Essential affordable gear

Aug 6, 2019

If you have a studio and you play alone, probably you won't need this but, once your project starts to grown and you need more musicians around you will need one of these. We're 5 in the studio and this makes a lot easier for us to get a pure version of the mix. It only has 4 outputs with a volume adjustment, in the back you have more 4 outputs but you can't adjust your volume independent from the front outputs. I was surprised how much volum... Show More

Good value but fragile.

Feb 15, 2019

A decent sounding unit with sensible features for the price.Downsides are the input knobs are very closely grouped and the unit feels a bit flimsy but so far so good....its also very light but I have it held down on a shelf .... as a free standing unit I could see it going flying very easily!

Does the job, for everyday applications.

We've been using this headphone amp with the band on our rehearsals for a about year, and we have no complaints so far. Sound is ok even in high volumes.

It is a very good stuff for the "silent" rehearsal. It does not have cons, because I get what I want. I like to use it on a daily basis.

Great for tracking

Nov 29, 2017

I use this in my studio to drive the headphones used by musicians when recording. There are four headphone outputs on the front, that can deliver one of two different mixes to the musicians. Buttons for each headphone set select between the two possible monitor mixes, which are taken into the rear of the unit with balanced TRS jack sockets. Standard unbalanced jacks can be used too if you prefer. My DAW is at one end of the studio, and this ... Show More

Solid for the money

Aug 7, 2017

The amp has a decent amplification. Due to the probably cheaper input section it is mandatory to gain the unit properly to avoid noise. The Nobs feel kind of cheap and in the lower area of the potentiometers it is sometimes hard to regulate due to a lack of sensitivity. Possibly because linear pots were used rather than logarithmic ones. However, for anyone looking for a low-priced option to simply hear stuff in a recording or practicing environment the thing is good value for the money. For recording monitoring or mixing I would recommend a higher quality unit.

Hihgly functional headphone amp

Mar 23, 2017

This amp has 4 headphone outputs in the front and 4 in the back. The build quality is decent even though the device is all plastic, so it's safer to keep it at home than constantly transporting it. This amp does what it says and nothing more, don't expect a rugged device with a really professional feel to it. Also the amp is not rackable, so beware of that. Soundwise it gives a nice drive to larger headphones. Using this amp, my Sony MD... Show More

Good For The Money

Considering the B&H price tag, I'm happy with the Amp800. Sure, the outer housing is plastic, but the entire build itself seems sturdy. So, if the unit is not handled carelessly, it should hold up for a long time.

Very versatile

Sep 23, 2015

Lots of headroom before clipping, unlike the cheaper Behringer HP amps. Regularly use this to run up to 8 headphones simultaniously without any problems. Can run 2 mono or 2 stereo mixes at once which makes it very versatile. 3 years later still going strong.

Great both live and in the studio

Aug 25, 2015

The Behringer Amp800 is a great piece of equipment, both in the studio and live. I have used it to get extra mixes while recording and also both myself and my drummer have used it simultaneously for monitor mixes when playing live. It is really easy to use, suburbly built and the sound quality is excellent. For something so small and inexpensive it makes life much easier when gigging. Mine has been battered and bruised for around 2 years and still functions perfectly. I would seriously recommend this.

Ideal IEM if your on a budget ...

May 20, 2015

We've been having lots of problems at venues with monitor feed back, as we play a lot of acoustic instruments and use mics on stage. So we wanted to explore the idea of IEM. The Amp800 is terrific for the price. Being able to send 2 aux mixes it is very handy between vocalists and cajon and bass players. If you're expecting studio quality processing you'll be disappointed, but for our needs it is fantastic. It is worth using decent dua... Show More

I've had this amp for several years. For it's price it's proven worthy many times over. With it I have built headphone monitoring for musicians in semi-pro recording sessions several times with great success. The unit is small and very light, 24 cm wide plastic box. And as such I would recommend it to be mounted on a rack for it to stay safely in place (not that this wouldn't apply for any peace of gear). But as it is the amp l... Show More

Low cost Headphone amp that fits a purpose

Oct 1, 2014

I bought this back in Jan 2008 and ive used it probably 20-25 times since then, its a bit fiddly and made of plastic but I wasn't looking for something that won an award for style - just a H/P amp that gave me a split signal so we could all monitor our recording simultaneously. it does that job!

I have been using this hassle free for many years in my home studios. It's an amazing little piece of kit. I have used it to record four people at once. It has never let me down one. Highly recommended product.

Value for money

Jul 22, 2014

This headphone amplifier has a simple design, yet is versatile in use. In the back there are 2x2 TRS inputs (6,35mm) and 4 headphone outputs. The box is very light, which makes it portable. For a quick in-the-field session this will suit fine, your headphones will need more space. Knobs are a bit tiny but that's small factor for you. Sound quality is fine and I have used my Amp 800 for two years without any problems. After two years one could expect that the AC/DC adaptor wouldn't work, but it's fine. This box is good value for the price.

Ideal budget headphone amp for tracking

Apr 29, 2014

A little plasticy and not the robust bit of kit (not sure if it would handle being used live alot), but for the price it's an ideal way of getting extra headphone outputs (actually 2*4 stereo outputs) into your studio. Hence I'd generally only recommend this for tracking etc. (each output pair is switchable between two stereo inputs, so it's ideal for tracking with two different submixes). It wouldn't really suit a proper mixing situati... Show More

A simple, easy-to-use device with, for better or worse, Behringer build quality (meaning: I'd be perfectly happy to throw this in and out of a kit bag for location recording, be less happy if there was a risk of it being trodden on). All the features that you need to do 4-person location recording or kit out a home studio (when combined with a suitable recording interface, obviously), more than adequate sound quality and enough grunt to drive fou... I have one I these which I use most days simply for setting the right level for my in-ears while I track drums. It is great in that it has 4 output channels, in fact 8 different outputs themselves though wih each channel having 2, and it is as simple as it needs to be. However, while using mine the other day, all of a sudden my channel 1 seemed to just give up and produce only a harsh crackling noise. This happened on both outputs of that channel... Show More

After using a Behringer HA400 to record 2 albums with, I ventured to get the Behringer Amp 800 with considerably more bells and whistles. In a few words, functionality is excellent, however it's a pity that the labels on the front are under the items (which implies that it would be viewed from below).
