Over the years I've used several brands of external hard drives for mostly photo back up. The WD has always been more reliable. as a matter of fact I've never had a WD hard drive fail. I just bought this 3tb to replace another brand that failed after a year which I paid a lot more for. I keep a bank of three on hand and switch them out and all of that paranoid stuff. Works Great
I use it as a backup for my iMac. It works fine and the price is right. You don't need to buy the mac specific version, just reformat the PC version for the mac.

Fast and reliable
Bought this product to back up my main PC hard drive and to archive videos. Just plug it in create your folders and start backing up. Easy to set up use and very fast. Impressed with the speed and so far it's very reliable. I have had no problems using this product.

Good value, great product.
I am an amatuer photographer. I use this to store all of my pictures on. It is fast and makes storing photos easy. I have a second drive that I use to back up the first drive. I feel protected about my photos.

It works
What can I say? It works, if it came DOA I would be angry. If it made spaghetti I would be amazed, but angered as well. Only 4 stars because quantum theory states that anything is possible so it might kill me in my sleep.

Terrific Hard Drive for Backups
This external hard drive isn't super fast, small, or portable, but for backup purposes it is perfect. It is connected via USB 3 to my Mac Pro. I've had good luck in the past with WD Elements drives.

WD never disappoints
Does exactly what it is supposed to. Quick and quiet backups and external storage. Mine is on a MAC. From past experience WD support is first rate and dependable. After too many issues with another brand I will always choose WD first.

3TB Elements by WD - Great product
I have used external hard drives for over 15 years. This hard drive does not run hot like the others do. It also has an on/off switch but it does automatically turn on when you power up your PC if the USB cable is connected. It is very fast and quiet. I highly recommend this product to anyone looking extra storage or for backing up your own files locally.

3TB WD, Plex and Xbox One is a winner
Fast using Usb 3.0 compare to a hard drive. I use it for my movies and tv shows in combination with Plex and Xbox One. If you want lots of starage no better than this. Thing that aren't so great about it NONE

Best HD!
I've been buying hd for a very long time. WD have always been the most reliable. I've never had a problem with WD. This particular HD is wonderful as the other WD hd's that I have. You can't go wrong with Western Digital. Best prices are @ BH photo for sure!

So far so good.
The HD works perfectly in a mac, you just need to format the first time you connect it. I really do not understand why there is a mac version of this same hard drive (which is more expensive) when you can get this one!

Speedy and Dependable
I use this hard drive to make a cloned backup of my iMac's internal hard drive. By cloned I mean I can now use this hard drive to start my computer instead of the built in drive - it is bootable. I've tested it and it works great! I also use it to back up all the apps and other files I have stored on the internal drive. Excellent value and tons of storage!!
I ran out of space on my 1 TB computer drive and needed external storage.... fast! I searched for a balance of reliability and cost. From my research, WD has a much lower failure rate than Seagate and the price wasn't much higher. This 3TB drive was a nice balance of $$/TB, so I went for it. Good for storing and streaming media
I am using this HD to store media, mostly TV shows and movies, and to stream it to various devices via Plex. With the USB 3.0 connection, there are no hiccups though it can take a few moments to wake up.The only downfall to this thing is the wart of a power plug and the general size of the thing.

WD external hard disks best value for $
I am using this as a backup for digital photos and lightroom catalogs. So far, so good. USB 3.0 interface is much much faster than USB 2.0. It is large on your desk, but I am happy to have the sturdy outside case for protection.

Would buy again if needed
Best price per terabyte with Western Digital's reliability. It's used to backup multimedia. I have it formatted to Mac OS and can only use the usb 2.0 connection on a 2008 macbook. My only complaint is how, unlike the MyBook line (I own 2), this hard drive does not connect through my ac-powered usb 3.0 hub. It is possible that there's something wrong on my end, but I followed all the troubleshooting protocols to no avail. Even so, it's a small inconvenience for the price. I would recommend this to anyone who needs needs quality digital storage on a budget.

Easy set up.
Cheapest of the present WD 3TB offerings. If you're using a mac, it takes about a minute to reformat it using disk utility, and you've saved $+ off the factory pre-formated versions.

Inexpensive data storage option
Cheaper than WD My Book, this WD Elements has less bloatware, too. Good option for data storage. Main drawback is it needs its own power supply and is not as easily transportable as WD My Passport, for instance.
