Sturdy yes but much stronger than I expected. Multiple points of contact with the camera means no twisting or moving when attached, yet it still has multiple options for slings, straps, and 2 serious Arca mounts.

Great Design, Takes Everything into Account
L-plates from RRS are extremely well-designed and made. They blend into the camera body perfectly, anchor solidly and still leave access to all the doors and openings you need access to. You can buy cheaper products, but for the security of my camera on the tripod, this was the right product for me.

Ive bought two different l-plates from RRS and have the same review for both. L-plates from RRS are extremely well-designed and made. They blend into the camera body perfectly, anchor solidly and still leave access to all the doors and openings you need access to. You can buy cheaper products, but for the security of my camera on the tripod, this was the right product for me.

Fine product
Well designed for ease of use, light weight, and strength. Expensive but will be enjoyed. Easy to access side port for remote shutter release socket, nice 1/4 x 20 threaded hole in bottom plate (though none in side plate) for attaching monopod if lacking arca plate.

Excellent Choice for BlackRapid Users
I love this plate! It fits my 1Dx2 like a glove, can not twist due to the design, has built-in allen wrench storage and best of all, accepts QD push-button swivels. This is a perfect solution to anyone who uses a BlackRapid strap but wants to leave their base plate on all the time. Typical RRS quality & thought
Works great, precise manufacturing. Might be considered expensive but why would you go cheap when this is the last piece between your strap/tripod and $5000+ worth of camera kit?

The battery on the left side of the GFX is probably it's biggest fault, so can't blame RRS here, however the section of the L plate that slides into the baseplate really should have a dovetail. With a dovetail alignment would have been better when in portrait orientation and with the L section extended to allow a USB plug enough room to fit - as it stands there is some margin for error. Nicely made - but...
the piece itself is well made though I have a couple of comments. This is a two piece item. I already have the base plate but could not find just the side plate on the website. The instruction sheet is poor. This is a pretty simple piece of equipment but the instruction sheet makes it seem much more complicated. I write technical manuals for a living and I would be ashamed of this.

Does what it should and well
Easy to install, fits like a glove. Makes tripod use so much easier as well. Glad I finally decided to get one of these. Probably will get one for each camera I own from now on.

Might be pricey, but RRS products are high quality and this base plate is a good example. The fit is perfect and it includes a handy Allen wrench tucked away in its design which offers an extra option.

Great product!!
Precise and very exact. A true time saver. A bit pricey but well worth the fare. This thing is the logical addition to my RRS ball head and has saved me quite a bit of time on the few shoots I've done with it.

L-Plate
Big fan of RRS products. This is well made and does what it is supposed to do. However, it doesn't allow for full articulation of back screen when open like a book. Not a big problem, Can work around it but just something that users should be aware of.

Bespoke design
I recently switched to an L-Bracket and fluid head system for my tripod set up. This is such a good system that I have no regrets ditching my ball head and quick release plate system. Superb construction, materials, and design! The quick release sling points at the bottom of the plate keep a low profile so there isn't any interference with my hand when shooting in portrait orientation and gripping from the battery grip. Using the quick release system for slinging your camera is BAR NONE the best!

It fits perfect fot my Nikon D610 with MB-D14 Grip
In B & H Photo is the only site I could find and L-Plate that fits in my camera without disconnecting the grip, so it gives more flexibility, precision and comfort to photography with tripod. The photo that is attached is from a food photography session. Thank you very much.

Expensive and hex key magnet fell off
The bracket fits really well, but the price is unbelievable. $180 - wow. Only 3 months into use, one of the magnets which holds the hex key in fell out. Contacted RRS's support team to arrange a replacement and was told to just super-glue it back in. $180 spent, and self applied supper glue is the solution. Last time I'll buy Really Right Stuff products.

Good design but lacking
Perfectly machuined to fit to A7ii, and provide a weatherproof seal for battery area, BUT no place to store allen wrench for assembly/disassembly. Only available if you purchase L bracket as well. New design for A7iii incorporates storage in base design....should be on this offering as well

Perfect fit for my a7iii...
The RRS L-Plate is a PERFECT fit for my a7iii. I tried Sony's proprietary grip (which I found VERY comfortable and stylish), but they put form ahead of function. It rests funny on the table and there's no tripod mount nor a place to put one...unless you're interested in pulling out your dremel. No thanks. Expensive, but worth it.
If you use tripods regularly, just buy this! I waited far too long and struggled with poor quality plates that would regularly come loose. And I dealt with flopping my expensive camera and lens over to get portrait shots (not too often). I was concerned about needing to use a tool with this L-plate, but I have not removed it since I put it on. It is just as tight as when installed--months later. New (secret) feature
I've been using these L brackets on my Cannon & Sony camera for years. The bracket from my A7RII fit on the RIII, but not all the access ports lined-up. I'ts a tad heavier and bulky as well, But here's the "secret" the included Allen wrench stores in the base of the bracket and is secured by a small magnet; it's easy to attach when you need it!
