-I use these headphones for listening to music, mixing audio, video editing, and gaming. -I was looking for headphones that would remain comfortable for long hours (8+) and the MKII 's do the job. I forget they are on my head and leave them on even when I'm not listening to anything. They self adjust and stay on your head. -The sound quality is great - accurate and balanced. They sound much better after a months use. Those looking for powerful Bass response should test these out before buying. -They look and feel well built, and I predict I'll be using them for a couple of years. -Excellent design in respect to the replaceable mini-xlr cable and ear pads, plus, they come with replacements for both in the box. They deliver far more value then other headphones in this price point. ... More

Completely accurate; Flat; Lightweight; Replacable parts. I've had these for years and they still sound as good as when I got them. The leather Earpads like to split, but they're pretty cheap to replace. The semi-open design is great when you're working in the studio with multiple musicians and you need to talk to each other. Not so great if you're in public with a lot of noise, for that a closed ear design is better. Every studio I've been in has these headphones. You can't go wrong!

Most amazing headphones, PERIOD!

As Mike said there is a reason that these headphones are used in recording studios. That reason is, because they are really lightweight, extremely durable, and overall just great. I have had these headphones and they were actually given to me by my dad bout 2-3 years back (all orignal parts btw) and they are still holding up just fine. Also, between your head and the foam piece, there is a gap that allows you to hear everything around you too. So, overall great headphones, and definitely worth the price (even though they were not that much when my dad bought them.) ... More

I work in a room with several other people, and conversations are always going on around me. I use these headphones with my iPod so I can make the choice to join a conversation or not. Being the 'open-air' style headphone, I can listen to music and hear what is going on around me. And being large visible headphones, people tend to leave me alone. After the open-air quality, comfort is my highest priority, since I wear these all day. I have also the Mk I version of the K240s, and these Mk II headphones are more comfortable. I appreciate the choice between fabric and leather-like rings, and the coiled cord is nice. The headband is comfortable, the sound is very good - certainly good enough for an iPod. ... More

I needed a new pair of headphones and was on a budget. I was looking at the Beyerdynamic DT770 that are in the same price range and was ultimately drawn to the velvet earpads. After additional research, recommendation after recommendation said to go with these instead. Little did I know that these came with replacement velvet earpads in the box so I pulled the trigger. Man was I glad I did. They sound amazing! Very open and airy sound, clear and flat (no added boost in any frequency range) that I could tell. They are also lightweight compared to the two pairs of Senheiser HD280 that I have finally replaced. I no longer have an isolated private studio so mixing on monitors late at night is not allowed with two young kids. I haven't mixed on these yet but I am so looking forward to it and the outcome. ... These headphones deliver a really pleasing sound quality that only gets better the more you use them. The headphones fit very comfortably over my ears (I prefer the leatherette pads to the velour) and the headband design is flawless. With two cords, two sets of ear-pads, and a two year warranty, this is in my opinion a good investment for anyone looking for a sweet sounding, long lasting set of cans.

The 240 series have been used in more recording studios than any other headphone just look at any MTV video, etc anything from the 80's onward - the K240DF is still my very favorite set, and is considered THE set for mixing, because they are about as flat of a response as you will get. The K240's back in the day, were still made in Germany, and the quality shows like everything else, AKG is not the same AKG from 1980's - Fast Forward to these, the MK II - very similar in design, but for sure not quite as flat as the originals - I think these are eq'd a bit different, because so much music is bass heavy now, and I think these emphasis the high mid area more, and that all important 3K area for vocals So, GREAT for monitoring, but I wouldn't trust them for a real final mix of something All in All, still a great set. ... I use the K240 headphones with my Alesis MultiMix8 mixer or directly plugged into a PC and a MacBook Pro when recording podcasts or voice over narrations. The other day I used them with my iPod and even though they looked huge in comparison, the sound was amazing. They are very light and comfortable to wear for hours. I can still hear the outside world enough for a conversation, but they isolate the sound very well. The MKII includes a coiled cord and a longer straight one. I use the coiled cord because it is compact and doesn't get in the way while I'm recording. This is a great set of headphones for a home studio or to listen to music. ... More

Good headphones for audiophile listening and for mixing as well. Good midrange detail. Although it's treble could be better is actually very convenient for long mixing sessions. A somewhat exagerated bass response, although it does well to compensate headphones inherent lack of low end. Great for drum listening! I also have a pair of dt-770s and i prefer the akg.

With the great sound and general kick to these headphones, they are a hard buy to beat, one of the main selling points for myself is the replaceable cable. I have killed far to many sets of headphones due to cable damage. My only complaint of these are they large size, they are not heavy but a bit bulky to carry.

I've used AKG headphones for years, finally needed to replace, but this model was a big disappointment. Lightweight, but not particularly comfortable. I don't need headphones to listen to casual music, I need them for tracking and mixing music that I compose on my music interface. It didn't take long to evaluate, the sound quality just wasn't good, but more important, just not accurate enough for mixing the correct EQ, sound levels, etc.

I would have given it 5 stars if it was built a bit better. The sound is exceptional - sometimes can even better my GRADOs. However it was not built to last. The cord gave up within first two months and then the whole headphone gave up. I just sent it for service (...) under warranty. Hope it will be fixed as new. I just used it at work for about 2-3 hours daily - not what I call heavy usage exactly. I regret recommending it to other people now.

The only thing I didn't like about them, they are a little light, so they don't feel like sturdy but the person I bought them for, likes that aspect of them. Secondly, when they are turned up, noise does leak into the room a lot. Sounds good to the person using the headphones, would be annoying on like a subway or something.
