This camera is like the living embodiment of the controversial color of the dress internet debacle. Some people love the swivel LCD touch screen, decent 26.2 MP sensor, and wifi capabilities. The dynamic range issue is real, not overblown
I rented this camera to verify what several tests already prove, .. that it creates more noise on shadow areas if you look closer.. Doing OK so far.
I have an older 7D MII that needs rehabbed and got this to use while that is away. Currently it is sharper than the 7D on images. The color is OK (like the 7D) It is better than the 70D I have and as good or better than any of the other bodies. Its shutter is has a rougher noise than the 7D and I expect it will not last as long as the older camera has. It has no built in flash and only has one memory card slot. I do Professional Nature Photography but was very hesitant to purchase this camera based on some reviews. I recently purchased the 6d 2 from B&H and it is excellent. Great upgrade from the 6D
So far I am happy with this camera. I have had the original 6D since it came out in 2012. Time to upgrade and make the original my back up. I am a photographer, not a videographer, so I could care less about no 4K. There are plenty of other options for video. Focus speed is much faster. Definitely an upgrade.
From 80D to 6D, I miss using the tilt swivel screen and the fast AF system, 6D MKII delivered everything I wanted, The only gripe I really have is the 98% coverage of the viewfinder you might not expect some stuff creeping on the edges of your photos. This camera takes amazing photos at a great price for a full frame camera. The size of the camera is approximately the same as the 70/80/90D cameras. Low light performance is great. There isnt much to complain about when it comes to taking quality pictures. My only complaint is with the button layout on the back. I recently wrote a review on the 6DmkII and I think I sounded a tad more negative than I should have been. Frankly, aside from the somewhat substandard DR this is a very good camera (CaptureOne11 mitigates the DR issue to a high degree). Stated another way. This camera received a lot of negative reviews when it came out. Some even called it the worst DSLR of 2017. I disagree. I will admit that the exclusion of 4K at this point in the game is a gross miscalculation on Canon's part. I do wish it had dual card slots. That being said it is a great camera for the money. Beware of reliability
I purchased this camera shortly before Christmas because the discounts offered were amazing. It was just too good of a deal to pass up. But warning, this model suffers the same problems as previous Canon models. For no reason whatsoever, the camera will freeze up while in use. I have taken a few pics in low light with this camera and found they are clearer and have better colors than my original 6d. The touch flip screen is a welcome addition that allows ease of use in out of positions shots without being a contortionist. I am not sure about video as I do not blog or shoot video. This is great for anyone wanting a full frame camera that is turned off by the price of the more expensive bodies. I bought this to step up from my 70D, and couldn't be happier! Researched this for a long, long time. Rented one for work and knew it was the right choice, upgrade/add to my Rebel T3i. Image quality is great, camera performs like a champ. I used film cameras for many years and I bought an 80D as my first DSLR. Was not happy with the crop sensor, and wanted a full frame sensor anyway, so I did some homework and exchanged it for the 6D Mark II over the 5D Mark IV, which I considered overkill for what I wanted to do. EOS 6D Mark ll and PIXMA Pro 100
The 6D Mk ll takes beautiful pictures. That said, using them on Social Media is not possible at this time. PS Elements does not convert the Raw image despite claiming it does. You have to use Digital Professional 4.7 to do so, and the resulting JPEG conversion still is not accepted on Facebook for example. Had a 6D since 2013, after switching from Nikon (D600 oil on sensor issue did it for me...) and since then loved the 6D. Just now upgraded to the Mark II and its a thoughtful evolution from the 6D. Bought it brand new, used it for about an hour and it locked up on me. Wouldnt focus, couldnt use the menu or any other settings...anything. Took the lens on and off multiple times, turned it off and on multiple times, finally took it home and took the battery out and it finally worked again. I had a fully charged battery in it. I dont know about all the hate for this camera that Ive read online, but I for one am glad that I picked it up. I upgraded from the original 7D so it was a nice upgrade for me.
