Oben ACM-2400L 4-Section Aluminum Self-Standing Monopod w/ VH-R2 Tilt Monopod Head Kit

Decent monopod
I got this for free with the purchase of a 5D Mark III. I didn't even know that it came with the purchase, and had no intentions of using it, but actually decided to give it a try. I shoot video for weddings, and I usually use the manfrotto monopod with the three legs at the bottom. This Oben doesn't have the 3 legs and it was kind of nice to not have them. By the way, this Oben monopod doesn't have a head on it. So I took the video head off of the manfrotto. It was lighter and less bulky.

Great Addition
This was my first monopod and it came with my purchase of the Nikon D600. I have been thinking about investing in a monopod for awhile, due to being tired of carrying around my heavy tripod. First impressions out of the box was that this monopod was going to be very sturdy and I wasn't going to have to worry about my expensive camera sitting on top of this thing. I used it all day during a World Superbike race at Laguna Seca and am very satisfied. Wish I would have just bought one earlier.

Nifty tool
I recently purchased the 5D Mark III and this came along with my purchase. I did not realize that this is exactly what I have been needing! My trouble is that I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my dominant hand and that makes holding the camera body with a 70-200mm lens perfectly still a challenging. I am now going to use this nifty monopod to support the weight of the camera and the lens during wedding ceremonies. It may look odd at first, but this is the solution to my problem!

Seems ok
I got this monopod as part of a bundle. It seems sturdy, but I'm not sure how long the plastic latches will last. I had previously purchased an Induro M25 monopod. It's a five section unit that collapses down to 16, weighs 17 ounces and fits into a pelican case. I like the compactness of the Induro but it doesn't seem as sturdy as the Oben; but the Oben also weighs 26 ounces and would not be good for hiking. So I'll probably use the Oben when traveling is not an issue.

Bundled with 5D MKiii
So far so good. I've never seriously thought about getting a monopod, for the shooting I do it tends to be a tripod or nothing. This one came bundled with the 5D that I bought so I played around with it and it seems pretty handy. It looks well-made and it is fairly light. The one thing that I didn't like was that when I used the built-in screw mount it marred the rubber on the bottom of my brand new camera. From now on I will be using it with a different head attached.

Oben ACM-2400 4-Section Aluminum Monopod
I bought this monopod with the Oben VH-R2 Swivel/Tilt Head. I have been using it with my Canon 5D Mark III body and f/2.8 70-200 Canon L lens. It supports this combination without issue even though this is heavy equipment. The monopod is lightweight and easy to use. I really like the flip locks. The unit is not overly expensive as compared to other like units. I have not used it extensively yet, but have found nothing to not like about the monopod and tilt head.

Nice Monopod
I recieved this in a package deal, when I bought my Canon 5D Mark 3. The monopod is well built. I'm going to use it as a light stand, my helper will be holding for me. The monopod is too short for me to use with my camera. The monopod is built for people that aren't as tall. It's ideal for any brand flash and a light modifier, such as an umbrella, so you and your helper can go mobile, with only minimal equipment, and get great lighting at the same time.

Great Monopod
This is a great tool when a tripod would be cumbersome to carry around or use in tight spaces. The three stabilizing legs are easy to set up and put away. Takes less than a minute to deal with. The latches are quick and easy to use. Also the extra height is terrific for me when shooting portrait format. The only reason I didn't give this a five star rating is that it's a bit on the heavy side for a monopod. The legs add some weight to the unit.

Lightweight and Easy to Use
This is a great monopod. Lightweight and easy to move around with. I've used it for about 2 weeks, and so far I love having it. It's much easier to move around on video shoots. I use a 5d Mark iii in the field sometimes, and having this monopod has helped a lot. It also is quite compact for traveling too. The monopod feels solid and I trust my camera on it. I just wish it came with legs built into it for self support that is sometimes needed.

Oben Monopod
This monopod came as an incentive (gift) from B&H when I purchased my Canon 6D. It's light, and well-made, extends, and collapses easily, but is not quite as functional as my Manfrotto. This is an excellent piece of gear for someone who needs a monopod for occasional use, or wants to try a monopod to see if it provides a more stable platform than hand-held. An add-on head will increase the overall cost, but greatly improve functionality.

Great monopod
The Oben monopod proved to be a real workhorse on a recent nighttime shoot at the National Mall. The extending mini-legs give it additional stability, but even without the leg support the monopod helped me keep the camera steady for long (1/4 second) night time exposures. The Oben had no problem accommodating my Canon T2i with 15-85mm lens (a heavy duo) and was easy to tote around both in the park and on the subway. Highly recommended.

