Always used WD drives and always have good results. My current setup has it attached to a Linksys EA9500 via the USB port. In this case, a couple of notes. The drive wasnt accessible until I reformatted it to NTFS. Did not come out of the box that way. Western Digital drives just work. As a Mac user, I just reformat and plug it in. You cant beat the simplicity and price.

Tons of storage for not a lot of money
Just received it, (took 2 weeks to NZ!!) and got it connected, formatted, and put to work. So far so good. Always good value from B&H. Delivery time could be improved I think!

Manufacturing defects
Received two defective units in a row, third was a Seagate, works works great and is much quieter than my WD drives, western digital is not what it once was.

Loud.
In the last 20 years I have used just about every flavor of external drive for redundant backup. I currently have 3 plugged in and running right now. It is whisper silent. Best Hard Drives
I have been using WD hard drives for many years and never had a problem with the drive. I have used other brands also, but with some failures. Good produce well worth the cost. B&H always has just what I need and a good price.

lost my mony
I was very excited to get this as my computer had just crashed. I needed to make it a internal drive so I removed it from the case installed it and it would not work - now I cant get my money back and I received a bad drive.

Decent shuck drives
Hi, I cant say much about the USB operation, as i shuck both drives, they are working on a DIY server. If you shuck them know that if you use a standard ATX psu, the drives wont start with sata power, you either need a Molex to Sata power, this will make the 3.3v connection not affect the starting of the drive. The drives have a high pitch noise, inaudible inside a case at 1mt, but on my test bench i could easily pick it up. That said, they work great on unraid or whs,

Enough Room to Roam
It really is about the size of a book. The unit is reasonably quiet and does not seem to generate much heat for such a large capacity drive. I have not really tested the data transfer rate but it does seem to be fast enough. Its nice to have lots of spare space.

Great value, but noisy
Great value for the money...The drive is a little noisier than I expected. But then again, this for backup purposes only which I do every monrh. I can live with the noise for the price!

Works as expected
The hard drive is used as a backup usb drive. I did perform a full reformat to NTFS - took about 18 hours with no detectable errors. I have already used about 60% and am pleased with it.

Great for backups
Had my eye on the 8TB version and the 10TB went on sale, so I snapped it up. Am using it to back up my NAS. Takes awhile since its only USB 3.0, but it seems to get the job done. Easy to set up and use, too.

Most economical way to stuff NAS with WD RED drives
Outstanding! It took 5 minutes to harvest the drive from it.WD100EZAZ-11TDBA0 is what inside. Works fine with Synology 918+

Did you expect exFAT?
The two Western Digital My Book WEWDBBGB0100 10TB USB 3 drives I received were exFAT formatted and were immediately recognized on my Windows 7 machines. In theory any Mac OS newer than Leopard can also read and write to an exFAT disk, making it ideal for drives that are moved between Windows and Mac machines. Good, with a couple of caveats.
Even though I got this 10Tb external hard drive on sale and it actually works, a couple of little things would have rated an additional one each. #1 - Once installed it tells me its really only a 9.1 Tb drive. I didnt expect the full 10Tb, but a 10% loss? Very poor. #2 - Lack of any sort of activity lights or explanation of such. You dont know if the dang thing is awake, asleep, transferring data, or whatever.

Not recognized on a MacBook or PC Windows 10
Weve purchased over 30+ external drives (Seagates & WD) over the years for archiving that plugged in and played immediately. Im sure this drive performs well but going to WD site and downloading software to make it functional (hopefully) is bogus. It should be noted on the product page. We returned it. Was told the drive came with great backup software already installed, Acronis? Turns out the software is NOT on the drive, but there is a way to obtain a free download of that software. The kicker is, that software will not work if youre trying to backup a Seagate external hard drive, which is why a bought the WD My Book. Unreliable for me
It takes forever to mount. The connection drops resulting in lost work. It is not the solution for my work flow. Im in the process of replacing it.

Died after 1 day
Western Digital is the worst. This drive took forever to mount initially, and to format. Then would not mount at all. Spend many hours trying to revive, but after speaking to WD support they said it was dead and to return. Cheap junk.

Good but making weird noise
Workimg good so far, but sometimes it makes weird noises, and you can feel its vibration on the desk. A little annoying for my taste.
