Doesn't Support Any Weight
This ball head advertises a max load weight of 8 pounds, however it can't even support my Lumix G7, which weighs less than 2lbs, without sagging. Keep in mind when purchasing this that you're paying for four redundant bubble levels and metal construction, not anything that actually works.

My first carbon fiber tripod
I'm a Gitzo guy but I just couldn't spend that kind of money on a carbon fiber tripod when I have a metal Gitzo that works just fine although heavy. I looked at the CT-2391 because it has less joints to flex but again, the cost kept me from pulling the trigger. Then B&H put the CT-2491 on sale at a considerable discount and I jumped on it. I removed the center post for the low angle option.Everything is very solid even when the legs are fully ext... Show More

Great buy!
Great tripod! I love the multiple levels. I use it with my Canon t5i DSLR. The only reason I gave it 4 out of 5 stars is because the tripod head could be a little easier to move.

So far so good
Since I'm homeless I bought what I can afford. This is a heavy tripod at my age (65) weight is an issue. My old Manfrotto is still working but my hand has difficulty with the small knobs so I bought this one So far the only thing I find inconvenient is when I spread the legs for low photography there is no spring action to secure the legs, I have to manually push the locking mechanism. Simple and Easy
This ball head works great for my particular needs. I'm a hiker and carry an Oben monopod. The one lever operation allows me to set up quickly whenever I need to get a fast shot of something. It has three leveling bubbles and a locking quick release. If I ever need to replace it, I will buy it again.

Tripod Head
This tripod head has the position of the knobs different than the Manfrotto heads I'm used to. The knob arms are shorter. But after becoming familiar with the changes, it operates well. It could stand some improvement in the smoothness of panning and tilting. To get a smooth pan/tilt, the knobs need to be adjusted to be very loose, which also allows the camera position to move when you don't want it to. But this is still a good tripod head for the money.

Great Tripod: Works brilliantly!
The tripod is fairly lightweight; had no problem lugging it up a steep mountain. Incredibly adjustable. The three sets of levels came in use more than I anticipated. The reversible stem allowed me to get some great low shots while doing timelapses. Overall great product. Only complaint would be the quick release has a tendency to loosen from the camera. Hasn't been a major problem, may need be easy to fix. The ball and socket movement does not make it ideal for video panning, but can get the job done if in a pinch.

Great fit
I found this tripod to fit my needs perfectly. Looking for a taller tripod to carry with me on my travels. Very sturdy.

Nice head
Nice head for the price, I didn't used it outdoors till now, smooth enough, looks durable, and I recommended it for any one.

It's just what I need.
I like the Arca-type release, easy and positive. Panning a pivot without all those handles sticking out, getting in the way and being difficult to use. Compact and easy to pack.

Solid value
It's the first ball head I've ever used, so I can't compare, but for the money I'm happy. It adjusts easily, it's light enough, not too large, and adjusts the way I need it to. Couple things though, the Arca compatible plate doesn't tighten to my camera as well as I'd like. The camera can swivel on it slightly. And the blue ring with numbers, around the tension knob, spins freely, making it worthless. All I know is one way tightens up the ball and the other way loosens it. Which is all you need to know anyways, so I suppose it's pointless to begin with.

I'm a travel photographer and bought this tripod for it's lightweight but comprehensive usage. Worked great while traveling through Mexico and Guatemala, I love the multiple bubble levels to ensure a level viewpoint on the camera! no complaints thus far.

Update on Oben tripod issues by Randy
Oben sent a new set of shims to see if it would help with the center column wobble. Unfortunantly it did not. The design for the center column is not capable. I did manage a fix by removing the entire center column and replaced it with a flat base that Kirk had for a similar issue with Gitzo tripods. With an Oben leveling base and my Induro bhl3 ballhead I now have a rock solid system, albiet my ballhead and leveling base are heavy. Without this ... Show More

Sturdy Tripod Head
I use this pan/tilt head on a Feisol tripod. It works beautifully. It may not be as compact as I would like but it easily carries the weight of my camera (Canon 70D) and lens (Canon 24-105mm)- my previous tripod couldn't. It has three leveling bubbles so I no longer need to carry my hot-shoe leveler with me. I also like the independent controls for the horizontal and vertical axis. It is relatively light but I wouldn't call it lightweight. However, it feels sturdy enough to hold a lens heavier than my current one.

And hold the weight it says it will
I have had 3 Oben Ball heads and the first failed after about 2 years. not bad. I guess for the price. I decided to upgrade to this one and the 126. I am very disappointed in these heads. First the tensions knobs are insanely hard to get tight... no lever??? really? Not a smart move. They also slip without hitting the max weight limit. Hope they improve this idea.

Solid and smooth
I haven't had many chances to use it yet but the few times I have I have really enjoyed how solid and smooth this head is! Does exactly what I want it to, isn't confusing to use, and feels very well built!

Excellent
This is a big improvement over the pistol head I was using. Much sturdier. I like the one-knob locking method, although I'm still getting used to finding the knob, as it's a little small. Holds my medium format camera with a fairly heavy lens with no problem. A good buy for those of us who do not need a head with precise click adjustments.

Creep
The metal ball head is solid and secure. My problem is with the quick release mechanism. There is too much play once the camera is mounted. The only way to adjust this ball head is to support the camera while tightening the adjustment know on the ball head. This is fine, and is recommended standard procedure. However, upon releasing the camera, the head settles into place, completely altering the composition of the shot. I understand this is common with lower priced units, but I have not experienced it to this degree in comparably priced heads.

Nicely made ball head
I'm using this on a Manfrotto 679B monopod for extra stabilization with multiple cameras and lenses. It is well made and the knobs and ball action work smoothly. Nice medium weight ballhead for general use. One minor complaint - the blue index ring around the large tension dial is useless because it spins freely independent of the knob. I don't see that as serving any useful purpose, but it also is no big deal since you just tighten the knob by feel anyway.

Oben Single Lever Ball Head BA-117
Replaced a Oben BE-108T with this model (the BA-117). I much prefer the single-lever control of this model and the quick-lever locking knob assembly. I'm in my 60s, have hands that ache from arthritis and don't work particularly well in the cold. I found the adjustment knobs of the 108T difficult to handle. I find this model much easier to use and equally as rigid and stable. I'm very happy I made the switch.

This thing is a great
I wanted a good ball head for a my photo tripod and I really love this one. I wouldn't advice buying it for video work. The price is very good and it was a very pleasant surprise to find out that the quality is so good. Aside from the ball head ,the 3 bubble level really help to have it perfectly balanced. It locks the plate really secure also.It is not that heavy for the amount of weight is supposed to carry.
