Best tripod head I have
I absolutely love using this 3 way tripod head. Smooth and precise, it's the best head I've used so far. I like it even more than my Arca Swiss Z1. The retractable handles make it super convenient to pack. Friction control is great so it can be adjusted depending on the weight of the lens & camera. Plus it can support up to 8kg. Overall very impressed with the quality you get for the price. What more do you need?

The Hummer of tripods
I use this mostly for landscape photography. It's a beautiful tripod, very sturdy and well made, great height, but heavy. I was photographing migrating birds the other day in fairly gusty wind and this tripod was like a rock. You wouldn't want to have to carry it more than a mile or so though, it's pretty big and beefy. It's also very slick - takes less than 5 seconds to fully extend the legs and lock into place.

Almost Perfect
Its a great head. With that in mind here are the problems Ive found with it. The spring balance mechanism is not the best. It works but it resists more forward than backward. Turning it off and on is awkward because sometimes it doesn't catch. This head cant point strait up. It would be nice if the plate could fit in more than one direction. Other than that, its great and it seems like it will last a long time.

Great tripod Not so great head!
The overall quality of the leg is excellent. I used it a lot and the leg is super sturdy and light. I mainly used it for landscape photography and common video shooting in studio. However the head is not as good. The pan and tilt is good but the quality of handle was poor, it dropped by accident and cracked the cover. Overall I am happy with the tripod. I would like them to build the handle on the grip better.

Love it
I recently handed down my former Manfrotto kit to my daughter so it was time for new stuff. This kit is fantastic. Heavy duty tripod and this geared head is a monster. I recently did a large food product shoot with the old Manfrotto and while it worked fine, this geared head would have made it so much easier for shot setup and repeatability. Im very happy with this purchase and you cant beat B&H for the price.

Worth every cent!
This tripod is the bomb! It will support the weight of my camera, the optional battery pack, and the flash unit with ease. It is heavy enough to hole the camera steady in windy conditions but light enough to carry on hikes and trips. I love the center colunm can be tilted to a horizontal position to enable the camera to be pointed straight down. This tripod is loaded with great features and is very versatile.

For the price you cannot beat it.
This wonderful head allows for precise movements in any direction and is well built without being overly heavy. It is not as smooth as the more expensive models but it is plenty smooth for what it cost. I find that I really love the collapsible handles which makes it much easier to carry and store but still easy to use. You will not do better than this little pan tilt head unless you spend a lot more money.

Good Strong Unit
I take mostly long exposure waterfall and stream photos. This has proven to be a very solid head for my D7000 and 18-200 Nikkor lens. I take long time exposures. This is solid as a rock. The latch came apart but luckily it happened at home and I did not loose any of the little pieces. I put it back together and it has worked flawlessly ever since. Also, B&H Photo sent it to me on time and without problems.

Feels soft loaded
Would be great for mirror less or a DSLR with no big lens. I will likely use it with a 4x5 field camera but a Toyo Rail Studio camera does not do so well on it. That is a long load but well within the claimed weight it supports. Seems to flex a bit much. So four stars because it is decent and I may be pushing it a bit with 4x5 use but I think it's claims are a bit much. My favorite quick release though.

Worth the upgrade
Just like any other piece of equipment, this tripod needs to be handled with care and separate gestures. When quickly lifting the center arm up to tilt it, it can snap off, which does cause it to disassemble. But it's not a hassle to reassemble it, and do the gesture slowly. It's great at balancing the weight of a DSLR + ZOOM Lens in horizontal mode, and the whole built quality and legs are very sturdy.

Manfrotto Equals Excellence
If you are reading this, you are probably already familiar with Manfrotto quality. The MT055CXPRO3 tripod legs are amazing. So versatile and they are rather light in weight too, even with the Mandrotto 054 ball head I purchased with this. My only suggestion for Manfrotto is to start including a bag for their tripods. When you spend top dollar for a tripod, you certainly want to protect your investment.

Great Tripod
This is only my 2nd Manfrotto tripod in 19 yrs because they stand up to a lot of wear and tear. I use this tripod for landscape work, and it is stable and yet lightweight. The level bubble is very helpful and the release levers are very easy and convenient to expand or retract the legs. Even tho it only has 2 sections, it's plenty tall enough. Great product and you can't beat B&H's customer service.

