Allow me to produce when not in a studio

Apr 7, 2014

I currently use these headphones to produce dance music. Over my musical career I have played multiple instruments and worked in various recording studios. I have a very competent studio monitor set up in my home, but until now I have felt like I was unable to design clear crisp sounds unless I was at home. Within the same night of receiving these headphones I was able to make some of my tracks sound infinitely better through more precise mixing ... Show More

Some classics never die

Mar 12, 2014

I purchased a pair of these years ago, and the new ones perform just as the old ones did... stellar. I am hoping these do not suffer the same fate as those ones I had 25 years ago for radio broadcasting... vinyl deterioration on the ear muffs.

I will use the headphones in a small recording studio. The headphones are great because they are not too big or heavy. They deliver solid audio through the entire spectrum.

Solid & reliable for pro use

Jan 20, 2014

Got these headphones as another try in my odyssey of trying to find headphones that can help with mixing & mastering decisions. While I still wouldn't completely trust using only these for either of those purposes, they are definitely the best of all the Sonys I've tried, and will now become my go-to for critical tracking & live-mix monitoring purposes. They are non-fatiguing and give me a pretty darn honest representation of what's going on. I c... Show More

Sony MDR-7510 Pro Studio Headphones

Jan 11, 2014

I purchased the MDR-7510 headphones last month and am still in the process of breaking them in. I listen to everything from Bach to Zappa and find these headphones to be excellent. I'm not quite sure if they sound any better than the older (discontinued) MDR-V6 Studio Monitors that I have used for the past 25+ years. Either way, the bass is not overpowering. Mids and highs are very good also. They are comfortable to wear over long periods.

Beautiful sound

Jan 2, 2014

This is my first pair of professional-quality headphones and the difference between my usual ear buds and these are SO much better. The difference is staggering. The sound is beautiful, with a great deal of depth and texture, even if I'm just listening to background music on Pandora or something. I haven't tried them out with video/audio editing yet, but I have high hopes. The only downside I can see so far is that I can't figure out how to trans... Show More

Great Headphones

Dec 20, 2013

I'm not exactly an audiophile, but I appreciate good sound. I've been using a pair of Sony MDR-V6s for the past few years, and they've been great. However, I recently started recording and mixing music for fun, and I decided I wanted something a little more professional. I was looking for an all-around, closed back pair of headphones that I could use for recording, mixing, and listening to music. I also didn't want to use a headphone amplifier. I... Show More

Crystalline heaven

For closed back headphones, these are surprisingly open. Sure, they can't give the open sound stage of quality open backed phones, but there is considerable space, clarity, detail and separation. If you need quality closed back phones for recording vocals, then I would certainly recommend the MDR-7520.

Sony MDR-7520 Headphones

Sep 5, 2013

These are first-rate headphones! The sound is much better than my old Koss PRO4-AAA headphones. Very flat frequency response actually reminiscent of the old EPI Tower speakers. The price at B&H is much lower than on Sony's own website.

Nice sound

Sep 2, 2013

Great headphones with nice sound. The earpads are a little bit small, so this can fatigue your ears, and also don't bend, so, this can be an issue if you plan to store in a small carrying case.

Made me a believer!

Aug 26, 2013

I use these cans to check my mix in the studio. I have alway preferred open back headphones but the sound stage with the MDR-7520's is excellent. The power handling and clarity is amazing. Among the best I have used when high volume is necessary. Very light, comfortable and well built. And most importantly the sound quality is flat and beautiful. There isn't any thing bad I have to say about them at all.

The Perfect ATH-M50 Upgrade

Jul 29, 2013

I use these headphones for post-production audio editing and DJing. I've been using the Audio Technica ATH-M50 headphones, which are great for the money, and until recently I'd thought they were the best closed-back headphones unless you spend a grand or two on the Fostex TH-600 or TH-900. The Sony MDR-7520's low-end response is the most tightest and controlled I've heard from a closed-back headphone. Even though the M50's low-end response is rel... Show More

Clarity

Jun 25, 2013

These are quite possibly the most accurate and true-to-life headphones I've ever heard. The bass translates perfectly to loudspeakers and because the treble is slightly quieter than other 'reference' headphones it also translates nearly perfectly. Much better value and a far better product than buying near field monitors for around the same price. If you're thinking about pulling the trigger on these, do it. The Ugly,Right earpiece adjustment failed shortly after the return period lapsed. I have jury riggesd a fix using a rivet, poor at best.esetentially junk.

Really Good

Mar 19, 2013

Because of construction at where I work, I am being moved to an new office that I will have to share with 3 other people in a public area of our building. Being the video editor on staff, this meant that I could not use my speakers whenever I am editing. After reading about many types of headphones, I decided these were the best options. While nothing can take the place of hearing the audio out of good speakers, I was pleasantly surprised at how good the sound was on these headphones. Lots of range, crisp sound. Overall, very excellent.

I use these to monitor recordings of convention breakout meetings and other AV tasks. They sound very good and they're much more robust than the cheaper Sony cans I'd had before. I like the metal headband and the screw-on 1/4 adaptor that doesn't get left behind when I switch machines.

Feb 7, 2013

I have MDR 7509 HD which are very good, but the 7520 model is much more accurate and balanced. There is excellent detail without being edgy, and their bass is deeper and cleaner than the 7509 HD. Some folks believe that lots of bass is good, many headphones have bass response that is boomy, but these have accurate bass as well as midrange. I'm a video editor that works in pro tools a lot to do VO, sound design and audio mixing for my videos. I was using the bests by dre headphones at first, but no ideal for hearing the most accurate sounds .. These headphones are clear and u can hear the dynamic ranges in frequencys. It does not boost the lows, mids, or highs. It simply outputs what you really have. Would recommend for anyone who does professional work or seeks to. I still have my beats, they're really great just for listening to my music
