Nice drive
This is my 5th Western Digital drive. Never had a problem with any of them. Lots of storage. I don't use the installed software as I use my own. Just format the drive in Windows and it is ready to go.

Eternal Hard Drive works as described
The Elements External Hard Drive is used solely for storing photos. At 3 TB it gives me, an enthusiastic amateur, plenty of storage space for my photos. I am a MAC user and Western Digital was very helpful in getting it to be set up for a MAC computer. This is my third WD external drive and all work as described. Clearly as well, the price was right. I only wish that it did not have to be powered with a wall 110 volt outlet. But at 3TB I don't know if a personal computer can do it on its own.

Works fine
Plug and Play on Windows 7 64 bit. Use it on a DAW for storing projects not currently in progress. Only had it now for about a month. Can't speak to relibility. Real good price point frrom B&H.

Great Storage Unit
Mega room for storing my backups. Small unit, about the size of a book. I just plugged this puppy in and it was ready to go. No formatting needed. Comes NTFS formatted. I'm using on a USB 2.0 port and it has worked flawlessly. B&H got it here in no time.

Awesome storage for all that data and programs that you infrequently use but can't live without. Great place to put all those freebies you download with the good intent of checking out but don't have the time to do it immediately. I love this thing!

It's good!
Arrives quickly packed very well in super bubble wrap so as to insure a safe journey, and as for owning it he past month, it hasn't showed any sign of fault. It's still too early to tell for sure, but Western digital is a good company with solid products, so I'm not too worried. Overall, best deal on an portable hard drive by far.

So far so good
I only use periodically to back up files. When I first turned it on, I ran it off and on for 2 days to load about 1.5TB onto it and it never got too hot, no noises, worked fine.

Not much to say if it works, and it does
Just what I needed for an additional storage device for all my computers. It even works with my Chromebook. It gives and takes all my video files, so I am a happy camper. Enough said.

Spacious Hard Disk
I use two of these drives to keep multiple copies of most of my files. You might call it manual mirroring. I want my photos, videos, and finances to survive a hard disk crash. These drives are connected via a USB 2.0 hub in my den closet. I have had no problems with them. The form factor makes them easy to stand up and not worry much about blocking cooling vents. The way I have them connected (USB 2.0), it took a long time to copy the other disk over. But my incremental changes are adequately fast.

Works perfectly
I opened the box, took out the drive, plugged it into the back of my CPU, in one of the 3.0 slots, turned it on, and it was running by the time I managed to squirm out from under my desk. Works great. Copies files fast. Quiet. No problems.

Reliable and fast
ran out of space on my 1TB Elements, so picked up this one.it saves data efficiently, but has slightly less than 3TB space advertised (effective space is 2.7TB)price was right so it still was good value on sale.

Good quality to price ratio
I's a bit larger than some options, but it's totally managable considering it's 3 TB capacity. I use it to back up both a Mac and a PC, mainly for photographs and files created in Photoshop, Illustrator, AutoCAD and Rhino.

Stackable
I''m not a techy. Bought 2 to back-up digital originals. Seems fast enough to load images into LR. Had a 2TB before and the new ones stack nicely with it -either vertically or horizontally to save desk space. The plastic on the new models seem to be a little lower quality than the previous model. Maybe because they are shiny and my 2TB is not. Light stays on when units are plugged in. You may or may not like that feature.

3 TB External Hard Drive
B&H sent me an email to review this product. To be honest, not sure what else to say, that it's a 3 TB external hard drive that is capable to utilize both USB 2.0 and 3.0 speeds. I've bought this for a digital media player to store all my dvd's and cd's. Not sure how durable it would be for portable use though. Both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 12.4 works fine with it.

Big and quiet and reliable
This is the 5th 3TB elements drive I've purchased and all of them continue to run, including the first one, purchased years ago. Seagate drives of the same size have come, died, and were buried, but the Western Digitals have never given me a bit of trouble. I can't wait for the 4TB spindle prices to come down more.

Good Storage/backup option
I bought this for photo and video storage and so far so good. Easy to connect to my MAC and interacts well with my Adobe and Apple software.

External Hard Disc
Reasonably priced Hard Drive that is easy to install. However, as a Mac user I had to go online to format and then reformat to increase the 4g file size limitation. If you have large video files this is a must. Directions should be clearer in this regard.
