Does the Job, but not the best anymore.
I bought this monopod when I began to film weddings, and the people I worked with had the previous version of this monopod. At first, I loved this monopod, but eventually, I slowly began to realize that there may better alternatives, as I noticed some issues with this piece of gear. I've owned it for about 1 year. Pros: Manfrotto head is drop-in rather than slide. Clasp locks. More than enough height. Carries DSLR/Mirrorless with bigger ... Show More

Not as good as previous models
I had high hopes for this monopod but it was a big let down. There are two main problems that I have with this monopod: 1) The panning is terrible. On the previous model the ball at the bottom was not in charge of the panning ability, instead they had a dedicated piece in between the ball and the bar. This new one has the ball handing the panning and the tilted movements. It doesn't work nearly as well as the old. Out of the box I could not achie... Show More

The panning is dreadfully disappointing
Maybe I just got a lemon, but the panning on this monopod is terrible, unpredictable and completely unreliable. I've used a Manfrotto 560B and an MVM500A for over 8 years now, really put them through the ringer in my work and they always performed wonderfully; I can't recommend them enough. But they both used a cartridge system for panning, but this new XPRO system has the ball joint responsible for tilting AND panning, and it doesn't work well a... Show More

Very flimsy while pivot is locked and feet are engaged
Sorry, but unless your are only using this as a minor anchor for full pivoting during capture it's misses the target. While the locking ring at the bottom allows the pivot to disengage, it by no means holds the monopod in a mildly rigid manner while engaged. The entire thing rocks in every direction at the slightest touch. There's absolutely no way to pan without two hands and a focused attention to bracing your body. The three plastic, locking ... Great Monopod for on-the-go film and video production
One of the selling points for this particular model for me was the fluid head mount and it certainly didn't disappoint. Smooth pans, tilts and reveals. The quality is fantastic, a little on the heavier end, but it also gives you sense of security and worth in the product. The clamps are easy to work to extend the monopod and the height it reaches to is fantastic. One of the parts that surprised me the most was the circular fastener at the bottom ... Show More

Perfect for Larger Bodied Cameras!
I purchased this as an upgrade from an older monopod (Manfrotto 561BHDV-1) which had been my workhorse for the past 10 years. This model features a larger foot and larger video head that accommodates larger bodied cameras, including my Canon EOS C200 and XF300. One of the features that really makes difference is the ability to lock the foot from swiveling, which is perfect for stationary filming. However, do not be lured into thinking that this ... Pretty unique monopod ...
Not too heavy.. Supports 11 LB, but if you remove the head, and add something steadier, the monopod itself and the fluid base are good for up to 17.6 LB. The fluid head that comes in this kit cannot pan, but you can unlock the base and turn the entire monopod for panning. Alternatively, you can buy this without the fluid head, add a more expensive Manfrotto head (model name ends in 'AH'). 'AH' models allow panning. I recently purchased a 500 mm f... Show More

Very cheaply made...
I bought this thinking that it would be pretty sturdy given that I own 2 manfrotto tripods (no complaints with the tripods) and wanted to give this monopod a shot. Man was I disappointed, I will say that Ive never used monopods and I love the concept since it was very easy to carry due to its light weight and compact size when folded, however there are a number of parts that are very low quality, low enough quality that I seriously question the... Very Nice!
I struggled with picking out a monopod. I finally decided on this one. It was likely due to Peter McKinnon recommending it on his YouTube account. So far I've loved it. I can't compare it to another, but so far the footage I've gotten with it has been great (for me) and I'm looking forward to seeing what my and this monopod can do as I improve. Nice mechanics on the foldout legs, the ball joint has a nice lock, unlock mechanism, the quick release... Show More

Stable, sturdy, smooth
Manfrotto has done a nice job to build this monopod to be lightweight, with smooth movements. It is versatile in that the head is removable, as is the 3 foot base, turning it into a photo monopod. The movement of the fluid head is pretty good. The 3 foot base tends to loosen after a lot of use, and I found that it has to be tightened periodically. This is the only drawback I can see. The tabs used to lengthen the monopod are a very nice design with the ability to change the height with one hand. There is a bubble level on the fluid head as well

I look for reasons to use it!
I ordered this item just days before departing for a 2-week shoot in Puerto Rico, covering hurricane relief. It arrived on schedule. Its rugged, useful, dynamic and has super smooth tilt and pan action. It sets up in seconds and can hold up to harsh conditions and long shoots. The features are perfectly designed (detachable feet, quick release clamps, D-shaped rods). The only thing I am not fond of is the wrist strap. Its short and doesnt stay threaded. I do think it should come with a shoulder bag. I highly recommend this product!

