Seagate 3TB Expansion Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive
Great Hard Drive
Even though this hard drive is a little noisy, I have not had any issues. It is fast and responsive and needs minimal effort to setup. I would recommend it to anyone that needs to upgrade their storage for an affordable price.

It's a fast drive.
This drive seems to be a lot faster writing and reading data compared to my other drives. Since it is mainly an archival drive it doesn't get daily use, but I still feel it's faster.

Works as advertised
Worked right out of the box. Currently using as backup for multiple machines. Plugs into a powered USB hub with no problems. Will see how long it lasts, but so far so good.

Very reliable
This is my 5th Seagate 8TB drive and I have had no problems with any of them.Im an amateur photographer and these drives are perfect for everyday use or backup and a great price!!

Good quality drive
This is my third 8TB Expansion drive. I formatted it as a Mac Extended (Journaled) drive. It seems to be working great with the Mac. The other two drives were formatted as Windows 10 NTFS drives and have been in service for a couple of years. Absolutely no glitches yet. I have used many Seagate drives since the 1980s. Best Expansion Drive on USB 3.0(5Gb/s) speed
Works well on both OSX and Windows, no Linux tests yet. USB 3.0 speeds aren't my favorite, but they definitely can get the job done. Have an army of these things for backup footage and art assets for projects. Wouldn't recommend editing anything from these, they are just good for storage. No heat issues, all of mine are really quiet so unsure of the noise issues for others.

Good back up drive
I have recently bought and used this 8TB HD for my main work back up drive. Not quite as quick as an onboard unit for large data transfer but he way I do back ups in units it is working fine and size for cost has worked out well

Broken within a year
Looks turned on (light is illuminated), I hear a noise like it's trying to boot, but it no longer shows up on any computer I plug it into.

So far great
I think a review may be a bit premature, but so far the drive is working as expected. I transferred several hundred gig of pictures and it was as easy as click and drop. I am very pleased and would recommend this drive to.anyone. Also I dont find it excessively noisy at all.

It is a hard drive...and it works!
I bought this as an inexpensive option for backing up video files, and it works fine. I won't be using it for actual performance work like editing, but as a back up unit, you can't beat the cost relative to capacity. No problems so far, but I only bought it a couple weeks ago.

8TB of memory
I've had this Seagate drive for 2 weeks and so far so good. Pretty much plug and play, easy set up, file/album creation straight forward. Time will tell if my pictures are there when I go to retrieve them. Love the customer service of B&H. You are the best!

absolute disaster with my MacBook Pro
As context, my computer is a top of the line, MacBook Pro 2016 in immaculate condition running all the latest software. The drives (I got two of them) worked fine when I first plugged them in. I formatted them moved loads of data to one drive, and setup Time Machine backup to a second one. Plug and play
For a 50-yr old, tech-challenged chick, this external hard drive was very easy to set up. I plugged it in to my 64-bit op system and started moving large quantities of files to the new expansion hard drive. I use Win7 professional and have the older usb 2.0. Moving from computer to external did take some time (huge files). However, moving/organizing the files within the seagate itself flew.

Storage fine, but...
I am using it with a MacBook Pro. It works fine as long as it's directly connected to the Macbook, otherwise it periodically disconnects itself. Never had that problem with a WD. I won't be buying Seagate again.
