Manfrotto MK055XPRO3-BHQ2 Aluminum Tripod with XPRO Ball Hea
I Purchased this tripod and Ball head after weeks of researching, Trying to decide wich one would be best for me. Everytime I was ready to purchase a tripod and ball head a review would stop me from intiating the purchase. I kept comming back wanting the Manfrotto. I did look at some manfrotto tripods at best buy and the legs were comming off the display tripods. Geez! I really wanted this ball head so I took a leap of faith and orderd the comple... Show More

Not Great for Macro
I bought this ballhead to use with a smaller tripod for macro shooting. The main selling feature for me was the fact that this ballhead was 'shorter' than my main ballhead & would therefore help me get as low to the ground as possible. Overall it works fine, but it is not ideal for macro shooting. I shoot with a Nikon D90 and my macro lens is a Nikon 105mm 2.8 - which together weigh no where close to the weight of the advertised load capacity. I ... Show More

Love this tripod
This is the 3rd tripod I have ever owned, and it's by far the best. I don't think the online product information does this tripod justice. It is very easy to adjust the legs in many ways. There are two extendable leg sections, and the releases are very easy to use. There are four set leg angles that click into place, but you can also adjust the legs at any angle between the clickable settings. You can even extend the legs so they lie flat on the ... Show More

Don't let the legs slide and slam into place
Just as another reviewer experienced, I also had a leg fall off while extending the legs. It was due to the weight of the legs, and the force that is experienced when you let the legs slide open and suddenly stop at the end. If you are worried about the legs coming off you can tighten the screws down that keep the clamp on. It is habit for me now to keep my hand on the leg as it slides down and to grip just a bit right before it is fully extended... Show More

Great, solid tripod and head.
I have own many Manfrotto products. I've never been let down by any. This tripod replaced two of my aging tripods. It is very sturdy, just the right height. I like the 90 degree center column angle conversion. It is very simple and convent to use. The rubber grip sleeves on the tripod legs are a nice touch to help when working in the cold. This isn't the lightest tripod, but I didn't buy it for that, I bought it for sturdiness. The leg locks are ... Show More

Only for still photography!
I'm giving a 1 star rate because it is not what I was expecting, it might work for some one else. This is made to do only still photography, forget about panning or video. I think this is a good head if you only do studio photography and you don't have to deal with quick moves or anything like that. I do a lot of events, hiking, travel and studio photography and this one will only work at the studio, if I'm on a place were I need to be catching a... Show More

Beware, Limitation in Ballhead Movement
Used with a Canon 40D, Canon 100-400mm or Canon 30D and Sigma 50-500mm lens for bird, wildlife and scenic landscpe photography. Pros: Very well built. Easy to use see grip release pressure Con. Holds firmly in all positions that are available. No creep, set it and forget it. This is a very positive feature. Easily adjustable locking friction. Works great on relatively flat surfaces. I'm Blown Away
07 14 2018 - Received a Manfrotto MK055XPRO3-BHQ2 Aluminum Tripod with XPRO Ball Head sooner than expected via FedEx (delivered on a Saturday instead of the projected Monday deliver date). First impression was how BEEFY thing is... and it's exactly what I wanted. I'd never seen a ball head in person and have never had a tripod of this quality in my hands before, so this is a big deal for me. I read through all the paperwork, checked nuts and bolt... Show More

So simple a 10 yoa can use it!
I would have to tighten the clamps on my old tripod so tight that I was the only one in my family that could use it. When I got the 322RC2 from BH it was like night and day! The grip release is very easy and you can adjust the tension by just a turn of a wheel, very easy. When I said a 10 yoa can use it, I was referring to my 10 yoa daughter who was using my equipment(under nervous supervision from me) for a class project and once I secured my XT... Show More

Great Grip! Intuitive and Vesatile
I looked hard before I purchased one of the Grip heads as they don't seem to be as popular as the standard ball head. But after looking at a couple in stores,(Though none were set up the way I wanted to use it) decided to get this one. For my first use, I set this up as a vertical grip instead of the horizontal as it is advertised and sold. However, I intend on using it in all modes. (The main reason I chose this model.) I had no problem maneuver... Show More

Strong Easy to Operate Tripod
I was replacing a light weight tripod that was too flimsy for a Nikon D750 and the big Nikkor 200-500mm zoom. The Manfrotto handles this combination solidly in the wind. The leg quick-release locks are beefy, giving you good leverage to flip open. While their tension comes adjusted, there is a tension adjustment for later if needed. The leg angle has three angles of adjustment. The legs slide quicky into position. I took a shot with the M... Show More