Worth the investment
Manfrotto or nothing. I stand by their products. You pay more but its worth it. This Monopod holds my Panasonic AG-AC130a with ease. (5 pounds give or take) Fluid pan / tilt motion. The quick release plate is compatible with my Manfrotto tripod making for easy quick transition when seconds count. Its built strong. Slightly heavier than what im accustom to but my other monopod was trash. Beware of pinching your self in the locking mechanisms. I would have liked a carrying bag for the money. Overall a great addition to my gear.

would not recommend for stand alone recording
Very disappointing for what I bought it for. It has great height at 6'7 but at that height you can't leave it alone or it will definitely fall over! the Feet at the bottom of tripod is too small! you can't tell from advertisement. If it could stand on its own, it would have been great for your secondary camera at a wedding but now you'll need another person holding it. The good thing is it's very solidly built, I had confidence video taping, holding it above everyones head on the dance floor at weddings.

My GoTo monopod for C100 MkII
I shoot a lot of run and gun gigs and my back isnt what it used to be so this guy helps a lot where I need to be handheld for a long time or in situations where a tripod would slow me down to much. And if the situation demands I take it off the monopod, its very quick to pop it off and leave the monopod where it stands on its own feet, I do this a lot and love this feature. Also, if you unscrew the feet and the head off it you can make your self a quick low angle setup which is brilliant.

Not as Good As the Older Models
This is the 3rd version of the monopod that Ive owned, its a bit different than previous generations but I must say for a videographer such as myself that uses DSLR's mainly this is a must have. My only issues include the plate being rather larger for a Panasonic FZ-1000, sometimes the plate gets in the way with manual focus. Also the new locking mechanism for the legs is a nice touch but can be hard to lock or unlock if your in a hurry. Aside from that, this is a great piece to own.

Quick Release Plate is BIG
I love the monopod and the fluid head. It looks and feels great. My only complaint is that the quick release plate is way too big for my GH5. I had to slid the camera so far forward on the plate (so it didn't block the focus ring and variable NB filter adjustment ring) it is difficult (but certainly not impossible) to get my chin over it to look through the viewfinder. With that said, I still love the monopod and give it 4 stars.

Excellent construction, well-built. But the feet on the bottom are too small.
Its well-built, and works great as a monopod, but the feet are too small. If youre trying to use it as a tripod, forget about it. It tips over to easy and even though the feet lock out, there is still too much play in the knuckle at the bottom. The camera sways and tips, and you cannot use it for even a simple interview headshot. but in fairness, it is a mono pod so if you use it like a mono pod is an excellent product!

Wow! My First MonoPod...
Ok. This is my first monopod and I have to say I am amazed with all the smooth footage I was able to accomplish with this thing. I am just amazed on the smoothness that it provided to all my videos, and the flexibility with it being able to pivot is amazing. The fluid head is sooooooo smooth, I know I said smooth already but that is exactly what they should have called it SMOOTHPOD. Total recommendation...

Perfect tool for every occasion!
I have used the older model at church, and loved it so much I wanted one for my personal use. It is by far the best tool for anyone that shoots video. The new extension releases are so quick and work flawlessly. The locking mechanism at the bottom is a ohenomianl addition. It locks it for a solid monopod stand or you can unlock it for a full motion rotation of the entire monopod/camera.

Smooth Action ' Ease in use.
I purchased this Monopod for use shooting wedding photography and videography. The unit is solid, well built and easy to use and move around during events. I have used this with an slr with a wide angle and heavier 70-200mm lens using the lens mount on the heavier lens. I highly recommend this monopod. It has replaced my unipod and tripod during weddings.

Replaced my 561BHDV
I actually wanted another Manfrotto 561BHDV that has been a great monopod for years but it wasn't available so I got this. It works great. The head is a little larger and a different design. It shares the plate with my 504 so that will be convenient and I believe supports a slightly heavier camera than the old 561 so that will be nice too. Good purchase

Sturdy and Dependable
I have been using this monopod configured with both a wireless Sony PXW-X200 camcorder, and on occasion even my Sony PXW-FS7 camera package for both live streaming and sports highlights. This gets me in spots impossible to go with a full tripod, and I can get there quickly. When shooting long lens having the extra stability of the monopod is a must.

Amazing. Wish I had purchased years ago.
This thing is awesome. A tripod was one of the first things I got when I started filming, followed quickly by a monopod. Both have their purpose, but this is the best of both worlds. I do a lot of run and gun filming and this thing serves me well. It gives me the added the stability I need to get steady shots quickly.

A little too wobbly
You have to have a solid surface to stand this on, and even then, you have to hold it pretty tight, or it's going to wobble a little as you pan ahd tilt. If it had an adapter to widen the base a little, it would greatly help it stay still. But, it's much better than if it had no base at all.
