Solid Tripod
Solid tripod, really nice case with velcro fastener on handles, or shoulder strap. Long enough to easily fit third party head. Not a backpacking tripod, too heavy, despite the case. Flips on legs are very solid feeling and should not snap. head slides down easily after raising, but catches at the last inch. Unclear what is intended with that. Quick release mount works well. Bought to go with Oben triple action ball head, very happy with the combo. I am an amateur+ photographer, Fujifilm X-T2.

I am very happy that I bought this for my new monopod.
The head is easy to manipulate and holds my Nikon camera firmly in place. Excellent product.

CAUTION
AFTER 31 DAYS THE LEG CAME OUT AND THE BALL HEAD IS HEAVY AND CUMBERSOME TO USE I WOULD NOT SUGGEST PURCHASING EITHER OF THESE

Oben BE-117 Ball Head
I purchased the Oben BE-117 after reading lots of reviews, checking my budget, and deciding on the weight requirements that would handle most of my future needs. This is my first ball head mount, so I can not compare it to other ball heads. The BE-117 package that I received (on time and in good shape) included the head, a QR-20 mounting plate, 3/8x1/4 inch adapter, hex key, and instructions. I also purchased an extra QR-20 spare mounting plate f... Show More

Nice head for the price
Great ball head for the price. It fits a all the Acra plates I already have on my cameras. The ball mechanism is easy to use and the large knob is comfortable to adjust. I bought this to use with my new monopod and it makes a great functional unit

Just what I was looking for
I was looking for a reasonable ball head to use on multiple platforms; on top of a monopod using the 3/8 screw; on a Joby SLR flex pod using the 1/4 screw; and on a future mid-weight carbon travel tripod leg set. It needs to hold fairly lightweight - perhaps 3 lb max - mirrorless cameras and occasionally long (100-400 zoom) lens. The head seems very well made, the main ball control knob works really well, and I particularly appreciate the Arca-st... Show More

Not worth a dime and no customer support
I am a landscape photographer and I purchased this ball head about 2 years ago and it is terrible. In just over a year the pan lock does not hold and it has an increasing gap to the point the camera leans about 1-2 degrees as soon as you let go. It makes it very hard to get a straight horizon. I contacted both the manufacturer and B&H and did not receive any support. As a photography instructor, I do not recommend anything from Oben and all I heard from B&H was, we will look into it.

Excellent compact ball head!
Very well made ball head at a fraction of the price of its European competitor. I use it with my mirrorless system & monopod.

Would recommend this ball head
Bought this ball head to use in place of a ball head I use for macro photography. For the price, this is a solid piece of equipment and works very well. I like that it can be used to take panos by loosening one knob and has a built in leveling bubble. Overall a nice ball head that does very well for its small size.

Great Ball Head
Easy to use, with a solid high-quality look and feel. I bought this head as an upgrade to replace the head that came with my Oben tripod, and I am happy with my purchase.

nice item
It;'s a very nice, compact ball head. the quick release is quick but firm when locked, I mount a very heavy camera/lens combo and it never complained. Nor I.

Great Ball Head If You Can Keep It Tight
Works great with one exception. Holds a DSLR and 300mm lens with no movement. Prior to purchasing I did not understand review comments about the ball head not staying tight; now i understand. It is difficult to tighten the ball head sufficiently to my tripod so the the head does not come loose. After using the ball head/tripod for a while it is not unusual to find that the ball head has started to come loose from the threaded stud on the tripod. Should be pretty simple to tighten so that it stays tight but have not figured out how as of yet.

Not the value it seems to be
There are a number of things to really like about this tripod. It's very compact and lightweight. It really COULD be a good tripod. But one of the the Non-Rotating Twist Lock Legs has failed, and a two legged tripod is useless. This is the second time in a month an Oben product has been a complete fail.

Bad center colomn
I read all the reviews so I knew about the center column issue. I though the issue had been fixed by Oben but no, the central column is still very wobbly. I use the tripod to support a Wimberley gimbal and a large & heavy 400mm telephoto lens (6.3kg) so I do not need the central column. The finish is nice but I think you should not use that tripod for more than 25lbs load. The tripod is very light and the twist looks won't rust when use at the beach. Overall a good tripod for the price but it does not equal my Manfrotto 057

Wonderful Ball head, Pan Knob a little tight in the start
Its a great head, i would only rate a product 5 if it is absolutely out of the world, so don't go by the 4 stars i gave, its a quality head. But it has two minor irritations, the pan knob came tightly screwed , so to loosen it took some effort, but once opened it was good, Hope they don't send it so tightly locked. The second one was the tension screw, i didn't know from the picture that it is of a screw type, i initially thought of buying the Fei... Show More

using it with my Oben monopod
different kind of head and takes a bit getting used to but it works well. my only complaint is that it's a bit heavy

Works well as mono-pod had. Would buy again.
Use it as head on mono-pod with long telephoto lens. Support the lens weight well aand the single lever is easy to lock down when in desired position.

Great ball head
This ball had has been a pleasure to use. It holds my 7DMarkII and Sigma 150-600C no problems at any angle. Its fine control is very good. Compared to other cheaper ball heads I have used when you lock it down it shifts the point of direction some. this ball head keeps it directly at what you pointed at when clamping down.

Great light weight basic ball head
Works well on my monopod or my lighter weight trippod to support my Sony A7ii mirrorless camera. Adjustment knobs feel smooth and provide a firm hold when tightened down. Would buy again.

A Solid Tripod Head
I'm pretty happy with this tripod head, although it's a bit heavy compared to my lightweight travel legs. However, It is sturdy and the knobs all work well. It's a really solid head for use with your DSLR and the 360 motion is cool, but I'm not sure why the price tag is so high. You could definitely find something comparable on a cheap tripod and buy it all together, or even just a head that does just about the same thing but doesn't cost $75. Price aside, you shouldn't be disappointed with its functionality.

Great small ball head for the price!
I have always been very pleased with Oben products. I feel they are made well and aren't over-priced! It was a little smaller than I had expected, but it works great!

Poor design - binds up even after warranty repair
Bottom mount plate would bind if base screws were tight and not rotate. Sent it to manufacturer for repair and when I got it back it worked for a few days and then the base plate locked up solid and no way to loosen the tension and rotate the ball head.

Needs a little work to mount
Threads needed a little reworking with a tap (tap and die) to properly fit a 3/8 to 1/4 adapter (I tried multiple adapters and other 3/8 bolts from multiple monopods and tripods). This was probably mostly due to paint applied after millwork. Also, the tiny hex screws at the base were loose (so panning lock wasn't tight and it wobbled a little), but easily tightened and now mounted to Velbon Ultra 655A and working great. Friction is mostly even. Large knob works great. Smaller knob works well enough. Arca clap is fine.
