Manfrotto MH293D3-Q2 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 200PL-14 Quick Release Plate

Fantastic Head
I paired this head with the 055MF3 by Manfrotto. My main passion is landscape photography. While this would lead many people to buy a ball head, I prefer more precise control over the head and the camera. Built in spirit levels coupled with the angle identifier (think of a protractor on the head to tell the angle the camera is at) make shooting a photograph on precise angles much easier.

Solid Tripod w/ many configurations
I love that i can make this extremely low to the ground or open up all the legs and raise the middle support. The legs get released with ease and the tripod provides solid support. I mount my kessler travel jib and 3' slider on this and it works great. I would recommend getting the manfrotto 438 to make the leveling a lot easier. Affordable tripod that gives the best bang for your buck.

Good news ...for tripod and bald head
i am a newbie to photo. after reading reviews, i decided on the Manfrotto. it is carbon...so lite weight. it appears to be rock solid even with my camera equipment on top-- there is no movement taking pics. i am using a rebel t2i with a 70-300 lens. i am outdoors mostly...love wildlife and natural landscapes. i am satisfied, however it is overkill for this newbie. Life is an adventure.

Very strong and Versatile
I was looking for a tripod that I could use outdoors with my 150-600 lens and would double as a copy stand. This is a sturdy tripod! And the center column tilts to horizontal in seconds for shooting straight down as a copy stand. Requires you hang a sand bag or equivalent (camera bag) to keep from tipping over. Great head with multiple levels. Well made, but, of course, a little heavy.

Great tripod!!
When traveling like to carry a tripod. I have a travel tripod that is very light but not stable in all conditions. This 055CXPRO3 is almost a light as the travel tripod, but it is very stable and easy to setup in a short period of time when the moment for the picture happens. I carry it for hours without feeling like I'm actually carring it. It is very light for a full size tripod.

808RC4 3 Way Pan/Tilt Head
Use it with my Manfrotto 055xProB Tripod. Provides bubble levels for all orientations, and dials with angle information. can support roughly any dslr/ lens combination, personally dont know about medium format, but it provides great stability and control, and is very easy to use, Head doesn't fit well in tripod bag, but that cant take points off this product Very high quality build

Sturdy, reliable tripod
Although the tripod was expensive (something you cannot avoid with Manfrotto), it has been serving me extremely well. The clasps to lock the legs are very sturdy, as are the legs themselves. The grips have a great texture and seem to last a long time - very easy to maintain a level base and adjust as needed. Absolutely no problems with it, except that it is PERHAPS a bit too heavy.

Manfrotto tripod
I love the sturdiness of this tripod and the smooth panning ability. I also love the ability to look at the levels to make sure it is level. The only thing I regret is the weight of the tripod. I got the aluminum tripod because of the price difference between it and the carbon fiber. I imagine the carbon fiber is significantly lighter. I still need to get a carrying case for it.

Amazing
This was expensive but the difference is like living in a different world. It does every task that I need to do requiring a tripod in my studio and in the field. Why did I wait so long to get this workhorse? Many possibilities yet to be explored in the plein air painting world of watercolor painting. Fabulous rig for a DSLR camera or a studio projector. Very happy camper! DanW

Solid performance, compact - just right
The quick release plate is a step up from the older one Manfrotto mad, no more loosening up with this one.The compactness is a great feature, especially when heading out into the mountains or rivers far from home. It's weight is reasonable as well. With the two axis lock out I can use this head to shoot stills and motion with more options to pan and tilt compared to my ballhead.

Very pleased ....
I have recently purchased a Manfrotto MT055 XPRO3 aluminum tripod + Manfrotto XPRO Magnesium BH with 200PL-14 QR plate. Main use is with my Pentax K-1, heaviest lens being a vintage SMC Pentax 300mm f/4 of the film era. Although not feather weight, this setup is a joy to work with, being rock solid and very accurate. I am very pleased with my purchase and I highly recommend it.

