I got this w/ the Black Friday deal. After selling the printer, getting the $350 rebate and the free included items along with the Battery Grip, I must have spent around $700. For that price there's no place for complains. Apart from that, I bought this as a stills/B-camera since I already own a C100 Mark II and a number of L and Sigma Art lenses. Could be great but is mediocre
Canon had a chance of hitting one out of the ballpark with this one but, since Canon is more worried about competing with its flagship full frame cameras, all they did was hit a foul ball. I read a lot of the reviews before purchasing this camera and decided to buy the 5D Mark III. I was not at all impressed with it. The images were really soft. I tried several different lenses and calibrated and still was not happy. I always had tack sharp images with the 6D and was not expecting this at all. I got the 6D in September, my first FF camera. I loved it & needed a second body so decided to try the 6D ll. The negative reviews Ive read were mostly centered around a worse dynamic range in lower ISO than the Mark l, the majority of my work is at higher ISO so thought it would not be an issue for me. As an owner of the original 6D purchased from BH in Dec. 2012, I understand your frustrations with both im/export tax hassles, and the image quality. I personally do not want to bad-mouthing Canon products, nor do I want to affect the sale of the 6D II at this website. Excellent Full-frame Canon Camera
Ive been shooting pictures for 35 years and using Canon equipment for the last 20 and Ive enjoyed shooting this camera more than any Ive owned...and Ive owned all of the XXD cameras as well as a couple of Rebels. I am very satisfied with this camera. I wanted a full-frame and this, for me, fits the bill. I am coming from a 70D and find this a big improvement. I would have loved a 5D Mark IV, which I think is the gold standard, but the price is too rich for me. Not everything I was looking for.
I read many reviews before making this purchase but I guess I missed the ones about not being able to open the RAW images in Microsoft 10. For me that was a deal killer. I did download the Canon software and was able to see and edit the RAW images but it didnt provide me with the flexibility I have with processing images from my 7D and 5DII cameras. I will not go into the detail that you can find on the hundreds of reviews performed on this camera but I must say that upgrading from a Canon 5D to a Canon 6D MKII is fantastic. Comparison is the thief of joy
It's not a 5d iv. It's not on the same level and anyone truly planning on getting a 5d iv wouldn't get less. There has been an argument on the "low" dynamic range. The dynamic range is so very similar to the 6d, which people loved. If you choose to compare, one must look at the dynamic range all the way through the ISO range to fully compare. Okay, but may return... AF Issues not in 5DMKIII
I tested this camera on several still shoots. Liked it enough to use it over my horse the 5DMKiii, although the MKiii is still awesome. I shoot lots of strobe-lit sports. BUT, today I shot the 6Dii remote with PW triggered from my 5DMKii and the focus jumped! A whole shoot out of focus. Way too complicated
I'll admit that I've probably got a Nikon brain. However, several years ago I decided to unload all of my Nikon equipment in order to travel lighter and purchased the Leica V-Lux 4. I got a chance to try out the 6D2 at my local camera store. I use a 6D1. In the video DLSR world, you can invest a lot of money. In my opinion, this is just as good as the 5D4 for video. No it doesn't shoot 4K, but that doesn't matter to me or a lot of other people. Sweet - Do It Again
I purchased this body because of it's low light features. Recently, I have been shooting birds in flight. The lenses I use; the 100-400mm L and the 1.4 extender, would not auto focus for me. I have a Canon 7D (converted to a full-spectrum sensor) a Canon 5D Mk III, and a Canon 70D. None of those camera bodies would allow me to auto focus the 100-400mm + extender. Great 2nd Camera For Weddings
Is it a 5DIV? No. Is it supposed to be? No. It's still a great camera. We shoot primarily weddings, both photo and video. We have 2 of these and use them as 2nd camera's for both photo and video. Great upgrade
I started out with a 60D, then went to the 6D, and now the mark II. I always liked the swivel screen on the 60D, and that's a nice addition to the Mark II, made sweeter by the touch screen. I purchased the M5 last year and that has a touch screen also so it was cumbersome to go back to the original 6D which didn't have one. Disappointing upgrade I think I would prefer the 7D Mark II
The software must be down loaded from the Canon website and then installed on your computer. You must do this before trying to install images or it wont work properly It is not compatible with with other Canon software. You can however use other images from the previous versions with it. Before purchasing this camera I read multiple reviews about the issue with the central autofocus cluster. While the cluster is fairly compact, it is easily to get around for an off center focused object. If you center your object and focus on it, and then move the camera to have the object off center it turns out great. It is not a pro body and so it feels different. I wanted a full frame and some better ISO for occasional use and could not justify a 1DX2. The 6DII is fine and works as it should. I do not like the mode dial. But in fairness, I have been shooting a 1dIV and a 1dIII the last couple of years and really like the controls of those bodies.
