I bought this to see if it would work as an external drive with the 8300HDC DVR supplied by my cable company .. the internal drive on the DVR was only 160GB, so it wouldn't allow storing too many HD movies. I figured that if it didn't work with the DVR I could always use it for backing up my computer files. Efficient. Quiet. Compact. Beautiful.
Best purchase ie made as a drum programmer and a producer. Supports both USB formats and for the price I'm blown away with the amount of worth this product has made for me as a musican and a freelance tech person. I have alloy iTunes linked to it and my music files and with 2TB of storage I'll likely have years before I come close to filling it up! Get yours and protect your data the right way.

dead on arrival
The software loaded was for a media card drive, not an external hard drive. Support at Fantom was NO HELP. I returned item. B&H was extremely nice and VERY helpful.

Great HD drive
I needed a drive to add to my DIRECTV DVR. This has an esata output that is required with the DIRECTV DVR. Everything works great. Very pleased with this unit.

Dependable
I've used Fantom USB drives for 3 years now, and they are always there when I need them. I back up client images to these drives and frequently need to access them. Never a problem. Just put these 4TB drives to use, and just like my other Fantom external drives, they are work like a dream.
