I would buy it again and again.
It's not worth to buy a 2 TB disc when you can buy a 4 TB one for almost the same price. Small, fast and with a large capability. What more do you need?

Compact and runs on usb power
I really have to live with a drive for months, even years to know how good it is. But, I have had good luck with WD drives and I like the small size vs. large capacity of this one.

WD 4TB Portable Hard Drive
I purchased this for home desktop backup and file transfer & storage of work related items. I like the fact it can be secured and password protected for sensitive work files and peace of mind on everything else. Transfer rates are pretty good and I like the color options, this helps separate my easily from others ( I chose Orange). Backed up my files and then loaded work files to transfer and still had 1.5 TB left on the drive. You can't beat WD products as everyone I have owned is still working flawlessly and I have 4, 1 is still going strong after almost 10 years.

Very good design. Colors are great to differentiate projects
I bought this as an old drive I used for Time Machine backup showed some issues. I went to B&H and WD portable drives were the best value for price / capacity. I could have gone for the 3 TB drive, but the 4 TB was just marginally pricier and allowed me to keep more backups. WD offer several colors and it is a great option to differentiate projects / uses for each drive. Even the USB 3 cable is orange, and make it is easier to unplug the right drive when needed. For my Lightroom catalogs and photos I use smaller / faster SSD drives, yet these WD are a great option.

i use to buy the bulky drive now memory getting cheaper on small size i got this one . i do have another one abd so far no problems using it for 4k video footage .i can edit with it

I love this drive!
I've purchase many drives over the years for working with audio and video as well as for storage. I formatted this drive for Mac OS Sierra and put two TBs of files on it relatively quickly and without a problem. I've not tried to edit audio or video on it yet but feel confident it can handle it and intend to try soon. So far I love this drive! Huge storage, portable, fast transfer rates, wakes fast, and color coded too!

WD drives are the best
I take a lot of photographs when I'm on the road or on a photo safari. I store the digital files on multiple hard drives. WD portable drives have never failed me.

No issues
Initially it feels solid and I had no problem reformatting it to support windows and mac. Very good price for the storage space. Yet to be determined it it will stand the test of time. It is fast.

Affordable backup solution
I purchased two of these 4TB drives to use as backups for my Lightroom files. I have a 3.5 inch 4 TB external hard drive on my desktop and use these compact 2.5 inch hard drives to keep additional backups in other locations (work plus my daughter's home). They work great with Carbon Copy Cloner for making incremental backups periodically. I've tried the cloud storage option (Backblaze) but even with a high speed internet connection it takes weeks... I give my video files to clients on these just about every day. They are a great combination; quick enough and cheap enough. Note: I do not edit with these - just transfer and store.

Good service and product
Basically it is a backup of the most important things so that I have my whole office and personal stuffs at once with me everywhere (being in the cloud is not an option for me). I like very much the WD line but I am not very happy with the connector. It is fragile and you very fast a bad connection.

I using it to back up my working drive. I love it's compactness and I do not have to use external power source for it. I own numerous WD. hard drives and I never had any issues . Great product.

Good drive, poor activity light/cable placement
The drive is physically small and requires no power brick. It is faster than the USB 2.0 drive it replaced. It is working well so far. One star deducted because of the silly design of putting the activity light on the same side of the drive as the USB 3.0 connector. This makes cable management difficult if you want to be able to see the activity light. The cable should be on the back and the light on the front.

LOTS of memory in a handy, compact form
I ditched the included software and just started using it as an external drive. It connected perfectly, no hitches. And I loaded up a 630 Gbyte ZIP file backup onto it. It was relatively speedy, though it took about 6-7 hours to load that 630 Gbyte ZIP file from another external drive to it. Nonetheless, I'm very pleased with it so far.

I keep one of these available to back up my photos. Yes I have several backups of photos including on line but I like having the external hard drive for local back up.

EXCELLENT VALUE
I'm very pleased that my purchase was expedited at no charge and arrived in several days. It is working very well and has changed file transfers that used to take 5 minutes or more, now take 30 seconds. USB3 is amazing. My only regret is that B&H offers the same thing in black for $10 less. Either I didn't notice or the markdown followed my purchase. I nearly bought another one in black.

Drive is fine-software and WD tech support is lacking
The drive worked fine after I called tech support. WD Tech Support was not very helpful.The backup software is not very sophisticated. Am using the Windows 7 Back-Up Software instead.
