The headband could easily be 1 shorter, in order to fit the majority of heads. The sound is good and the build quality is good...all fairly sturdy plastic. Headband padding is sufficient to prevent discomfort. No problems noted with the cord or the snap on 1/4 adapter. The ear pads are adequate. Clamping force is perfect for me.The outer cover over the speakers (labeled 'Tascam TH-02') is held on with three snap tabs. I released the bottom snap tab by inserting a metal nail file, creating a semi-open, rather than closed back headphone. This seemed to open up the soundstage and make the bass better defined. I glued a Sennheiser HD580/HD600 headband cushion (mfg# 549375) to the center one-third of the Tascam using silicon adhesive (can be removed, if so desired later). I only used the adhesive on the central one-half of the cushion so that it wouldn't strain it when opening up the headphone to put it on my head. Rolling up a piece of 'minky' material or attaching a thick strip of memory foam (or a combination of the two) would be another way to sufficiently pad the headband so the it actually rests on your non-watermelon head, rather than wobble around up in the air, above your head.If you have large ears this will not be a truly circumaural (over the ear) headphone, as portions of the pads will rest on your ears.http://www.learningaboutelectronics.com/Articles/What-are-circumaural-headphonesConclusion:This can be a very good, inexpensive headphone with a couple of tweaks and should be on the list for anyone on a budget looking for good bang-for-the-buck. ... Great headphones. Better sound and comfort than I expected. I can wear them for hours without discomfort. I use them for direct plug in to my guitar amplifier for quiet, private practice. I am very pleased with the comfort and quality of the product. I read the reviews and was skeptical. I was thinking headphones for twenty bucks couldn't be this good, but they are!

Bought these to listen to on-line guitar lessons, so I wouldn't disturb my family. I'm happy with them so far. The sound quality isn't what you'd get out of a high dollar set of noise cancelling headphones, but if you are looking for an inexpensive set, that work well for casual use, and thankfully have a nice long cord so you don't pull them off your head when you are using them while playing your guitar, these should suit you well.

I needed a half dozen cans for a recording session.

I've used the same MDR-7506's I bought in 1994 for monitor phones but they've since fallen into disrepair in the last few years so I needed something that would work well enough for a group of singers. After trying literally a dozen cans at BH I saw these right next to the 7506's I was cringing at purchasing. I love the sony's but Im not ready to spend half a grand on 6 sets of phones that I might use twice a year. I saw the price was under $ so I listened and took the plunge. The studio musicians were very pleased with the fidelity in comparison to stuff they've used in other studios. The isolation was very good compared to open back phones and there seems to be a little bump in the mid, which works well for singers. Out of the box they're on the strident side but get a little dark after breaking them in, a little too dark for my taste but good for long sessions where a brighter headphone might exacerbate listening fatigue. The construction is kind of cheap, I can't see these surviving daily backpack abuse for more than a few months. If you need cheap foldback cans, it's hard to beat the amount of bang for the buck with these things. With the money I saved, I bought another pair of 7506's for myself! :) ... More

I use these headphones along with my Tascam DR-05 recorder, and also use them to listen to music that I play my drums with. I have however lost some of my hearing in the very high-end hearing spectrum so I may be missing the very high sounds that these phones may capture. The Tascams seem to have the same clarity that my Roland RH-200V, V-Drums headphones produce. Overall I think for the price and 20% off they were a tremendous deal at less than $23.00

Folks, these are $20 headphones. If your goal is to have over-ear headphones that will output sounds into your ears, be sort of comfortable (but also maybe pinch your head a bit), and make you look like you know what you're doing (because they say Tascam on the side), these are for you. If you're looking for good headphones to realistically monitor audio on, get any sort of low-end response, or at least give you a decent starting point for a mix, these are not the phones yr looking for, my friend. And frankly, although they're pretty lackluster, they're only $20, so why not take a flyer on them? Maybe you'll love the tin. :) ... More

I bought this to use with my camcorder, and it work well for this use. The cable is nice and long, as well, which is nice if you have to plug it in to a console. The cable doesn't recoil on its own, so if you are walking around, you'll need to secure it somehow. I have a pretty wide head, and the ear pads aren't spectacularly comfortable or isolating, so I may look into finding some compatible replacement pads. The sound quality is more than adequate for my intended use, which is usually to monitor a shotgun or wireless lav on set. I listened to some music at home, as well, and the speakers were responsive and clear, though seemed a little slanted toward to the higher frequences. They are lightweight and seem durable enough for frequent use. There are definitely higher end devices, but these are great reference phones for the price. ... More

I was looking for a comfortable set of monitoring headphones for field recording, and these fit the bill perfectly with their foldable design and inexpensive price. They fit comfortably on my average-size head and, while not noise-canceling, they keep outside noise more or less out. The sound is nice and clean with a noticeable flat frequency response so you hear the signal exactly as recorded. The single-cord design is nice. The only drawback is that the cord isn't coiled, but that's not a deal-breaker for me.

I took a chance in order the headphone based on past experience with Tascam equipment and it paid off, the headphone are great, just what I was looking for, at some point the plastic material for the equipment feels cheap but it gets the job done. Don't expect deep bass or high treble, is just the sound fair and square that you need to ear to get the recording levels straight. Bought as a replacement for my old discontinued and irreplaceable Denton ah-d210's. The denons are the best I have heard. These tascam headphones are a more than acceptable replacement. They have a very clear, balanced and transparent sound similar to the demons which I prefer. The highs, Middles and lows are all there. To my ears they sound better than the high priced more 'prestigous' headphones currently on the racks. I tried them all and could not justify the price. My wife says the white looks a bit too much.