Good Head, hope its strong.
The Manfrotto 496 ball head seems like a good tripod head. The base of the head is smaller than the older mounts for the Bogen/Manfrotto tripods so the set screws dont really lock into anything. Its got a locking/tension knob instead of a lever so it seems with big objects on top it might be a little more of a challenge to reach the knob. Its got a separate pan lock that is a very small knob and though it is useful to have a separate release for ... Show More

Superb Combination
I have suffered from a drooping camera when using the traditional ball head. After trying several different models, with no overall success, I finally decided to go the geared head route. What a difference. I can position the camera exactly where I want it, without any drooping. If I need to move quickly, the quick release knobs for any of the three axis work great. I do astrophotography, so this was a definite improvement to my workflow. The onl... Show More

Just OK at best.
I bought this Ball Head because it was light weight, compact, could hold 13lbs capacity and was reasonably priced. Its perfect right? Wrong.I went from a Giottos Ball Head M7001. Its major flaws were its weight and size. However, it was truely a Quick Release system. I could side my camera in from either direction of the rail. Bam! In and out if you need that fast response to shooting your subject matter. With this one, its your standard setup. Th... Show More

Fully Satisfied
I bought this product after reading lots of reviews about it. It lives up to the reviews. I got this to replace the Pan and Tilt head that came on my Manfrotto tripod. I was tired of having multiple adjustment levers to achieve what this ballhead does with just one lever. I love the quick-release plate function too. So far there is no problems keeping my D90 with battery grip and my heaviest lens mounted securely and in place. I wish I didn't wai... Show More

Fantastic product!
My first experience with Manfrotto was when I purchased the 504HD Head w/546B 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod System a couple of years ago. I use a Canon FX105 and this tripod is much more than capable of handling the weight that my system requires... an awesome product for sure! I love their engineering, It is velvety smooth in all axis of movement. I find it funny when I am surrounded by remote broadcast TV video crews when their tripods/heads have les... Show More

Mobility problems
I use the head for astrophotography, specifically with the Astrotrac auto guider and standard SLR with a zoom lens. It was specifically recommended for this configuration. First the good stuff. It is super tough and robust, and there has been no slippage to date. I've come to expect this level of toughness from Manfrotto, and this head does not disappoint. The locking mechanism works well, and the plate detaches with ease (but not TOO easily). On... Show More

Great Tripod, Quick Setup
I bought the 190XPRO3 with XPRO Magnesium Ball Head and 200PL Plate as it is a moderate weight tripod which allows very quick change in configuration and mounting of my camera. Speed is improved by 3 section legs (vs 4 section), quick lock levers on the legs, and the incredibly quick centre column switching for horizontal use. Overall these features make setup a snap. Great Quality Tripod
I wanted a quality aluminum tripod to carry on short hikes and this tripod is the best for the money in the mid range tripods. Pros: - It is a manfrotto with quality parts - I prefer the tabbed designed leg locks over the twist design leg locks - The updated design is both pleasing to the eye as well as innovative Cons: - I bought this tripod before the bigger brother MT055 came out which is only slightly more expensive - Center pole pivots on a ... A must have for wildlife shooters
I wanted a quick aiming ballhead and the 322RC2 fit the bill and then some. I almost bought the Sunpak pistol, but after playing with it in store I noticed that the floor model was slipping, not a good sign. I decided the 322RC2 was the way to go, so glad I did. This pistol grip is very well made and super solid all metal construction. It is a bit heavy, but not cumbersome. This ballhead allows for very quick positioning, which is exactly what is... Just OK
I purchased this head based on the reviews here, and I must say I'm a little underwhelmed. Stability is generally good -- the camera stays in position for landscapes regardless of upward/downward tilt angle. When used for portraits, the camera tends to slowly rotate downward on the plate (even with the 70-200mm f/4L and 100mm macro), which is primarily an issue with 10+ second exposures and bracketing. This can be fixed by locking the ball in rev... Show More

A Technological Work of Art
I will keep this short and honest. I have only had this tripod for a few weeks, so i cannot yet address long-term reliability. That said, i have owned various other tripods such as a Leitz Tiltall (decades ago) and various medium to low quality tripods since then. For me, the Manfrotto MT190XPRO4, which included the Manfrotto BHQ2 XPRO Ball Head is technological work of art; a true pleasure to use. Another reviewer helped me to decide on this com... Show More

Excellent ball head, solid, easy to use
Bought this mainly to support my combination of a Canon 60D, 17-55mm f2.8 lens, and Vixen Polarie star tracker. This fairly heavy combination was too much for my old mounts, which were a 492 Micro and a 222 Joystick head. This head is very solid, it holds the above mentioned gear easily, and doesn't budge when bumped. The build is solid, and the controls are straightforward, exactly what I love with Manfrotto gear.
