Rokinon 14mm f/2.8 IF ED UMC Lens For Nikon with AE Chip

Bang for the Bucks!!!
I caught this baby on sale during Black Friday and it's worth every penny. I'm very happy with how sharp my copy is and please make sure you a comfortable with shooting manually. I believe many people are attracted to the price and how wide this is, but not equipped with the practice to shoot manual. That is one reason why someone would give this lens a low rating. You have to be willing to learn if you're coming from straight autofocus (AF) ever... Show More

Takes a little getting use to, but...
The lens seems very sturdy and well-built, even heavy for its size. The lens hood is strong and the snap on lens cover that slides down over the hood fits well. I also liked the padded black cloth sack that came with it, as I often leave gear on the front seat of the truck under jackets etc, and it keeps it clean and ready to access. And because this is my habit, I also purchased the two-yr drops & spills warranty ($).The lens did take a little g... Show More

Getting better all the time
Haven't had this lens long. Based on some of the reviews I was skeptical. But after getting the hang of manual focusing and the best uses for the lens I really like it. Can't wait to get more shots under my belt.

TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE !!!
This is an incredible totally manual lens. Too much high quality for the money. I use it for astrophotograpy, and interior design on a Canon 6D with impressive sharpness and resolution images, even at the edges. Crop cameras will benefict on that. Better image quality than the Canon EF 16-35 L f 2.8 II . I feel really confortable with manual lenses, my first lens was manual... It is a matter of feeling and heart lovin.

Great lens
This may be my new favorite lens. For the price it's a very sharp lens. Everything is manual including apature, no auto focus which I find helps anyway with clarity. I haven't used it at night yet. The only drawback I can see so far is where it's an ultra wide lens is it tends to fold in the edges of the frame. I forgot the name for that. And I can find a profile for it in Lightroom 5.

So far so good
Only have had it for about a week so I am probably not the best person to review this but B&H is asking me to review it now. Overall I like the feel of it. Construction seems sturdy. Not a fan of the lens cap and there's no red dot to line up when attaching the lens. The image quality seems good. It'll be a learning curve to get the manual focus down but that was expected.

Worth it
If you like wide angles, this is a great lens. For an ASP-C, angle is right at 90 degrees. Great for nighttime shooting. Sturdy lens. Keep in mind this is fully manual, so don't be surprised by that, lean into it. It is easier to get the sharpest focus when you use the screen on your camera rather than the viewfinder.

Excellent Street Photography
I use this lens on my instagram that is mainly street photography based. And this lens is perfect for capturing a lot into the frame at such a wide angle. The focus is fairly simple after you use it a couple times. Because of the wide focal length, everything gets thrown into focus after around 3ft distance from the camera. The only tricky things are focusing for macro or portraits, in my opinion. Those require using the live view lcd screen for ... Show More

Shoot Wide
I like to shoot mostly landscapes. Usually I shoot with my 24-70L but I just wanted to try something a little extra. This Rokinon lens was a great fit for my budget and I had read some good reviews on here. Have to and Happy to say I am not disappointed. I mostly shoot in AP and AF so this was a little different and honestly I think it has helped me focus more on making an image - be sure and understand that this is just a manual focus lens (as w... excellent wide angle lens
I very much enjoy this lens. It is very wide and not for everyone, but I have found a lot of different oppotunities where it works. It does have a bit of complex distortion, but LR will easily correct most of it. It is unbeatable at this price. A word of advice, mind your toes or you will see them in the frame.

Great lens. Great.
If you like being part of your photography and think being in control of how you do it is what makes our hobby great, this is totally for you. Think of it as the highest quality big name lens without power windows, locks or cruise control. Seriously, depth of field is phenomenal, color rendition is perfect and it should sell for much more. It has little distortion and makes my other(more expensive) lenses look very bad when shooting at night. If ... Show More

Love this lens!
I ordered this lens on the advice of a local photographer and I absolutely love it! It is perfect for dark sky photography and also as an overall wide angle lens! Not sure if it will ever come off my camera.

Great lens!
I use this lens for general photography, Astrophotography and video work. I've had it for a little over a month now and it has been great so far! I use it with a full frame Canon 5D and it is amazing how much you can fit in a shot. I've noticed the focus can be a little soft sometimes but not to bad. It's a great lens to have around, especially for the price. I would definitely recommend this lens.

2015: Cheap Yet AMAZING LENS!
Wow, with all the new tech thats available, im so ecstatic to say that the rokinon lens i got was a great buy. The lens is tact sharp at all apertures, and obliviously gets sharper when stopped all the way up. I used this lens as a walk around lens for Halloween and boy i caught all the action with it. Im Glad i dove in and bought it! 5 stars!

Very nice lens
I have pretty much all the Canon L lens. This is my first non Canon lens. I ordered the Canon 11-24mm then changed my mind and wanted to give this lens a try. I'm glad I did. My copy is really sharp. Very happy with the lens.

Great Lens
I picked up this lens for night photos as well as for some landscape shots. So far it looks like I got a good copy that didn't have some of the common decentering issues or incorrectly adjusted infinity stop. I have really only had a chance to use it a few times now for some shots of the milky way and stars. So far, I'm really happy with the results and it's a great value for a very good price. The only cons that I see is the fact that the lens hood is permanent and you cannot use filters.

Fun, but difficult to focus
I first considered this lens due to a friend's recommendation. I read a lot of reviews and when it went on sale I decided to bite the bullet and buy it.Cons:1) Difficult to focus - if you are on a tripod and switch to live view and zoom in then you can focus pretty well, but it is pretty difficult to focus when using the viewfinder. This is because everything looks so small you can never be sure. I read about this, and am fairly certain that it i... Show More

You don't have to spend a fortune to get a great product
I use this lens for landscape and night photography mostly. What I wanted was a fast lens, as little distortion as possible and of course, as sharp as possible. In this price range this lens excels in all respects. It is a manual lens (No auto focus, No stabilization) so it is a bit more work but I don't see this as a con as I don't use these features for night photography. For landscape it takes a little more work but after I used it for a while... Show More

Changed my view on lenses!
I pretty much have this lens attached to my 5D Mark ii 90% of the time. I use it for street shooting, landscapes, general walk arounds and Light painting. I love the ability to control the f stop directly on the lens. I tend to keep my pictures to -1 on the view finder meter, I tend to find it's better to shoot lower and boost what I need in lightroom. This lens makes my camera feel much light as opposed to my 24-105 and even when I used the 24-7... Show More

Great budget lens.
I use this lens as a general purpose wide angle lens with an emphasis on landscape and night sky photography. The lens works well on my Canon 70D and has proved to be a sharp lens. Being an old film and manual camera guy I actually kind of enjoy going full manual when I have this lens mounted to teh camera. The only thing I miss on this lens is the ability to add a polarizing filter but I knew that before I bought it so I don't really consider it a negative.

Crystal Sharp Images!
I bought this lens mainly for astrophotography. But put it through a series of shoots in different conditions to review the quality and sharpness of the lens. I was blown away! Lets start with the bad first... 1. The focus barrel/ ring on the lens has an incredibly long tort to get from minimum focusing lengths to an infinity focus. And being a manual focus only lens, it makes it hard to adjust focus if you are on the fly. It is near impossible i... Show More

Great wide angle lens for video and photography.
I tested this lens for video on both my T2i rebel and my Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera. The native sharpness to the lens is something I really liked in my footage on both cameras (it's much more noticeable on the BMPCC). As for photography, using my T2i, I loved the end result. This is a perfect lens for Astrophotography.
