Great Price, Great Product
Small and agile comes to mind when using this ball head, works so well I will be purchasing another one for a second tripod i just bought!!!

Excellent
My first foray into ball heads, this one works very well. No issues with loosening. The quick-release works as expected and it's easy to level.

Great, but...
This head is great except for one thing. The action is very smooth, and the lock tightens well. My one complaint is that there is only one 90 degree notch. This means that often times the locking lever gets in the way of the camera, and vice versa. If this head had a second notch, like my Manfrotto head, it would be perfect.

Does all I could ask for
The last tripod I bought was probably over 20 years ago. It came out on holidays and family events, and finally bit the dust. This one is way beyond "Ole Tri", and I have already executed shots not possible previously. Great value, with solid construction and capabilities.

Over priced poor quality
I got this ball head 3 months ago and have been unhappy with it. Its tensioner knob movies back and forth like its loose. Was a lot cheaper when I got it had gone backup in price would not buy this again. Call oben CustomerSupport and they would take 3 weeks to fix I pay for shipping both ways.

Good ball head for the money
Bought this to use as an alternative to the head that came with my Sunpak tripod, which was a low-cost lever-handle head. I rated it at four stars since it is not a top-of-the-line head and thus works less smoothly as one would. Beyond that, however, it is a really good ball head as when locked into position it stays there. Prudent use says that it should not be loaded to its rated 11-lb. max but if you're using a full frame DSLR with a medium te... Show More

Perfect for Travel
This is my second Oben Ba-108 Ball Head. I wanted it for my monopod and I also wanted a second one to use for travel, one on my smaller tripod and one on the monopod. Also one plate on each of two different cameras to make a quick switch. My cameras are a micro four-thirds mirrorless, total weight with heaviest lens about 27 ozs., and a small point and shoot. I'm also planning to get a cell phone holder. This is a perfect addition to my travel gear.

Professional Grade at a Beginner's Price
Very impressed about the quality. Should have sold for a lot more. You can be assured B&H only sells high quality products.

Practical and More
Lightweight, VERY versatile, VERY steady, VERY sturdy, quick to set up or close up. Easily stored and transported. Looks to be very durable in a wide variety of climates. As described and a fantastic by comparison to the 2 I owned. It replaced both of them - best of both and more.

Excellent Ball Head
This ball head has been used twice atop my monopod. It worked beautifully. The single lever was very easy to set and unset. It was better than knobs used in the past. It is recommended.

Not Impressed
Hand-tightening head onto tripod with similar specs caused Pan function to jam up. Backing off to almost loose restored pan function but I'm concerned that the head will come undone during use.

Great Product Not So On Shipping
Tripod is going to be great for the things that I photograph from landscapes to portraits. With the ability to flip the head over it will make getting macro photos much easier. Looks well made and sturdy. So I am happy with the tripod. Now as for their ability to ship the product on time, they missed the promise date three times. So if you need it in a hurry, order a week or two in advance.

Good right out of the box
I was impressed with the legs and the latches to hold them up. I have had bad luck with this type of latch system in the past, but these seem pretty sturdy. I put a pair of Celestron 15 X 70 Binoculars which are 4.8 lbs. and found system very sturdy and easy to use. I just wanted a low cost set-up and I couldn't be more happy. I didn't try any of my other video and cameras but it seems great for the price. I highly recommend this but I am not a pro. The pro stuff is so expensive.

Simplicity
Surprisingly capable, inexpensive ball head. Used with a 5D and a 70-200 lens on a Platypod. Very easy to position.

Good buy!
I already owned its bigger brother, Oben BA-117; and very much like it. This one is no different---a solid, smooth, durable, and dependable mechanism. And with just a little practice, it's quick handling. I do a lot of dslr shooting in the field, on the fly. And I have them both mounted on suitably-sized monopods. This one is better suited for light to medium camera setups. Would not hesitate to buy another.

Baseplate Clamp Not Standard
When I pulled the ball head out I checked it over to see how well it was made. All appeared fine, then I mounted it on a tripod and put my camera on it that has a L bracket base plate. The plate clamp would not tighten the base plate and the camera would slide back and forth. I tried 2 more Really Right Stuff and 3 Arca Swiss plates. All had the same problem. I called immediately for an RMA and sent it back immediately. I have a lot of equipment, and EVERYTHING has to work together.

Versatile and stable
Nice build quality without being too expensive. Stable enough for 2 minute exposures of stars, but perhaps in high wind it's good to use the weight hook. I like that the center column can be shortened to just a stub and that it includes a direct camera attachment, you can trim down the weight quite a bit this way and also achieve lower angles without inverting the center column.

Couldn't support a 70-200 2.8
My old 3rd party ball head finally died on me and got this one as a replacement. I needed something to hold a DSLR with some 2.8 glass steady enough for macro and product shots. This cheaper option seemed like a good deal but didn't work out as well. The big knob is hard to get tight and when tight, it still creeps down with a big lens. If you don't need a super tight and steady setup then this might be a good option for you tho.

Small and well built
A product of very good construction, light and compact. I use it on my monopod. Highly recommend.

Sturdy ball head tripod with levels under $200 with bag
I've never owned a professional-grade tripod until this year - and really like my upgrade. Pardon my lack of technical jargon...I was accustomed to tripods with a plastic stabilizer that connected the 3 legs and slid down the middle, limiting the angle; no levels, and limited range of motion without the ball head joint. This sturdy tripod has a great build quality (solid aluminum body, nice legs, ball head locks into place well), and has two opti... Show More

For $75, this is a steal.
If you remember to snug the ratchet on the camera plate, this is a very stable platform. At this price, I have no issues -- I love this thing.

Love /Hate Relationship
I have the BC-126 model. It was delivered misaligned so despite fully tightening the screw it still had a little wobble. Secondly, like many others the tension screw was a pain until I made a minor correction. I disassembled the head and sprayed it with Silicone Lubricant. Now I absolutely love my ball head --- Like Butter!!

Great Tripod - Won't fit in a carry on bag
Love this tripod's stability and weight. I've been running around NYC with it all weekend without any issues. It is sturdy, there is no shaking, etc. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is it won't fit in any standard airline carry on bag. It makes traveling with it just a little bit of a pain.

In the future, I will look again at this product
This is my first purchase of a ball head for my tripod,to say that I am more than satisfied would be an under statement. I found that my older tripod is a lot steadier, which I believe is because the BA-111 allows me to tighten all of the other adjustments on the tripod shifting to the new ball head which complements the camera. My confidence is restored in that I can concentrate on my photography and not on adjustments.
