Very Solid Ball Head
Really great ball head with super smooth action from the friction knob. The blue indicator ring on the knob spins freely not sure if this is by design for calibration, either way it has no affect on functionality. Solid and hefty, feels like it will last me a lifetime.

I would buy this product again.
The release plate is very easy to use unlike some of the other brands at this price. The movement is also smooth and I would recommend this to anyone looking for an inexpensive ball head.

Leg fell off on the third day I used it!
What a terrible product. I bought this three weeks before leaving on a three-week birding trip. As I was hiking, with the tripod and the scope, the leg all of a sudden fell off. Because I was on a three week trip out of the country, I couldn't even try to return it until I got back. And now, B&H won't take it back because I'm outside of the 30 day return period. So I now I have a two-legged tripod -

Has some definite design or build problems
Over a short period of time the ball head became more and more difficult to rotate around its base. I sent it back to Oben (Gradus Group importer) for a warranty repair and when I received the ball head back the secondary tensioning adjustment for the ball, using the large knob and the silver inner screw, did not work properly and restricted the tensioning of the ball slip resistance. The numbering is also odd in that at the lowest resistance, nu... Show More

Not happy at all with this ball head.
I wasn't a fan of this ball head from the moment I pulled it out of the box. It has a good solid build but the large locking knob is uncomfortable to turn and is especially rough on your fingers in cold weather. Feels like little razor blades all the way around it. Not like the rubberized knobs I'm used to. When turning the knob, it turns freely for half a turn or so and then gets really difficult to turn. If you can overcome that resistance, it ... Show More

Arca not compatible with my current plates & pan not smooth
I saw a lot of great reviews of this head and want to like it. It is machined nicely and I'm happy with how smooth the ball works. Unfortunately, the base won't tighten enough to hold several Arca plates already on my equipment. I plan to use this on a monopod, but the pan isn't smooth if I move it to a tripod. Not looking for fluid smooth, but better than the grinding I feel. I don't know if it's supposed to have adjustable tension for panning, ... Show More

Great for the money
Solid build, the base plate is solid as well, though it doesn't look it. Although I say that I still do have a fear of the plate slipping out with my telephoto on it.

Solid
I have only used a few ball heads in my life and like the legs that sit underneath it - this needs to be simple and effective. Build quality is top notch. I do like having just that bit of extra control with the pan feature. Regardless - I am not going to over think the ball head - it just needs to work - and this does. Fantastic!

Rugged unit
Great unit for either my new monopod or my older SLIK tripod to replace the existing SLiK head

Oben BE-117 Ball Head
I use it on my pakpod for a lightweight tripod. They work great together. When your backpack is already pushing 40lbs I wouldn't carry a tripod. But this combination is awesome! I use full size dslr with a 70-200 2.8 L lens. The ballhead holds it just fine. I would definitely recommend it for what I use it for.

I would buy this product again.
This is a very nice ballhead. I bought it to use on my Sirui monopod so I won't be able to utilize all the features of the ballhead but maybe when I purchase my next tripod I will get another one of these.

Great ball type tripod head.
Pro: Well made, intuitive to use, and many useful features. Nice design of the quick release. Con: Difficult to pan on plane without inadvertently altering camera angle.

Inexpensive surprise
The Oben BE-117 ball head was a real surprise: Great size, quality and features for well under $100... rare. I ordered this ball head on a Scott Kelby recommendation, not expecting anything spectacular. Boy was I in for a treat. From its standard Arca Swiss quick detach to the smooth and firm locking mechanics, this is a well made piece of equipment, and more than worth the price.

BA-117 Single Lever Ball Head is a fav.
Have three of these, one for each tripod/monopod. I have arthritis in my hands and can't deal with knobs. This one level control is something that works for me even in -10 degree outdoor shooting in Minnesota.

Fantastic product
Sturdy ball heads for my ProMax and monopod, priced right and will support long heavy lenses!

Solid piece of gear
Works really well. Feels solid on both my monopod and tripod. A little pricy, but solid peace of equipment.

Solid Tripod
I'm still getting use to this tripod. I was a big fan of pistol grip tripods but wanted to try the ball head. It's a solid construction and light weight. My only complaint is that the quick release plate can be hard to attach when you have a 70-200mm lens on it.

Kudo's to Scott Kelby!
It certainly does what I wanted it to do for the money. I bought to use on a Induro monopod and a Feisol mini tripod. A little hefty for the small Feisol desktop tripod. You have to keep your eye on it, when you relax the legs on the tripod. The ball head is very smooth and the quality is much better than I expected. Scott Kelby mentioned it in one of his recent talk shows on photography gear. Gave it a try and I am very pleased.

Great first time tripod upgrade.
I'm new to photography for about a year and tried to use the inexpensive Polaroid tripod that came with my Canon T6i package. Not even worth trying. This AC-2361 Tripod is much sturdier, easy to set up and break down, medium weight, but very tall. The BE-117 Ball Head is a joy to use. The added feature of a separate adjustment for panning is a must. The ball adjustment makes it very easy to position, but is no good fro panning, because when the k... Show More

Recommended. Solidly made at a reasonable price.
A very well built solid ball head. All the materials appear to be of high quality and it adjusts easily with very fluid movement. This is my first ball head with multiple control knobs as opposed to a single lever and I am very impressed. I personally don't like the bubble level on the one side because it sticks out and it would be that much more compact without it. Also I need to use the supplied hex wrench or a coin to tighten the quick release... Show More

3 years old and the pan lock has seized
I was really hopeful when I got this head. For a while it worked pretty well. Sadly over time the grease has gotten stiffer and the knobs gradually got harder and harder to tighten (and yes, I know how the tension control screw works). I'd left it sitting for a couple of months over the summer and when I took it out to do some work last week I found that the panning knob had completely seized. I could barely pan and I couldn't use the knob to eit... Show More

Quality is not as good as my Really Right Stuff head but considerly less expensive. Works great and easy to use.

Great Upgrade Head
I used this ball head to convert my tripod to the ARCA quick release system. It replaced the ball head that came with my tripod in about 12 seconds of twisting. The stability is great. The only drawback is the height is slightly taller than the removed head making the tripod not quite fitting the carrying case. I would recommend this ball head to convert any tripod to a quick release system.

Bought this for a trip to Finland in March and so far it seems very well built! Solid and super smooth! I highly recommend it!
