I use this with a DAW and this pre has made my life easy. I just put in the motu cd loaded basic drivers fired up the pre8 and everything was ready to go. My DAW was already setup with the pre8 settings plugged in a guitar armed a track and tested out the motu pre8. Very clean sounding alittle soft sounding so I clicked the 20db pad and wow just great.I have used this pre now for about a week and it is so nice to be able to start recording and not worry about tweeking everything before you can start having fun.I guess the only thing I would say that could be a con would be that the knobs on the front are kinda small could be alittle bigger for easy grip. I work at a church they have motu products they use for worship music and not a problem for the last 6 years. ... More

I purchased two of these units for an upcoming live recording project in which I needed mobility and recording power in a small package. Within 20 minutes of opening the units and installing the drivers I was recording with them. They're going to work perfectly for my purposes. Great, clean quiet mic pre's! The only drawbacks that I can say about the units is that I wish the manual had covered using multiple interfaces in conjunction with each other, and the pad and phantom power switches seem a little more delicate than I wish they wereThose are the only reasons holding me back from giving it five stars out of five! ... Outstanding Interface

I use the 8Pre on a regular basis, in two capacities. 1, As an AI for my own original music recording projects in my home studio, where it excels. I've used it with both Cubase 7 and Pro Tools 10, and again, it excels on both platforms. 2, I use it via Jam Kazam in one of the local cover bands that I play in. Whereby, we perform remotely from our respective homes/locations. Again, it excels. Any latency is kept to a bare minimum. I've owned my 8Pre brand new since 2015, and not once have I ever had any problems with it. Not sonically, electronically, or mechanically. Great Mic Pre and Converter

I use this as a Mic Pre and A/D Converter to expand my 828 MkIII. ADAT Optical out to the 828. This device works very well, and functions flawlessly. The only thing I dislike is that when powered off, it does NOT save the trim levels for each mic, and therefore if you use it with a normal setup, you need to re-level every time you power cycle the device. This is not terribly difficult, but it does present a problem with consistency in recording level.

I use the 8pre for in house and road recording. I find it useful for travel because of the built in preamps. I generally run 8 mics off of a split snake directly into the preamps and run anything else form a given show into a Yamaha LS9 and send some mix down tracks through the Fiber inputs. This box consolidated a lot of gear for me and I love that I can use it with a laptop! B&H had the best price that I could find anywhere, so I grabbed it up and haven't looked back on the decision. Not only does this rugged interface sound amazing but the fact that it has 8 individual pre amps for each trs/xlr combo inputs, makes this a high quality MOTU interface you can trust for a reasonable price. pros: Can act as a digital converter, a whole lotta trim gain control on each individual channel, 2 firewire inputs, no latency, rack mountable, midi inputs, separate phantom and pad switches on each channel, can choose different sample rates up to 96 cons:cant find any yet if you are recording a lot with different mics and want the best sound for your condensers, this is the way to go I love this interface more and more each day.. great deal for the price. ... Ordinary at best, not what I expected

Been testing it for 2 weeks. Sounds muddy, transient are crushed, expensive for quality, not too easy on the eye, looks more like something you'd take on the road than to a studio. Drivers are a pain sometimes with other sound devices & software (sample rate will not reset by itself), Used win7 pro with it & I am used to deal with computers & studio equipment, it's just buggy. I've asked for an RMA.

I heard about the sound card and I felt that it was good, but unfortunately I was disappointed. Because the card sometimes makes annoying sounds like a bomb. It almost ruins the speakers. Also, when choosing the audio track solo inside the protoles, it emits loud sounds. Is there a solution. The sound of the card is good and its capabilities are great, but it has technical problems and I hope to find an island solution quickly

Perfect for the home studio. Sounds amazing, records drums like a charm, sturdy, and has a nice aesthetic. It does everything it promises. I may buy more to link them. I love this audio interface/converter so much.

My Mackie ONYX400F just died on me and I needed an affordable interface quick. The MOYU 8PRE is affordable and was easy to set up. It's straight forward without a lot of bells and whistles - just what is needed in my studio. The other thing I like is I can daisy-chain more than one!

Makes a great impression out of the box. Solid construction, very easy to use, expandable. The manual is very clear and well written. Good preamps. The sound is good and neutral, low noise. I am glad I got this.

I'm digging the 8pre as a front end for DP6. Great sounding pres, basic midi, etc. Limited output options but, it's in a demo room so it works fine. Great piece for the price.