Extraordinarily Stable!
Having used a smaller, lightweight tripod for more thhan 3 years, I had no idea how much a heavier, very stable tripod would help my shooting. I take multiple bracketed photos (up to 9 shots per bracket) in my real estate photography, so this is huge for me! This is not a travel unit (it IS heavy), but so worth the money. The tilt head is quick and easy to use, and the swing arm is a great addition.

Loved it and than it broke after a week!
This is a great tripod for the price and combo! The gear head is awesome, the tripod is nice too but when extending my leg the other day it completely flew off and almost broke my mark iii and tilt shift lens.. in front of the client I was shooting for. I've had the tripod for 3 weeks and haven't used it much and it shouldn't be falling apart especially for over $300. I would have given it 5 stars.

Smooth
I was a little concerned about it having enough tension to hold my camera setup without slipping. I use a Nikon D850 with vertical grip and a Tamron 150-600 (about 8 lbs) for birds/wildlife and my old ball head could not hold it without slipping. This one doesn't move until I want. The plate is a little difficult to unlatch at times, but I would rather it be hard to get off than dropping my camera!

Great enough to buy again
I've been buying the CX line for several years now. My 190 was recently stolen and I decided to "upgrade" and get the slightly taller 55 version. My only regret is that the older version without the ability to take the center post horizontal has evidently been discontinued. I didn't really need that for this tripod since I've put a Wimberly gimbal-style head on it. I do like the newer leg latches.

Great Tripod but heavy
The tripod is very sturdy which is what I am looking for. But it is on the heavy side. I don't recommend it if you are going hiking with it. It also does not fold small enough to go in the bag. My purpose for it is to use in the studio. And that's perfect for me. I had to get a tripod dolly for easy maneuverability. If you have an extra $ to spend go for the Carbon one. I don't have the extra $.

Great Solid Build
Great piece of gear. Carbon legs are stiff and light. Clamps are easy to release, and lock (It comes with a clamp adjustment tool). The ball head works great, but I replaced it with the pistol grip for quick setup and adjustments. The center column is stiff, and converts to 90 degrees. Buy the aluminum version to save money, but the raw carbon fiber legs with magnesium hardware is just awesome.

The best tripod and camera head!
I have used other tripods in the past and while they did the job, it was time for an upgrade. After speaking with other professional photographer friends in the landscape and fine art industry, they all had the same recommendation. This is simply the best tripod and camera head that I have ever used. It is tough, sturdy, and the camera head is simply exceptional. I highly recommend this setup.

An Oldie But Goodie.
I purchased this 3-way pan/tilt head because I was familiar with this type head when learning photography back in the 1960's so when I got back into photography after retirement, this seemed the way to go for me. This head seems to be very well built and I especially like the retractable handles and friction control knobs. So far, I am well pleased with its performace and its reasonable price.

Solid but cumbersome
I was looking for a tripod head that would work well with my heavy DSLR (battery pack and 100-400mm lens) for stills and video. I found the 3 handle adjustments to be too cumbersome to manage. I traded it in for a Gitzo GH2720QR, which is lighter and has a 1 handle adjustment. I have not received it to try yet so am keeping my fingers crossed. It did not have any reviews when i purchased it.

A MUST for slow shooting
I'm very pleased w/ this trip pod. Very easy to set the legs and adjust for shooting. I'm still new to this ball head but w/ practice I'm figuring out the adjustment knobs. Certainly a lot lighter than my old tripod and is just as sturdy. I think it was worth the extra coast for the carbon fiber. Every ounce counts when backpacking. Purchasing the tripod strap really completes the purchase.

Good product for good price.
This head works great with my 5D mark IV and the 24-70mm L lens. No issues with creeping at any angle or position. Holds the weight exactly where I place the camera so the subject doesn't drift out of the shot. The locking mechanisms work really well. Small, compact, and easy to carry while traveling. Might not be super-heavy-duty for some applications, but for the price it can't be beat.

I don't like it
After owning two Bogen Manfrotto tripods for years, I was excited to buy a new Manfrotto. Not happy with this tripod. The legs are sticky and difficult to extend and collapse, the clamps don't work very well, a variety of things loosen up, and the legs are too tight or too loose to pull apart to set it up. The feet eventually fall off, so buy some extras. Not a quality piece of equipment.
