This is supposedly a USB3 drive, but you'd never know it. I didn't calculate the transfer rate, but it was the slowest I've seen in a long, long time.

Not an upgrade over older version
The new style case is a bit bulkier than previous versions due to the squared-off corners. Otherwise performance seems similar. Please note the supplied USB 3.0 cable is short, so you may need a longer cable depending on your desk layout.

Large capacity, small package
Works great. From one of the best hdd manufacturers. However, I liked the old design better. Not a big fan of the glossy finish.

Amazing Audio / Video Programing Toolkit
Max is the standard for creating generative audio / video and interactive installation and Ableton Live Devices, you can literally do anything with this program. The learning curve is steep but there is a large community and tons of support, tutorials to help you figure it out if you are determined enough.

Good for backups, slow for a drive.
Good, simple backup system, but transfers are slow. This is really a portable drive that has good basic backup software on it. However, I've been a little surprised about the slowness of the data transfer rate. 400 Gb took over 2 hours. Still, for a simple, no-extra-power-cords backup solution, this does fit the bill.

tiny and useful
The pliers are tiny, but of course they are because this tool is tiny. The plain and serrated blades actually work. I like the ruggedly designed bottle opener, despite the little thing's overall not-so-rugged appearance. The screwdrivers are useful, but not great. The pliers, blades and bottle opener give this tool its value.

Outstanding image quality
No, this is not a gaming monitor. VA panels offer tremendous contrast and you can get very accurate colors, but the pixels don't turn on and off as fast as other technologies. It's phenomenal for photography, and almost as good for video (extremely fast action has some choppiness), but the 3000:1 static contrast ratio is the reason to get this monitor. saved my life
Alright, so it didn't actually save my life, but it came in very handy during two power failures, one lasting seven hours. It's not an industrial size backup supply, but allowed us to keep our computers, phones and hotspot powered all day. It would be a handy thing to have in the trunk for camping or picnics.

Extremely reliable in a less-than-perfect environment
The building in which I've installed a couple of these routers has brownouts, bad grounding, voltage fluctuations and occasionally problems with broadband signal integrity. The N56U is very good about ignoring and recovering from such problems. It is also full of features and the range is acceptable in a building with pretty thick walls.

I would buy this WD hard drive again.
I'm happy to this point with this unit. Size is nice compared to the unit I replaced which was a WD. So small you can't even tell it's there. Had a few problems setting it up but they were more my fault than the unit. Price at the time was very good. Service of B&H is excellent when buying from them. Items arrive so fast I can't believe it.

Great Product
When I started looking for an external hard drive I needed one that would hold a lot of memory because I'm a part time photographer. The 4TB was just what I was looking for. Great price. The first back up took a long time but I was expecting that. After that the back ups are fast.

If you use a computer- this drive is very hard to beat !
Priced right and compatible with mac or pc -if you have anything you need backed up- why pay more or look else where? Price- check. Compatibility- check. Reliability- check (I have like 6 and all work perfectly). Not Found on El Capitan Retina 2015
Prime use for Photo / Video. This drive is randomly detected by OS X El Capitan, 2015, Retina Macbook Pro. The same issue on two MACs. Once ejected and reconnected, the OS does not find it via self powered USB hub or via MAC's direct USB ports. Was lucky to move data out. Disappointed by WD.

No wifi, better wait for a better product
Sleak design and it does what it supposed to do; however, is not wireless. 3 stars because it works fine with macbook, but i'm still wired to it. As a side note: I bought the WD wifi drive but the software and connectivity is terrible. Also bought Lacie Fuel, and that one is a total fail, avoid.

Noticeably faster than my SATA SSD
My Lenovo laptop only had a bay for one 2.5 drive and an m.2 slot. So, I doubled my capacity and went with an m.2 and a SSD. Files are a bit quicker saving to the m.2 and the extra space is nice. I have no need for a desktop now.

good hard drive but...
It works reasonably fast but only in a computer connected to the internet, something nobody tells you nor is it explained anywhere. Being online seems to be the norm, but the most knowledgeable experts tell you that one of the essential security measures is sometimes NOT being connected to the internet.

For mac and PC
Initially, I did not realize this was a hard drive designed for a windows platform, and was going to return it. The folks at B & H were very helpful in directing me to tutorials to reformat the drive for a Mac. Since then the drive has performed flawlessly, is fast and compact, everything i'd wanted.

Great external hard drive
I needed a large, external storage device to hold data for research. I purchased the My Passport portable hard drive because it got good reviews on several tech websites. I am not disappointed. It is a no-frills, easy to use device and transfer times are relatively quick. I also love all the colors!
