I have owned several mixers, all had there good points and bad. I have never owned a Behringer Mixer before until this one. I read alot of reviews and they are quite mixed ! Either its loved or hated and you get a lemon or a gem, even still I could not help myself from buying this, I had to have it! It looked great, its small footprint was a perfect fit for my rack, and it has 10 XLR's ! Insrets on each chanel, all the aux sends you want, direct outs of each chanel, a sweepable mid range, one knob compression ( Similar to thr Yamaha MG series, which I own the 166cx) Anyway the price and the features made it a great buy so I went ahead and grabed to use with my band for rehearsal. My verdict after putting though the paces? Not one problem, nothing, everything works perfect, in fact the yamaha mg166cx has now stayed home while we gigged with this because we liked it so much! Its not boutique mixer but this thing can hold its own! The FXs are not leixcon quality but they are more than suitable for Live use in the small to medium venues we play, All the drums are in here, three vocal mics, guitar, bass etc..No issues and I cant complain! I manage my system with the DBX Driverack PA+ And I am sure this is a huge difference in the way the board sounds etc, however it does its job nicely as a great utility mixer and small band bar type stuff, I highly recomend you put aside the bad reviews and give it a chance for yourself ! You can always return it, hopefully you get a gem and not a lemon! for my money this was a fantastic buy! As I said I have put this mixer though the paces on the road and off for 6 months now, bouncing around the back of my PU truck , cold, heat outside etc...No issues! As for the mic pre's there fine, when people complain about "noise" etc, I think they are pushing there faders and gain controls to far, unity is there for a reason, dont go beyond it, if you need more then you obviously are underpowered and should look into a new amp before blaming the board...Buy this mixer, do a good gain structure on your components and dont overdrive it and you will be fine! This is a great little Mixer, kudo's to Behringer for cramming in some un real features for such a very low price! ... More

Here is the key to all Behringer products. Donۡt push them hard. I use 3 other Behringer products with the same idiosyncrasies. So Iۡve got 4 Behringer products in my stage audio chain. This mixer works very well, especially in this price range. If you stay out of the yellow you will achieve a good signal to noise ratio and get the warmth of this mixer. Once you move into the yellow range on each channel or overall master then the mixer begins to get harsher and punishing. So, trim it carefully, watch your channel levels and donۡt push the mains too hot. Get an amp to get louder. My band usually uses an external efxۡs unit via the auxۡs but at times we play smaller venues and just use the onboard efxۡs. They are adequate but nothing special. Get a footswitch to bypass them when talking to the audience. We use 15 of the 16 channels to run stereo sequences, stereo keyboards, 2x stereo PODs, stereo drum mix and four vocals and still get good results. A lot of folks complain about Behringer products failing. This is the second mixer weۡve used. The first one had champagne spilt on 7 of the channels rendering them sticky forever and having glitches on several faders, knobs, switches and inputs . . . so we thru it away. This mixer gets a lot of abuse and keeps on performing. 4 out of 5 stars only because it canۡt take any punishment without giving up something. Other than that, youۡve got a decent full fledge mixer with all the necessary routings needed in most cases and at a price half that of what Iۡve used in the past. ... More

Bought mine in Jan. 2015 for my project studio, and up to now, no regrets. It was a big leap in quality and workflow; I've been able to record small to mid gigs and fests (3 to 4-piece bands mixed direct to stereo/dual mono) while doing sound reinforcement, not to mention a couple of EPs from folk to hardcore punk. USB is 2-track in/out, mono or stereo; works right off the bat, though sometimes glitches/gaps happen. Not sure how it compares to UCAs, fast-tracks and the like. Resolution is 16/48, I find it ok for most situations. Onboard compression: helpful, even though there's no fine-tuning and the noise floor is raised a bit. Better than nothing, in lack of better alternatives. On the beginning I used to clamp the compressor. As time went by, I realized it would sound better on peaks, with lights lit almost 'til the next strokes (on drums, especially). On bass and guitars I still clamp it :D Pres: quiet 'til around 4 o'clock. You'll rarely need that much gain, and using more sensitive mics (or louder sources) will help fighting this. Insert jacks on channels 1-8, as well as direct outs. IME the inserts had FREQUENCY LOSS (highs and lows). But I didn't use them much, since I record from the USB (was gonna hook up some ADAT tape dinosaurs via groups (doubled outputs), but turns out it was a lame decision). It also has a Master insert but, unfortunately, no group insert. Monitoring: 2 headphone outs + control room, slaved in a easy to grasp monitor section, which comprises of a volume knob and switches between 2-track/USB, groups and main mix. Sometimes I'd prefer to have independent volumes for the control room and the phones, or independent phone volumes. EQs: the "Q" is 1 oct., according to manuals. On rare (long gone) occasions I found myself daisy-chaining the direct-out from one channel to the next, to fine-tune the mids better. I feel like this is a GIRATS approach mixer, where you should focus on performance, balance, rather than compensating for wimpy sounds. Also, (usually on live sessions) I leave channels 9-10 (which have 4-band EQs) for kick drum or electric guitar. The remaining instruments do fine with 3-band. Auxes have pretty loud outputs. Mono send, stereo return (there are 4 stereo returns counted as inputs. 8 mono inputs, 4 stereo and 4 stereo returns for the "24"42). 24-bit FX via tap/preset, mono in, stereo out (watch out the echo delay!). I like the delays and choruses best. It's a bit of trial and error, but it's as simple as it can get. Would be better if it had pre-EQ, as longer reverbs can clog pretty fast. The mixer has a footswitch jack for muting FX, which is awesome! To wrap up: the x2442usb stands out from most of its competitors for its resources quality and quantity. I think it was discontinued, but it's still quite affordable, lightweight (and rackmountable), and plenty i/o. 2nd-hand it's going for less than half the price of a new one. ... More

