Spectacular lens

Aug 18, 2019

Eyed this lens for a while. Purchased this with a LAEA4 for use with my A7R III. Images from this combo are spectacular. Dont want to swap for the Sony FE 135 GM lens, as the rendering of the Sony Zeiss is special

Spectacular lens

Aug 5, 2019

I purchased this lens to use on my A7R II via a LAEA4 adapter and the results are spectacular. The sharpness and rendering of images are really special. Sony now has the GM FE 135 mm 1.8 lens for e-mount cameras, that supports eye AF and is super sharp. But I will stick with this lens as this lens combines sharpness with spectacular contrast that is truly special.

B&H Delivers Once Again

Feb 26, 2019

This is the fifth time I have purchased a used DSLR lens through B&H and, once again, I was blown away by the perfect condition and quality of the product. The lens was rated 9 condition, but when I opened the original box it was still packed as if the lens had never been removed from the box! Even the original warranty and inspection papers were inside as if they had never been touched. Upon further inspection it was obvious that the lens is in ... Show More

Number 1 Lens

I've had this lens since 2014 and it is absolutely the best lens in my bag. I feel fortunate for being able to buy it when it first came out and that it is and A-Mount. Like everyone else says, it is big and heavy, but that's the tradeoff when you see the results. I have done Sacramental events at church without using a flash and the 135 performed admirably in the low light. Your pictures will look stunning with this lens. If you're a seriou... Show More

Worth It!

Feb 3, 2018

Crisp details at f/1.8! Yes, the focal plane is razor thin, but when you nail it, it looks fantastic! Great portrait lens, and with an extension tube, it will do a quick fill in for "on the fly" macro shots. It has a screw drive focus, so it's a little slow, and noisy. In low light, it will hunt the entire range of the lens. . . back and forth! I ended up shooting manual, and with focus peaking, was able to nail a good ratio of shots. I love it f... Show More

Love this Lens!

Great optics! I use this lens on my A7RII using the LA-EA4 adapter. The AF is not the best on the adapter but shooting portraits mainly manual focus is not a problem. Sharpest lens I think I have ever use with excellent bokeh rendition... Sony please port these optics over to FE mount!!!!

The Best Lens in Sony's Lens Lineup

Aug 12, 2015

This is my first prime for my Sony a99 and this lens is purely outstanding in every regard. This is the BEST prime lens I have ever owned.Build Quality: 9/10It is an all-metal chassis and lens hood, it is quite hefty and as solid as a rock. This lens has the best build quality I've ever touched. I love waking up in the morning and touch it, the cold metal feel is amazing. I am also glad that Sony didn't put a rubber focus ring like in their zooms... Show More

Best 135 lens in the worlds

This is an amazing lens. I use it on the A7R and the results are amazing. The only lens that can compete with it its the Zeiss 135 2 APO, but without AF.

Truly amazing! Stunned!

I have a couple of Sony / Zeiss lenses, so I'm familiar with quality, etc of this line. I have the Zeiss 24-70 and the 85 1.4, in addition to the original Sony 70-200 2.8 G. This lens however blew me away. I had heard great things and always wanted to try. Managed to work it in as a rental on a recent photo shoot. Cut to the chase, now I own one. Beautiful colors, focus and detail is crazy. Was everything I hoped the 85 was when I bought that one... Show More

I would buy this product again

Dec 21, 2013

My budget required I choose between upgrading my Sony SLT A65 camera or getting this lens. I chose the lens and I'm glad I did. Although I'm a novice at best, I've received good compliments on some of the photos I took at a recent basketball game from a family member. Low light situations with a medium reach are the two reasons I bought this lens and I am very satisfied so far.

Spectacular Lens

I compared this lens to the Sigma 85mm f 1.4 because I wanted to do some portraits for my family and use it for nature photography. When comaring them side by side the Sigma was excellent but the Zeiss was magic. I have used it for protraits with spectacular results.Even though the Zeiss was almost twice the cost of the Sigma I think it is worth it. The only downside ids that the longer focal length make it so I have to stand farther back to get ... Show More

Image quality is stunning. I'm no professcional but can easily see the difference between this lens and my others. Contrast is rich and detalied. There is no distoration to speak of and the bokeh is creamy smooth. Just look at some of the reviews. Great for potraits, landscape.

Great Lens

Feb 17, 2012

This is my first lens 135MM lens and I love it. I recently attended a formal dance and in low light conditions this lens is superb. I photographed the evening's entertainment and the pictures were stunning. The lens is fast, quiet and everything one would want to photograph a wide range of subjects. I would certainly recommend it to anyone and everyone wanted crystal clear professional photographs. A really great lens and well worth the price.

What a nice lens

Feb 7, 2012

The lens is big, heavy but just so nice. I already own the 24-70 f2.8 from Zeiss. This one is even bigger. My test so far have been on a Sony A100 body. With the crop it makes a 200mm f1.8 tele. very nice but kind of slow focus for that. I was trying to caputre a cat running around in a room with low lighting. The pictures captured are very bright. This lens will definitle require some getting used to. I found my self shooting pretty much in Full ... Show More

Sharp, Sharp, Sharp.. I can not fault this lens. It performs as specified with no noticeable issues at all. Just finished a shoot at Disney's Animal Kingdom and captured incredible detail. I do use a 24MP camera that helps with fine detail, but the lens is just perfect. Imagine 1.8 at 135mm.

Im basically a streetshooter and like a sharp and fast lens, mostly primes. This lens is beautiful, sharp and with a creamy bokeh. Im using it with the Sony Alpha 850 Full Frame dslr and i'm getting excellent results. The lens is slightly heavy and should have weather sealing.

Great lens

I am using this lens on a Minolta Maxxum 7D and the lens functions like a 200 mm instead of a 135 mm. I needed a lens for taking gymnastics photographs (low light, no flash). I am getting superior photographs with this lens. I am an amateur, but some of the photos rival those taken by the professionals at the gymnastics meets. With the shallow depth of field, the gymnasts just pop out from the blurred background (bokeh), as long as I'm not too fa... Show More

Fantastic Lens

May 26, 2011

If I was any happier with this lens, I would have to be twins. I have wanted a Carl Zeiss lens for years and I am more than satisfied with it. I won't repeat all the positive things said in the above reviews, but I do agree with those reviewers. I will say this though. I find the auto-focus to be very quick and positive. Also, the narrow DOF possibilities are mind boggling. The auto-focus only works with the camera set on live view. Maybe that's ... Show More
