Basically amazing

Oct 2, 2014

I've been a canon user for years, even made a living with their products. I recently gave up the photo living to pursue another dream so I thought I'll just downsize. I picked up the a6000 after reading some tech reviews. I have to say, this little mirrorless camera blows away every piece of canon equipment Ive ever used. The purists will disagree but when it comes down to it, nobody is looking at an image at 300% and evaluating pixels other than... Show More

Rebooted my love for photography

May 27, 2018

I'm by no means a newcomer to digital photography: from the first Canon Rebel all the way to three Samsung mirrorless cameras, my fascination with portrait and close up photography has reached another level: the Sony A6000 and a couple of Sony lenses allow me to capture the world around me and it seems I'm getting a little recognition from my weddings and portrait work (it's all fun and learning). The outstanding capabilities of the A6000 and ton... Show More

Really good travel camera with some caveats

Aug 30, 2015

I have used this camera very extensively now to make some judgement. I like the layout and position of buttons and dials, as well as the menu, even though I think Fuji X-T1 has a better layout and menu. It focuses really fast and accurate and in dimmed light with a fast lens is quite good but not excellent. Color rendition is great but not as accurate like my Canon 5D3. High ISO noise performance for images detail is also really good considering ... Show More

Great pictures but getting them is the problem

Dec 13, 2018

I wanted to like this little mirrorless camera. I had heard so much about it I thought it was a sure fire winner but there are problems. First, the menu is a total disaster. It takes forever to figure out and to set the camera up. The manual supplied with the camera is quite thin and of little benefit. I had to use google to find out what is what and how to do what. Second, all the buttons have the same feel to them so you always have to look awa... Show More

I had the company that I work for buy two of these cameras since our Nikon D5300's are 3 years old and well past a 250,000 shutter count. We purchased these around the middle of December 2017 and have been using them daily to take photos of cars at our dealership. We take about 500+ photos daily. I noticed last week that my camera when I turned it on would immediately lock focus without me even touching the shutter button. When it's like this I c... Show More

Suffers from poor auto focus, bloated menus, jpg processing.

Jul 5, 2018

This much-hyped camera has it's good points which do not need to be mentioned here. Instead, videographers and phototgraphers should be aware of three things which I felt made this camera sub-par for my use as an interview camera. 1. Extremely poor auto-focusing mechanism. This camera could rarely hold a face in focus if that face was moving in the frame. This is unacceptable for a camera in this price range. 2. The most basic and ... Show More

Great Camera with little Flaws

Dec 7, 2016

This is a wonderful camera. According to the majority of websites that I've done research on, this camera outshines the 6D and even the 5D Mark III. That was hard to believe so I decided to get it to test it out and boy I wasn't disappointed. This camera is perfect for travel, being lightweight and compact enough to carry around with you, which was quite a struggle with a conventional DSLR. I'll just list out the pros and cons from my experiences... Show More

I waited 10 years to purchase a camera. My last camera was a Canon back in 2004 and ever since it was stolen, I've never had the motivation to buy another camera. I've borrowed a camera from friends, used my sister's camera, camera phone, etc.. I guess I waited a little too long but it was worth the wait - this camera is amazing. Look, you need to play with the settings. With the out of the box features in play, it's just not that impressive, but as soon as you learn where the features are in this camera it's incredible power comes out. The autofocusing is creepily intelligent, even registering specific faces (hugely useful in event photography, or if traveling to tourist destinations with family) for long term tracking. My second a6000!

Jul 8, 2015

My first a6000 is a chameleon--hardly ever with the same lens. I've learned so much about its capabilities, with both modern Sony and legacy lenses, that I feel I've become a better photographer. I do nature, street, people, and this 16-50mm lens is just right for most of them. The OSS is the best among my lenses, perfect for grab shots and waist-level shooting. The fold-out screen is still subtle enough that people don't know or don't care what ... Show More

I purchased the Sony Alpha a6000 as a travel camera, something smaller and lighter than my dslr. With the 35mm prime lens, it takes great sharp photos with true colors. The 24 mp resolution is very nice. The control dial at the top makes switching modes easy. I like the electronic viewfinder and tilt screen. The A6000 is a great little camera, very lightweight and easy to carry, but B&Hs kit leaves some things to be desired. 1 No battery charger is included, they intend for you to charge the battery inside the camera from a USB connection.