This board is a pretty good board? while it's still functioning. It has onboard effects that don't sound terrible (they don't sound great either), individual outs for each channel, equalization for each channel, compression for each channel, and a pretty good input monitor. The only issue is that six months after I bought this board, it stopped working entirely. I sent it back to Behringer as it was still under warranty, and after a month and a half I got it back? and it worked again! I was overjoyed that I could return the Mackie ProFX board I bought and get my money back, but my excitement was cut short when I plugged it in a week later and found that it had decided to die on me again. This thing sits under my bed now, useless. I hope someday I might use it for parts. Long story short, it gets two stars because it was alright while it was working. If you're looking at buying this product, look instead at the Mackie ProFX series (the board I'm currently using), or a similarly priced Yamaha board. You'll pay $50-$100 more than you would if you bought this Behringer, but you'll have a board that will last you longer than six months. ... More

Bought this mixer about a year ago. Mounted it in our rack and gig with it almost every weekend. We have four vocals, two guitars, bass guitar and keyboards plus the Roland V-drums plugged in and an external effects processor into one channel for delay. I use the on board effects unit for reverb (which isn't bad for live shows) This thing works like a champ. The USB interface works perfect as well.(Record our live shows onto a PC laptop using Studio One Artist) When we needed a replacement mixer I was considering the Yamaha but the Behringer had a couple of added features the Yamaha was missing. I am very happy with this mixer and if needed to replace it I would certainly buy another. We purchased the 3 year extended warranty from Guitar Center only because of the excessive use - I'm happy to say we've never had to cash in on the warranty. Perfect little mixer for live performances. hope this helps. FB: The Corn Wallace Band ... More

So....typical behringer...the critical components are good, but the extras are where they cut the corners to keep these things affordable. So, if you take care of your stuff, these things are a pretty good bang for your buck. Sound quality is good for live performance or home recording...I expect and demand better quality if I'm going into a studio to record. I'd use this for live recording though, and this mixer is more than capable. There's a few nuances I don't like. The stereo channels should have a +4/-10db switch, or at least allow the gain control to work with the line inputs. Also the efx aux should be aux 1 or aux 4, with the remaining 3 switchable for pre or post fader. As is, you get two monitor mixes and 2 efx aux. The onboard efx...while not the greatest are usable in a live setting. Overall for the used price I paid...it's a great piece of equipment, and I'm pretty happy with it. ... More

So far, so good. Honestly, haven't had it long enough to put it through it's paces and see how it performs and holds up. I did a lot of research before I made this purchase and the deciding factor was the amount thrown in, the price and my past/current experience with Behringer products. I have a few and although I've heard bad things over the years about Behringer products, I've never experienced a problem with them and they were very cost-effective and performed great for me. Behringer sells another model that's pretty much the same as this one but it has Klark-Technic effects which are a bonus but it's not rackmountable and for me, the added upgrade of the Klark-Technic effects didn't mean a lot. I plan on patching in much better effects via outboard gear anyway. As time goes on, I hope there are no unpleasant surprises but I made sure I purchased Guitar Center's added protection plan. Maybe I won't need it, but it's peace of mind knowing it's there if I do. ... More

This is a great mixer with a lot to offer for the price. But....... The only thing is that you can not record multiple tracks simultaneuosley into a DAW , you can only record in a 2 channel setup. So you would need to use the direct outs of the mixer into some sort of recording interface into your DAW( For example when you record drums) For me its a great mixer minus the recording capability.
