Behringer stuff sucks. right? right?? that's the old Xenyx preamps. they're noisey and disgusting. Behringer started using Midas pres in their new stuff (U-Phoria line) and they sound awesome. nice and clean, but not a ton of character. oh well, you're recording into a computer right? and you can model whatever character you want out of them. This 8 input (plus Optical for more inputs) UPhoria is awesome to work with. the windows driver is good, and it just works. This is an upgrade to me from the 4 port UMC404HD, which was an 'upgrade' for a focusrite Scarlett 2i2. I'd compare the preamps in the behringer against the scarlett any day, and the price of this 8 input behringer is only a few bucks more than the 2 input Scarlett. just do it, you won't regret it. ... Hard to go wrong with this unit for the price. I was upgrading my little home studio from an old Tascam US-1641 and the sound quality was noticeably improved and I really dig the combo xlr/1/4" inputs. The Midas pres sound great, plenty of ins/outs, including two headphone outs with separate volume knobs, eight xlr/1/4" inputs, ten 1/4" outputs, spdif, etc., dedicated gain knobs for each channel, line/instrument and pad toggles on each channel, phantom power toggles for channels 1-4 or 5-8... pretty full featured interface. Latency isn't the best, but you'd have to spend a considerable chunk of change to step up to the next level, especially for something with this many ins/outs, so can't fault it too much there and in practice it hasn't been an issue for me. Basically if you need a bunch of inputs/outputs on a budget this is probably your dude. It's not going to have the super low latency or ultra high audio quality that you'd find in a UA or whatever, but it's a fraction of the price and 24bit/96k is probably going to be plenty for most applications. If you've got a little extra budget for it, the Focusrite Scarlett stuff would be a step up from here, but the Behringer is a great unit at a great price and won't disappoint. ... More

Clean and quite preamps at a great price. Works perfectly for my band, easy install of the drivers too. Using with studio one. I don't see a reason to buy a more expensive 8 channel interface.

Really wanted to like this as it is $300 less than similar Focusrite unit. Was impressed by the build and looks of the unit on first impression. Installed the driver and connected the usb with no problems. Ableton Live recognized it without any problems. As soon as Push 2 is connected Ableton freezes and closes. Everything was working fine with a Focusrite 2i4 before, but I need to upgrade to a unit with more inputs. Looks like most people on other reviews had good experience so not sure why I had issues. No time to debug so trying a Focusrite 18i20 now. ... More

Tried to use this interface with Windows 7 and ran into some issues. I was running their new driver, 4.38 and it ran great in Studio One which is my DAW. However, when I tried to play audio from any other source, say Youtube, Windows Media Player, ETC... it would freeze the videos and audio. Other people seem to have the problem with the interface and Behringer does not seem to have a solution. I called them and they sent me the old driver 3.29 and it doesn't work at all now. I will post if I can get it figured out but it isn't looking too hopeful. I will probably go back to the 4.38 driver so I can use the interface at least to record. It sounds great recording wise and it is easy to use. It is nice and quiet while recording and is fast. ... More

I would have given this a 5 star review, but it only supplies phantom power to either 4 channels at a time (1-4, or 5-8), or all 8 channels at once. I only need 2 channels to have phantom power, and the rest not have phantom. It would be much nicer to be able to select for each channel, but oh well. It's still a really great piece of equipment. Easy to set up and use, and the sound quality just can't be beat, especially at this price point. I love it, and highly recommend it.

I have this hooked up to my Mac. No drivers needed. Plays everything. Works with all software and DAWs. This thing seems to make perfectly good sound. It has the dual jacks, and plenty of them. Plenty of outputs. I do wish it had inserts like its litltle bro the 404. One of the best things about these is the comprehensive ins and out. In addition to the 8 ins and outs, it has optical, coax, and MIDI. That sealed the deal. It works great.