Unstable
I bought this monopod because of the mini-legs, expecting that it would serve as a lightweight alternative to a tripod in quick photo and video assignments. But it doesn't. When the monopod leg is extended it becomes very unstable. Even when you take your hands off the camera it continues to shake for a couple of seconds. So it is unstable with the legs and heavy (because of the legs) when you just want to use it as a regular monopod.

Seems ok
This thing is strong. Don't know about the plastic sections locks other that they work. Hand strap is to long. Belt clip makes strap 3 or 4 inches to long to get a good tight grip on rubber hand hold. There is no way to shorten it. The platform that holds the camera or lens or swivel head has set screws that can scratch and cut in to what ever is attached to this mounting plate a small rubber gasket would take care of this problem.

Great for traveling
For stability I found myself always using a Giottos tripod and ballhead when I went on vacation and on hiking trips. While this provides the best platform for long shutter shots and HDR, the weight becomes a burden after a few miles of hiking. I received this monopod and was pleasantly surprised by not only the build of the item, but more importantly the weight. It is extremely light and will hold most ballheads. Highly recommend.

Okay monopod
This came with a package deal when I bought my 5d markiii, it's a good monopod. I have a oben carbon fiber monopod that I had bought a few years ago that I prefer. The carbon fiber monopod also has a retractable spike on the end which is nice if your hiking. The acm-2400 aluminum does not. It does however have heavy duty locking clips which I wish the carbon fiber monopod had. It is a little heavy and bulky but does the job.

Nice product but a little noisy
I am just learning about taking photo's with a DSL camera. I liked the design of this item for the use of the legs to hold the camera while taking photos at our daughters cheer competitions from the bleachers then being able to use just the pole from the sidelines. The only issue is when the legs are folded and in the base they are very loud. I found taking a section of electrical tape and wrapping the legs helps.

Stable on the heavy side
I give this product a 4 star its not perfect but it solid for what I wanted to used it. This product serves perfectly well as a walk around and travel by land a bit cumbersome as a carry on not sure thou. But using it as a pole, light stand for speed light and other not so heavy light this product is awesome. Play this product with Wireless Gigtube remote trigger or Hahnel you will not be disappointed.

Very sturdy, well built.
Upgraded from the ACM-1400 model. Using the original Canon 400mm 2.8 version 2. Went to the BH store to test out the flex on a fully expanded monopod. This felt comparable to the more expensive Gitzo. I prefer the latch style over the twist style. Feels very sturdy and does not sag under the +15lbs of weight. The ACM-1400 did fine but felt a little wobbly. That model does fine with my 150-600 tamron.

Aluminum Monopod by Oben
I have never used a monopod before but must say that it has lightened my load and allowed for better stability when I use my Canon 100-400 zoom lens. I prefer to hand hold but on those long wait periods for the hummingbirds to get to the feeder it has made my shooting less exhausting. It is a simple device to use, works great, and I especially like the belt clip which is a nice added feature.

Beastpod
This monopod came for free for my purchase. I already had a monopod so i didn't need a new one because of weight limitations. However, I was surprised about the ruggedness and the build of this monopod. The locking levers were sturdy and overall was a great feeling monopod. I have since given it away to a fellow videographer who was looking for a monopod and has praised its performance.

Very Handy!
Since I received my Oben self-standing Monopod, it came in handy when I didn't want to use my tripod! The legs that came with it, works wonders. It's sturdy, held my Nikon d3400 & Canon T7i without issue, stayed in place. Great for an extra when working with two cameras. I would recommend this to those who shoot on the go, and in need of convenience when shooting. Would buy another!

Awesome piece of equipment
This Mono/Tripod is very handy to have and easy to set up quickly. It will not replace a good sturdy tripod but it is definitely a good handy item to have in a pinch. The legs are stored in the shaft of the monopod and just takes about 30-40 seconds to unscrew splay and screw back in. You have true no hands needed support for the quick run and gun shots were you need the stability.

Reliable Light Weight Monopod
This Oben Monopod was a very welcomed nice surprise. I already have one and my wife wanted one for her camera so she is the proud owner. It is light weight but sturdy and easy to balance. It extends easily and supports the camera well. It is used with both camcorder and DSLR cameras. It is well constructed and appears as it will wear well. Only having it a month, time will tell.

Nice, Sturdy Monopod
I intend to use this monopod for waterfowl photography at a local wildlife management area. I've fitted it with a Manfrotto 234 tilt-head modified to accept a Jobu Design QRR-125 quick release plate. The end result is a very sturdy, affordable, and mobile set up. The Oben monopod snaps firmly into place, and it easily extends enough that at 6'1 I can shoot standing straight up.
