll wheel. The ergonomic design of this mouse feels great. My only complaint is completely objective. The wheel is the middle click button while the little button below the wheel is the clutch toggle. The difficulty this creates is when I'm using the middle click to open a web link in a new tab and I move the wheel as I attempt to click it, ... Show More

Pretty cheap..

Jun 23, 2011

Was going to replace my Logitech G5 with this mouse because of the scroll wheel that was advertised to preform really well. It only took a few minutes to realize how poor this mouse felt compared to my G5. The buttons especially felt very cheap and while the scroll wheel was easier to scroll, it still didn't feel solid. The mouse also doesn't move as smoothly on a mouse pad as my G5. It has a very scratchy feeling and sound when it moves like the entire mouse bottom is touching the pad and not just the feet.

Tried and True

May 12, 2011

The reason I bought this exact mouse is because my first one (going on 6 years now) is not only still rock solid to this day, but I couldn't imagine a better overall, everyday mouse. The shape and size is a very comfortable fit, the tracking is excellent (even for detailed Photoshop work), and the additional buttons are just where they need to be. It's for all these reasons that I had to purchase a 2nd one for my laptop bag. Now I'll never leave home without it.

Back To A Simple Corded Mouse

May 12, 2011

I have a Wacom Tablet that also used a wireless mouse (that needed no batteries). That mouse needed replacement but is no longer made so I bought an Apple Magic Mouse as a replacement for those times when I use a mouse. BIG MISTAKE. It burned through batteries at an alarming rate and the magic touch surface, while fun and impressive, had it's drawbacks, namely it was so sensitive as to change value entries in fields and was incompatible with Goog... I love this mouse!

Apr 14, 2011

I recently purchased a Mac Pro. It amazes me that after spending all this money on a new Mac, they include a mouse that's terrible. This Logitech mouse is really great. It allows you to scroll down a page very fast, or slowly; at your own pace.

Great Mouse

Mar 3, 2011

I bought this mouse about a month ago, and I am surprised to say I'm really happy with it. I play many video games, from RTS to FPS to WoW, and this mouse functions well enough for all of them. Often times I find that the fit of the mouse limits one type of game, but not in this case. The design allows you to hold the mouse how you need/want to, so it really has a perfect broad functionality.

comprimise in functionality & usability

Jan 17, 2011

I've got one at work and one at home. This is the perfect mouse for me. The ergonomics are great, I love the browsing buttons. Personally I don't get the need for a wireless mouse, just an added annoyance of replacing batteries. The scroll wheel toggle button is a bit unnecessary I suppose. I rarely need to scroll that quickly so it stays in slow scroll mode 99% of the time.

good corded mouse

Oct 3, 2010

I was addicted to the back button near thumb position back in 2000. All my mouse since has one. With this particular mouse, I like how the button to change scrolling gears is on top making it easy to switch back and forth. I bought this mouse because I didn't want any chance of interference from other wireless devices for what I do. I'm glad Logitech still make these. I gave it only 4 stars because it's louder than the newer Logitech wireless Marathon mouse.