Very versatile
This tripod and ball head combo are a very strong, stable and adjustable platform for my heavy camera and lens rig. The extra height is also a plus. It will take a long time to test the limits of its strength and adjustability but I can tell it will be a valuable tool to get those impressive shots! The extra gadgets included in the kit only enhance an already excellent value.

Better than expected
Have been doing photography as a hobby for 65 of my 75 years. This is the neatest head I have ever used. The rubber grips on the tilt and pan adjustments are great for someone who has slight weakness in the hands from arthritis. Even the tension knobs are easy to grip. I use it both for video and stills. It sits on a Manfrotto 055PROB tripod. I would recommend it to anyone.

A feature-loaded tripod for the money.
I bought this tripod for family picture taking. So far I have used it once, and it met my expectations. It is not as convenient as a traditional photo tripod or a traditional video tripod, but that was expected because it is a hybrid. This is exactly why I bought it, so that I could use it for both photo and video. Considering its hybrid nature, this is an excellent tripod.

Super smooth operation.
I bought this pan/tilt head to replace an older Manfrotto head that I wasn't too happy with. My faith has been restored. With the friction control, the operation is quite smooth and has solved my previous problem of jerky operation on the old pan head. I am really happy with this head, and would recommend it to anyone looking for smooth operation, quality and a fair price.

Very Sturdy
I bought this tripod to use with the 502HD head. It's not a super light combo which perfect since I plan to load it up with gear. When used with my Rhino slider I get 0 tipping from the slider when the camera is at the ends. ALSO, the quick releases for the legs are awesome. I've used a lot of professional tripod kits and for the price I am very impressed with this piece.

Why did I wait so long!
After struggling with an 804RC2 head for many years, I finally broke down and got this head. So much easier to set camera position since the camera doesn't move when you set the clamp. For those 90 straight up or down shots, no problem. My old 200PL plates fit fine. The only down side is the plate release is harder to use than the 804RC2 due to the length of the lever.

Great tripod head for Real Estate Photography!
Not sure how I managed to go so long without one of these. I would say a geared head is a must for any serious real estate photographer. I hesitated for a while on buying one because I thought it would slow me down, but I find the mechanism to adjust very easy to use, with only a slight learning curve. After a few jobs you'll be moving just as fast as any other head.

Durable, heavy and little bulky
This head is on my tripod all the times. Use and shove it into my trunk. So the only thing I worry is the knobs. They look and feel flimsy even though they haven't broken yet. I just got it for around 2 months and so far everything works great. Other than that worry and if you don't mind its weight I'd recommend this convenient tank especially with the low price tag.

Solid and steady
I really love this head. The controls are smooth and precise and the counter weighting make controlling my camera/lens combos a breeze. The only word of advice I would give is make sure your sticks are as stable as this head. It's heavy and with really accentuate any weakness in your tripod legs. It locks down rock solid so if your sticks aren't solid you'll know it.

Solid tripod with great functionality, and very well built.
Before purchasing this (and the accompanying Manfrotto head), I was using a rather vintage Velbon tripod. I had no idea what I was missing out on until I received this beauty. It's a little heavy, but as it's rated for 20+ pounds, it's absolutely rock-solid, and the weight is not really unexpected. It's got endless flexibility, and I would buy it again in a second!

Well built
I just wanted a solid 3-axis head and this hit the mark. The extendable handles are more helpful than I expected. It's nice to be able to shorten them when you aren't using your tripod so they don't snag on things as much. The tension knobs are great for tuning the head to your camera's weight. I definitely recommend this unit, there's nothing to complain about.

Nothing like a good head.
It works good with a large lens . I am happy with it so far. Adjustable pan can be made loose or tight and if you work with it, it can be very smooth to pan with. I wish every now and then that the handles were a little longer but aside from that and the weight I am very pleased with it. So much that I got a Manfrotto tripod after I saw the quality of this head.
