Manfrotto MH293D3-Q2 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

GREAT DESIGN
I use the MHXPRO-3W both in studio and on location coupled with a Manfroto 028B tripod and the performance is superb! The friction controls work well to counter the weight of my Nikon D610, even after releasing the tention of the retractable tilt handles. The mounting plate latch appears to be made of a lesser quality material than head itself, although it has never failed (hence the 5 star rating) I am still a little apprehesive every time I mount my camera.

Stable Support For Big Boys
Just finished my first photo session using the 808RC4. Works great! Have Nikon D700 with 24-70mm f2.8 lens; total weight is over 5 lbs. Settings held with no need for over tighting. Had a pistol grip head before and the unit, although, rated to handle the weight still would drop frequently. No fear with this unit. This is quality product with fully degree calculated scale on base, both tilt arms plus level bubbles. Recommended for heavy camera/lens combos.

It stands up well.
Used mostly for studio photography, but will also see some location work. It's light and extremely rigid - no wiggles or slack anywhere. When you pick it up to move it the legs stay put and don't flop around. It does what its supposed to do. The 3 piece legs are not as compact as the 4 piece, but that only matters if you will be packing it up often for travel which I don't do. It may also add to the rigidity and is a little easier to set up and take down.

Excellent tripod head
This has so far proven to be a very versitile head, rock solid when locked down. Still evaluating whether I might go with another type head for fine macro work. I looked at the the Manfrotto 804RC2 but didn't like the fact that it wasn't all metal construction, read a number of reviews which talked about flex and movement. Very Happy with the 808RC4. Use for outdoor photography, wildlife and macro. Particullary like the spring counter balance mechanism.

My marriage has lasted longer than the legs.
Got the 3021/055 legs the same year I was married, 2001. The legs were great for a long time, but a slight bump broke the lower leg collar. The reason I bought these legs was that I figured they would last forever, no more than I uses them, or if they did break, parts would be had. Lasting forever is an unreasonable thing, but paying more for a better brand that should have part support is not. Wishing I would have bought the Tiltall now. Or the Gitzo.

Great Tripod Head
... I sent it back and got this 3 way pan tilt head with the 190X legs. It was less than twice as much, and is ten times the quality. I'm very impressed by Bogen products. I have a monopod and table top tripod as well and they're both awesome. I actually kept finding things as I set up the tripod that I didn't even think about that were nice user frlendly things Bogen had included - they must really think of the user when they design their products.

This tripod is the business!
I just started shooting panoramic shots I needed a better tripod than my old Slik aluminum unit. This is a night and day difference! The center column/boom section is one of my favorite parts about thing, but admittedly, this is also the only part that seems slightly plastic-y and feels like it might break... Good thing this has a 10 year warranty because otherwise I probably would have sent it back. Other than that this would be a 5 star review.

Heavy Duty
It is heavy when compared to the Manfrotto travel tripods. It feels and looks sturdy. I bought it with the short handled 3-way head. I wasn't sure about the short handles, but I like how unobtrusive they are to use. Plus, the tension adjustment. Makes for more controlled and precise positioning of my camera. My travel tripod has the ball head. I like this 3 way over the ball head due to the control I have with it which the ball head lacks

great tripod
Ive had 3 manfrotto tripods, and Ive never been disappointed. This tripod is pretty light weight and feels very sturdy. The 3 way pan tilt head is way better than a ball head for realestate photography, much easier to get level. The only con I have is, the clips on the legs. They snap back hard and fast so watch your fingers! I pinch my fingers on those clips at least once a day. All in all, this is my favourite tripod I've had so far!

Great product!
I got this tripod a couple weeks ago and love it. So far, I have used it for macro and night photography. It's a great all around tripod. With the ball head it can rise above my head (I am 6 feet tall) and go down to a few inches off the ground. It feels sturdy at each height. The carbon fiber makes it quite sturdy and doesn't move much when you tap it. This is about the Same weight as my previous tripod, but with a lot more features.

Smooth and Stable
I use this head mainly for still photography, and some video work. I needed a head that would not drift when composing with my 70-300 at full zoom. I am very please with my choice. On the -30 +90 front and lateral tilt limitation: For my personal style and comfort I would welcome a wider angle. The extra bit of movement would come in very handy for shooting birds or other wildlife that can make sweeping changes in vertical direction.

