Oben Rocks
I was originally skeptical of the Oben brand but have come to appreciate the quality of the brand and the overall performance of its products. Being able to swap out the heads to fit the shooting situation without blowing the budget is outstanding.

You get what you pay for
I bought the 3way pan/tilt head to enable me to have 2 hands on the tripod to have more mobility. Well, that was true, but when it came time to lock of the camera, it kept on moving. My hands were pretty sore tightening it down. I was eventually able to do so, but my hands were raw.

Great head for tabletop tripods
Bought this to use with a FEISOL TT-15 Mark 2 Tabletop Tripod. Very compact and easy to use. Held my Olympus EM1.2 and Oly 40-150 f2.8 with ease.

Just what I needed
So when I first got this thing in the mail the top popped off and I started to freak out because I thought that I had broken it but I after reading the instructions I saw that it was apart of the functions. It does what I need it to do, nothing fancy. it fits the AC-2361 tripod and my Nikon D5600 perfectly. No complaints.

Great for travel and great value
Been traveling a lot lately and never seem to have my tripod with me when I need it. Watched Scott Kelby's video on travel and his use of the Platypod Ultra and followed his suggestion and teamed the Oben BE117 with the Platypod and I have never been happier. No problem supporting my Nikon D-810 with battery grip and a 24-120mm or 70-200mm f/4 mounted. My RRS 55 is sitting gather dust.

Arrived not fully functional
I took it out of the box and set it up. It all looked solid and great, accept one of the retractable feet that give stability to the legs wouldn't engage because the twist that engages it was stripped or incompletely installed. B and H was great about a return. I decided to buy a different tripod because there are enough reviews about Oben's tripods have leg problems. this is disappointing to me, as I loved my aluminum Oben. But, quality control ... My Carry Partner
The best tripod is the one you have with you and this one is the perfect weight to carry for all uses. It holds the weight of my D500 with 70-300 lens and tele-converter. Since I do not use longer lenses, I believe this tripod will serve me well for a long time to come. Worked perfectly for ground level macro work and long exposures. Happy purchase!

Works For Me!
Another well built product from Oben. I use the Ball Head with the Oben GH-30 Gimbal Head. First time using the Arca-Type Quick Release. Another plus, it works great with the L-Bracket

Good Tripod for the Price
I purchased this for Architectural / Real Estate photography. It is nice and light and raises up to a nice height. I tried using it with the center pole raised but it becomes too shaky for me. I would say this is good for general photography. For architectural use I wish it was more steady. I use wireless tethering to take pictures so there is absolutely no shake caused by me. When I auto-align multiple exposures in Photoshop, they are slightly... Show More

Very good price point just wished Gimbal Head is better!
I like the tripod a lot because of the maximumwithout having to use the center column. I have no complaint on this one. The GH-30 is very cheap at $150 with the $100 off. The panning and vertical movements are very tight for a Gimbal head. I squirted some penetrating oil in the gap but it doesn't seem to help. It would have been a 4-star rating, but I took one star off because of the tightness of the moving parts.

Decent head, terrible QR plate
I bought this ball head after having great luck with a much smaller Oben tripod setup which I used for a good bit of long exposure photography. I love how low Oben tripods get compared to the raved Manfrottos - a brand I never cared for after seeing so many small broken pieces. I was excited to have a ball head that was well beyond the support weight that I need. (maximum 12lb load with my timelapse setup) This thing locks down well, but only if... Show More

Great ball head, until it broke
I was loving this thing. Used it on a Rhino slider with Sony alpha cameras in interviews. I've had it just over two months, though, and the locking knob doesn't work anymore. It's stuck at about 80% locked. I can still use it for interviews, but if I'm trying a shot with a bit of tilt or anything off-center, the lock loses its grip. I can't loosen or tighten. It's been well-cared for, so I'm not sure if I just got a lemon or what. It's a shame. This was functioning exactly how I needed it to, but I'm hesitant to buy another one and flush another $70 down the toilet.

Great Ball Head
I really like the Oben BE-117 Ball Head. It is well made. The head operates smoothly. If I need another one, I will purchase another Oben. D

Central column poor design
I've written a laudatory review earlier. This is an update. The central column tends to slip down over time when there is moisture in the air. The whole design of the column could be better as at least one review indicated.

Works great.
Solidly built, enough drag to prevent camera and lens from flopping when changing positions, supports Canon 80D and a 135mm lens on an Induro tripod. I would buy this again or reccommend it to a friend.

Great addition to Oben mono-tripod
Lightweight effective addition to Obens lightweight monopod-tripod which is my go-to device with camcorder already attached the the quick-release plate. Saves carrying heavy loads.

Size is good, but I replaced the Arca QR plate
The Oben BE-108 fits quite nicely on my trusty Bogen 3218 monopod. On the monopod I don't need the Oben head's panning feature or the bubble levels. I was uncomfortable clamping a Canon 100-400mm lens with EOS 7DMkII to the Oben's small Arca quick release head. So I replaced it with a Wimberly C-12 QR clamp and some thread locker. The original plate should be fine, but I like the C-12 on an Oben CTM-2500 monopod used for travel.

Excellent for a travel tripod
The light and compact design of the head and quick release system is perfect for my Nikon D5500. Three bubble levels help position the camera effectively. Works well with my Manfrotto 290. Why pay double for the Manfrotto equivalent?

Weak Head, Awkward to Sling Over Shoulder
I really wanted to love this tripod as much as the reviews suggest, but all in all, it's a pretty weak tripod because of the head. True, like I said it is a bit awkward to sling over the shoulder in you're trekkinaround outdoors, but the tripod itself isn't the problem. The head's grips tighten down then come a bit lose, it's not too fluid, and the plate attached to my camera keeps coming loose and the camera swings around howevergravity likes it, that's the real deal breaker.

Great Head couple quirks
The head can handle the weight with ease and seems quality. Comes with a 1/4 thread adaptor and Allan wrench. The large tighteners are nice to function. Especially the tightener on the ball. You can release it slightly and move to make slight adjustments rather than having it go completely loose and making adjustments seem so drastic like a lot of ball heads do. But the quirk is that sometimes the large tighteners get in the way of each other m... Show More

First Impressions
Just got my tripod today and was quick to open so I could see if I had one that had the center post wobble issue or not. I am very happy to say that my center post is stable at all three positions I tried. I then attached my gimbal head (Manfrotto) with my heaviest lens (Tamron 150-600) with my heaviest body (Sony A99 II with extra grip) with the center post at max position and then a few lower positions. The center post worked like a champ in e... Show More

Very smooth
Great build quality, easy to use and lightweight. It holds my Nikon D750, with 15-30mm f2.8 Tamron lens, perfectly when shooting real estate. My only complaint is that the plate screw kept getting loose. I solved the problem with PTFE tape wrapped around the thread.
