WD 4TB My Passport USB 3.0 Secure Portable Hard Drive (Blue)

UPC's:
WD 1TB Passport
The drive when connected to a USB port works fine. The software that needs to be installed is not easy since there is no written instructions. Furthermore, after installation of the drivers, it still requires downloading and installing updates. Plan on spending at least several hours if you want to use the features claimed.

Genius
A must-have tool for travelers! The ability to backup (up to 4 TB) of data by just plugging your SD card in is amazing. No longer need to worry about running out of space when on the road for extended periods. Highly suggested for 4k shooters

Small, convenient, and quick
I use as a backup drive attached to my PC via USB 3. Has worked flawlessly out of the box. Backups compare favorably to my other USB 3 drives. The small size will make it very easy to take along on trips.

No problems
I got my 250G .My Passport USB portable hard several years ago and never had a single problem with it; so, when I found I needed more storage space, I got another My Passport Brand product - WD 4TB My Passport USB 30 Secure Portable Hard Drive. I could not be happier with my choice - in every way.

Plug and Play
The product arrived on time. It came as advertised and it's easy to use. Just plug it in and move your data over to it. It also has software to allow you to backup your information. I haven't played around with it yet. But if you just want a good external drive to backup your information, this is it!

B&H performance is great.
B&H did great job, as usual. Proper product, shipped quickly. Only problem was they used USPS for shipment. USPS went from NY to NJ to Sacramento CA then to TX, therefore package arrived late - not fault of B&H. Only the USPS can figure out why the shortest route from NY to TX doesn't do through CA

It Works Just Fine
I use this drive and another external drive for duplicate backups of my MacBook Pro using Time Machine. Also use this to backup extensive photography files. It is not fast enough to use as a external work drive (I use an SSD for that) but it is just fine for backing up my stuff.

WD never disappoints me.
I always choose WD for portable hard drives. The design is fancy and solid. 4TB is enough for my daily use, storing and transferring my raw photos. USB 3.0 can reach 60MB/s when it links with my host PC. One of my friends has a desktop external hard-drive but he prefers my little WD since his one has fans and can be noisy at night. Never try to use its backup/secure software.

Always reliable
I have used WD hard drives for years. Never had one let me down, and this one is no exception. Plenty fast for video editing.

Good Backup
I've had the Hard Drive for a couple of weeks now. I use it to backup primarily video projects and files. I have re-edited some projects from it and the speed is adequate for that

WD 1TB My Passport Replacement for WD 500GB Passports
I have two WD 500GB Passports which I bought at Costco and thought would suffice for quite some time, but building a personal library of my documents and books and building a law library has used up a sizeable portion of one of the 500 GB drives. And building a movie/video library has also used up a sizeable portion of the other 500 GB drive. Western Digital has long been a good drive, going back to the days when a WD 3.2GB was a big drive for me. I figure these WD drives (and perhaps some additional) will be part of the legacy I will Leave behind.

Small and beautiful with plenty of storage.
First off, like all Western Digital Portable Drives, it is small. The orange is beautiful, bright and easy to distinguish between my other portable drives. At 4TB, it has plenty of space for all your media needs. I got it to clone my other drives, just in case because it's inevitable that drives will fail at some time. Reformatting the drive for my iMac was a breeze. I even partitioned it into 2 separate sections..... 1/2 for my GoPro footages an... Show More

Works for Windows 10 - Difficult to use for Windows XP
I bought this drive to transfer files from my old Windows XP Professional Computer to my new computer running on Windows 10. Since Win XP can only see drives up to 2 Tb, I bought this small 1 Tb drive to make sure the transfer would go without problems. Was I wrong !!! The Windows 10 computer will see the drive without problems. The XP computer recognized the drive, but would not see it, due to the "GPT Protective Partition". Re-formatting the ... Show More

Great hard drive, (curable) problems with using it on Mac
This disk became a brick after I re-formatted it for MAC. I returned it in exchange for another disk, and I had the same problem. However, I found a way around this problem. Apparently one should not format these drives by the latest Mac software 10.13 (!!!), only by the older versions 10.12 or older. This is what I did. After that, it works without any problems on my Mac running High Sierra 10.13. Perhaps WD people know it because at their websi... Show More