Great Tripod!
I carry this tripod with me all the time. I do a lot of hiking to photograph waterfalls. It is light and fairly easy to carry. It is rock solid and stable. I have a couple of changes I would like to see. cushions for the main tubes. That would make more comfortable to carry and hefting over my shoulder. The center post tilt mechanism could be little better designed. I like the locking levers and carbon fiber. I would buy this again.

Awesome Product! !!
I bought this with the easy release handle to go on my spotting scope and I have to tell ya this tripod is exactly what I have been needing!! I hunt and hike at 10 feet to 11 k and it's extremely windy up top and this tripod is durable and strong and helps with focusing on and animal a mile or so away thru my scope! They are light in weight which helps packing and I would recommend this tripod to fellow hunters!!! Thanks B and H!

Excellent, light-weight tripod
This replaces a Manfrotto carbon-fiber tripod that I owned and used heavily for the past three years. These tripods are workhorses. I like the new design of the leg extension tubes and find that the lighter weight of the tripod does not come t the expense of stability. I use this with a fairly heavy medium format digital camera and Manfrotto ball head, and do a lot of long exposure work. The results so far have been excellent.

Perfect for Me
Had the Manfrotto 498 maxi ball head. It broke with the camera on it, lens smashing against the tripod - luckily it wasn't damaged. Sent to Manfrotto for warranty repair-they fixed it, but the trust is gone as it continues to creep and periodically, slip dropping the camera lens. Decided to try this head - so far it's stable and no creeping. Should it fail it lens won't hit the tripod. Retractable handles are very convenient.

Great head for landscapes and fixed images.
I've enjoyed using this head on an old Manfrotto tripod. It's ver easy to use for fixed images. If you needed to shoot moving vertical objects it may be difficult. Panning lefts or right is no problem. Great for macro photography especially coupled with the Canon 100mm f2.8 Macro Lens I use to have an old Manfrotto squeeze handle head that was real nice for a while, but for macro shots this system was not getting it done.

Excellent Head -- Great Value
I use this with my Canon 60D DSLR for both stills and video. It is very solid and does not slip, even with a 300mm tele mounted on the camera. It's panning and tilting action are very smooth -- smoother than a 700RC2 fluid head that it replaced. Though my primary application was for still photography, it will do an excellent job for video as well. It is not very light, but it is solidly machined and feels extremely secure.

Solid tripod
I got this tripod recently for a heavier camera and I am very pleased with it. The only downside is that it is heavier than a tripod that I could not take on hikes, it is very solid and provides a lot of stability. Yet, it still folds in small enough space that it can fit into my airplane carry-on bag (diagonally without the head). It also extends high enough that I can take overhead shots easily. Overall a great product!

Great unit
For a light tripod, for general 35mm or similar work it is ideal. It is very flexable yet sturdy. It covers the range from a few inches off the ground to eye height. It is most suitable for 95% of average needs. Unless one has special needs or wants to spend a great deal more, you can't really go wrong with this unit. For larger cameras there could be a problem, I say could, since I don't know what the user might require.

So far OK
This unit is a great back up for my gear drive head. The controls are in approximately the same place. It works smooth and is quite strong. It is a little on the heavy side, but well worth the effort to get better photos. The latch mechanism came loose. Thanks to my Swiss Army Knife I was able to adjust and re-tighten the latch. A bit of lock-tight will be the permanent fix for that problem when I can get back to the US.

Always trust a tripod by Manfrotto
I am a quadriplegic and use tripod to assist me in taking my photos. I spread the 2 legs all the way out and put them on my lap and use the 3rd leg a support. Works awesome. I've tried other tripods and they are just not sturdy enough. It's strong and the legs do what I need them to do. I 1st learned to do this when playing with a Manfrotto tripod in college. And I've been hooked ever since. I'll add some pictures later.

Great tripod now better with carbon
I have an older aluminum 55 which has been my workhorse for the last 4 years but its heavy so the carbon fiber and more adjustable legs sold me on an update. It is everything I wanted.... 3 stage legs with levers and a center column that rotates 90 degrees. Its good BUT... center column is shy a couple of inches than my old one and the new lever locks are dangerous as they will nip and draw blood if you are not careful

Rock solid
I'm using this head on my Triman tripod and it is a stellar combination. The pan is firm and the two tilts are spring buffered so the camera can't fall over. The camera plate takes a little getting used to but the camera will never fall off. When applying any of the locks the image dose not shift, important with long lenses; you get what you pay for. This combination is not bad to carry on short trips close to the car.
