Canon EOS 5D Mark IV DSLR Camera with 24-105mm f/4L II Lens

Excellent choice
I had a Canon 5d mark ii and was ready for a new camera. Since I have several canon lens it was either, sell everything and switch to another brand and go for the mark iv. The 61 point AF is definitely more complicated than the mark ii and there are some changes in the location of some buttons and some additional button, but overall it is easy to learn. I do suggest viewing several of the great youtube video tutorials available to understand the ... Show More

EOS Canon 5D Mark IV
I have been using Canon cameras for years. The mark IV has several improvements over its predecessor that makes it well worth the purchase. 30MP full-frame image sensor. Fast 61-point autofocus system. 7fps continuous shooting. Unlimited JPG shooting buffer. The build is solid as is with all of the 5d's, that I have used. Dual Pixel AF Live View focus system. 3.2-inch touch screen. Integrated GPS and Wi-Fi. Like the Mark III it has both CF and SD... Show More

Objective Short Term Review by a VFX Supervisor/Photographer
Hey guys, I am a VFX Supervisor by trade. So with my cameras I take a lot of spherical HDRIs (though now I use the theta, RIP canon for that one!) texture photos, reference photos, and occasionally shoot some plates. I'd say I do 80/20 photography/video. Having owned a Mkii and owning a Mkiii for the last 4 years, I eagerly lept to buy the Markiv. I bought it with the 24-70 kit lens (because that package, for some reason, was available sooner). I... Show More

Glad I Stopped Waiting for the 6D Mark II
I had been using the 6D and have been waiting for the Mark II, got sick of waiting, so started looking at the 5D Mark IV. The reviews were great, and when I went out one morning to take photos of lupines, I talked to 3 photographers there. They all had 5D IV's, and they all loved it. So I ordered one the next morning. The learning curve from the 6D was negligible, the only temporary problem being figuring out one of the AF menu settings. I've onl... Show More

Many modest upgrades wrapped around a great new sensor.
Coming from a 5D Mk III, I was a little skeptical about upgrading. After all, on paper, all I would get was a few more megapixels, a little more movie capability, and a number of small improvements. But the story on paper doesn't tell all. The new sensor is a step up in dynamic range (exposure latitude) over the Mk III, with an improvement at all ISO levels, but especially at the lower ISO range. While the advantage is a very modest half stop at ... Show More

Canon Delivers... while leaving room to evolve
I have been a Canon user for the last decade. I shoot still and video for approximately 20-30 weddings a year, numerous high profile events, and corporate video. The evolution of Canon cameras has been life changing for our business. The 5dMarkII, then III, and now IV have helped my business evolve. This latest innovation of wifi capabilities will change the way we deliver photos to our clients. The touchscreen is actually much more useful than I... Show More

5D Mark IV - Solid, Consistent Performer
My rating is solely based on still photography, not video. I didn't buy this camera to take videos. I could repeat all the glowing reports of other 5 star ratings but I thought I would consisely state why I like this camera: 1st - It has enough resolution (30mp) so I can crop and still enlarge my photos to 16x20. If there were more megapixels, I would have to worry more about mirror slap and super, super stable support systems. 30mp seems to be t... Show More

A Professional Tool
Prior to writing this I noticed nearly 300 people have written comments about the 5d Mark IV and, if you're reading mine, it is likely you also have read some of them along with published reviews. That means you already know about the camera's technical merits, the extent of its evolution from the Mark III, and it's perceived limitations. I want my comments to offer a different perspective, not only as professional photographer but as a journalis... Show More

I love it!
Outstanding easy-to-use hybrid camera. Pros: AWB-W allows for very pleasing colors in all lightning conditions ? huge step forward from Canon 6d and 5diii. VF AF is vastly improved and very accurate ? none of my lenses require and MFA anymore. Touch focus DPAF/follow focus is unbelievable! The best video AF I have ever seen and that includes shooting with 50L lens at f1.2 ? absolutely buttery smooth cinematic ! There is nothing like this on the m... Show More

An absolute workhorse!
I received a request to review this camera about a week after receiving the mk4. I felt that at the time, it was unfair to do an honest review because I have not had the opportunity to run it through it's paces. Another factor was the late release of RAW support. Well, after several events and most recently a wedding I have to say that I'm extremely happy with the purchase of this product. So here is a list of my favorite features: 1.) the touch ... Show More

Still one of the best full frame DSLRs out there
I ordered this camera the week it was released about 2.5 years ago. Upgraded from the 5D Mk III, that I felt had some minor issues with less than stellar noise in low light photography, subpar resolution and dynamic range that leaves a lot to be desired, and too few AF points. Mostly using my camera for travel photography, I also hated that I had to use a hot shoe add-on that needed a separate battery just to record GPS... Fast forward to the I... Show More

Because You Can't Sneak a RED Camera into Disneyland
First let me specify that I bought this camera to take photos of my kids, to capture 4K home video and sometimes shoot short video pieces for the web. I am *not* a wedding photographer or someone who has to make a living with this camera day in and day out. The full-frame stills absolutely live up to the Canon reputation -- the quality is, as expected, fantastic. There have been many critiques on the internet about the 5D mkIV's 4K video file for... Worth every penny!
What can I say that hasn't been said before? I'm just a hobbiest that shoots birds, wildlife, landscapes and other nature related images. I've been using a Canon 7D Mk II for a few years now, and upgraded to the 5D Mk IV for better low light capabilities. Was I ever surprised when I saw the increase in image quality of the images from the 5D compared to the 7D in good light, this was a huge upgrade for me! I do miss the reach that I lose wit... Familiar & high potential; Magic Lantern will get it there?
I got this to play with the dual-pixel raw output. That's a unique ability and the camera deserves 5/5 for having it, except there are some issues with how its implemented.... That's actually the story overall. The 5D IV is a very finished product that could easily be mistaken for any of a half decade's worth of Canon DSLRs -- which is a good thing, because it means it is very familiar and pretty. It also is a good thing that this has Canon's bes... Show More

It's beteer than most early Spec Only Reviews!
This launch had a many skeptical reviews based on the specifications. What they failed to point out is that the improvements are mostly based on workflow and the Mark IV ability to improve as a photographer! Key points; 30MP's, so say not as much as 50, true. The files will also be not as much of a headache, and the 30 does alow a lot more crop in, giving your primes much more zoom in post. That combined with the MUCH better autofocus means more ... Almost All The Right Features
What to say about this which hasn't been covered in a million forums. You all know about it's uselessness as a 4k video camera (what with the crop-factor and horrible codec) but it does very well in other areas. I primarily purchased this as a replacement to my 5D Mark III which I'd had since it's launch. Having moved on to a Sony a7s II for video production, this camera is my stills work-horse and video backup camera. Stills: Great added resolut... Show More

I've owned the 5D MkIII, as well as the 7D MkII and used them with my EF 500mm f/4L IS II and my EF 1.4x and 2.0x TC-III. These were excellent combinations in many regards, but all were frustrating to use when the 2.0x TC was added to the lens. The AF system were slow to acquire initial focus and then, if you lost focus, it would take around a second to reacquire focus. With the 5D MkIV, initial AF acquisition was almost instantaneous. This review will be straight and to the point! Lighter than the Mark III and feels good in the hands Color depth and clarity is fantastic compared to the Mark III and other Canon DSLRs Dark shadow detail adjustment in post processing has very little noise compared to Mark III 7 frames per second does not seem like much but it does make a difference! HDR is now dead! This camera is literally so good, you no longer need to shoot multiple images and combine in HDR.
