Amazingly fast!
This is such a huge upgrade from my 2008 mac tower! After running a test of the SSD, it reads out at 2000mb/s ! That is so fast! Great job Apple! Super sleek and fast

First iMac, second Apple product
Hi - I have built PC's since the 1980's. I still work on them extensively. I just switched to the iMac after my last home built PC failed. The high quality of the engineering of this machine just floors me. The quality of the display, the fast boot up time, the OS, ... well I'm amazed. I use this for large image editing/ finishing and video/music work. Replaced an older Mac Pro 3Ghz with it and it is amazingly faster. Love it.

Video editing dream machine!
I purchased the June 2017 5K 27 iMac to replace my 2012 15 MacBook Pro for video editing. The MacBook was passed down to a family member which gave me the opportunity to go back to a desktop. I ordered it with the 4.2GHZ processor, 1 TB SSD and 8GB of RAM then added another 32GB myself saving $300. Gorgeous computer
I am a professional photographer and needed a fast computer with a large screen. This computer is both. Plus, there is no better service than Applecare. If you ever called them you know what I mean.

Beware of External drive enclosures!!!
I have two AkiTio Thunder2 Quad External 4-Bay enclosures; TROUBLE in spades. This iMac will not boot from a cloned drive in these enclosures. I have them connected to the Thunderbolt ports using Apples adapter. Totally worthless. If they are connected to the iMac It takes almost 5 minutes to boot. Was on the phone with Apple support for over two hours yesterday. If any body has an external enclosure that works correctly with this iMac please post it here.

Great performance, noticeable fan noise.
This is my first iMac. I had been hobbling along with a 2010 Mac Pro for 7 years prior. This isn't actually that much faster than that because I made a lot of upgrades including a GPU that great improved my video editing performance. But in all other regards this Mac just works unlike my old Mac which was prone to issues. The only complaint I have is that the fan spins up a little more than I expected while doing CPU/GPU intensive tasks which I often do.

Apple's best iMac yet!
I've owned multiple iMac computers over the years, and the mid-2017 iMac with 5K Retina display is simply the best I've ever used. It's updated Retina display is gorgeous; the Intel Kaby Lake CPU is so blazingly fast, it blows my mind how quickly this machine boots up and is ready to go. Absolutely the best
I upgraded from a 2007 21 mac...i wante a bigger screen and more processing power for photo editing with Affinity Photo. This machine is everything i needed and hoped for. I got the intel 7 processor and the fastest radeon video card, so it shouldn't be obsolete for awhile.

Computer for a Photographer
I waited a year to replace my 8 year old Macbook Pro. I focus stack dozens of large file (44MP) photos, so I needed a powerful computer with plenty of RAM and an updated video card. I chose the 4.2 GHZ iMac with 8GB of RAM (upgraded to 32GB) and 1TB SSD. All together it makes every process I do so much faster than before. The 27 5K display now shows me when an image is tack sharp. I use the 2:1 and 4:1 image magnifiers now to check focus.

The machine comes with 8GB of DRAM and 1TB fusion drive. The graphics performance is about 6x faster than the old we bought six years ago.

This Is Amazing
I just replaced my 2007 iMac with 24 screen with this beauty. When viewing photos on my old iMac, I thought that maybe I should sell all of my photo gear back to B&H. Well, to make a long story short, it wasn't the photos, it was the monitor. My photographs look amazing on the 5K display. Of course the new iMac is faster, etc,etc, but it's the monitor!
