Manfrotto 808RC4 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 410PL Quick Release Plate

Just Dandy
Super sturdy , a little Heavy , but hey it's aluminium & that's no bad thing right ? Leg locks very secure . The whole thing feels Quality , plenty high enough without the centre column raised , only used it for the 4th July fireworks on Brooklyn Bridge with my EOS 60D and a 24-105 at the moment Would benefit from a better hook on the bottom of the centre column ( to hang a weight from ) rather than the one on the side of the head mount , shame it doesn't come with a tripod bag a come with a tripod bag I got a Ruggard bag from B&H , always worth going to the store and Great prices

Great Head for both photo and video
I use this mainly for my wedding photo and business. I like that it has 3 way pan and tilt with independent knobs. Perfect for video coverage since it gives smooth pan and tilt.

Better than expected
Have been doing photography as a hobby for 65 of my 75 years. This is the neatest head I have ever used. The rubber grips on the tilt and pan adjustments are great for someone who has slight weakness in the hands from arthritis. Even the tension knobs are easy to grip. I use it both for video and stills. It sits on a Manfrotto 055PROB tripod. I would recommend it to anyone.

MT055CXPRO3
I chose this tripod because of its light weight. This tripod is about as sturdy as it is possible for something in its class to be.

What can you expect from Manfrotto..!!!
I usually for landscape, group pictures and portraits, easy to use, legs keep position, sturdy, great investment for Zoom Lenses. Things I disagree: Doesn't come with a protection bag.

Original intent
I bought this to use on my travel tripod but it was heavier than I expected so I mounted it on a studio tripod. The foldability of the head made it a natural for packing, I found it was also valuable when time came to put the studio tripod away. The retractable handles and foldability insures it won't catch on anything in the storage closet

Wow what a tripod
Replaced my ancient Art 144B which I thought was heavy and this Pro3 is even more so. Rock solid - great to have the spirit levels where you need them most. Love how the handles compact in.

Works Great
For the price this head works great. I have several difference heads, and this one outshines all the others.

Outstanding tripod head from Manfrotto!
I like the friction adjustment and handle retraction the most. This is a smooth operating head with positive locking action at any setting. Great for portraits, landscapes and panoramic work. The quick release plate provides secure locking of my camera with no shake.

Great Tripod
I use this tripod to hold a 5d Mark III and some heavy lenses. It has been quiet sturdy and its not too heavy to carry around.

Nice for the price
I saw the demonstration on this at WPPI in Las Vegas in March. For the price it had everything I was looking for at this price point. I had its first test on the beach in Southern California on the photographing surfing. I was using the Canon 1Dx with a 70-200Lii lens and a 1.4 converter. It was very sturdy and worked well. The only thing I would suggest is that if you are going to mainly walk carrying this tripod with the above gear perhaps you should look at carbon fiber tripods for less weight.

A feature-loaded tripod for the money.
I bought this tripod for family picture taking. So far I have used it once, and it met my expectations. It is not as convenient as a traditional photo tripod or a traditional video tripod, but that was expected because it is a hybrid. This is exactly why I bought it, so that I could use it for both photo and video. Considering its hybrid nature, this is an excellent tripod.

Perfect on my 055XPROB tripod
This combo is the perfect balance for my gear and needs. It holds secure my D800 with all heavy pro lenses. Expected Manfrotto quality and engineering. You must align the release plate carefully to the camera or it will not click securely onto the head. Be careful. I almost bounced the D800 off the rocks!

Solid Tripod with versatile features
Very fairly priced and good utility. The leg locking feature is great - no turning/tightening - this makes for much faster setup if moving from location to location to shoot (like realestate interiors). We have the older version as well and while there are a few improvements here (rotating level, stiffer leg locks), the older version is easier to use - especially the leg angle buttons which on this new model are much harder to operate. We have Gi... Show More

Great Product
This is a very nice tripod head, especially for shooting in portrait mode. It is a bit heavy, but that is due to the quality build. I bought this head specifically for shooting portraits and it performs nicely. The adjustment knobs are easy to grip and secure the head, it stays in place.

Great product
I use the tilt head with my Manfrotto tripod. Has three leveling bubbles which is especially useful if shooting architecture or horizons etc. The handles pull out or can be pushed in out of the way. It mounts on the tripod very secure as well as supporting a camera securely. Well worth the money.

Very Nice Tripod
This is my first tripod. I am finding it very easy to use, and has a very good build quality.

Superior quality!!
I am using this Manfrotto head for mainly stills, but have shot some video with it too. This is a very easy to use head, and the hand controls are ergonomic. The build quality and design is amazing, i am sure it will last for years! The only downside I have found is the friction controls are very fine, so you must rotate the knobs many times to find the right amount of friction for your gear. I think this could be a good aspect though for finding just the right balance. Overall I am 100% satisfied and would recommend it to anyone in the market for an affordable 3 way head.

Great Quality Tripod
I wanted a quality aluminum tripod to carry on short hikes and this tripod is the best for the money in the mid range tripods. Pros: - It is a manfrotto with quality parts - I prefer the tabbed designed leg locks over the twist design leg locks - The updated design is both pleasing to the eye as well as innovative Cons: - I bought this tripod before the bigger brother MT055 came out which is only slightly more expensive - Center pole pivots on a ... Great tripod
I've only had this tripod for a couple of weeks and I love it. It's light enough to pack and sturdy enough to hold my gear steady. I find a new feature nearly every time I use it. The only thing it's missing is a hook on the bottom of the center column, but the release for the 90 degree feature is there so a hook can't be.

Reliable and easy to use
Easy to use, and it stays in place. The plate comes off easily with one hand and it doesn't wobble or loosen mysteriously when in use. The handles are a little smooth to feel like you're getting a good grip, but they tighten easily and stay that way until you say otherwise. The range of motion is pretty good but if you're real low to the ground shooting horizontally, there is a limit to it's range, but it mostly depends on the angle of your tripo... Show More

Solid but large
I bought this head because I have always used 3-way heads, but it ended being a bit larger than I expected, but I don't think I checked the dimensions in the specs. I have used this tripod head on a larger studio size tripod, and it was extremely stable. If you're looking for a 3-way head for a larger, studio tripod, this one would be an excellent choice.

Solid build quality
A very solid well built tripod head. Great for my 1dx and heavy L lenses. Heavy and bulky for travel.
