Nice Macro Lens!
It is nice macro lens, takes very sharp photos, however it lacks to auto-focus on close shot. Here are the sample pictures taken with Canon 6D Mark II, Sigma 105 mm Macro Lens:

OS is loud (could be faulty)
Have taken a couple test images and they look good, but there's a lot of clunky sounding stuff going on inside the lens when I activate the OS, moreso on setting 1 than setting 2. Sending back to Sigma for diagnostic. If that is the way the lens is built I will be returning or exchanging

Excellent lens!!
I am interested in getting into macro photography so when I saw this lens was on sale for a great price, I jumped on it. I haven't had a chance to photograph any insects or spiders yet (my main reason for wanting this lens) but I have used it around the house to photography coins, jewelry and flowers and WOW! Such crisp and clear photos...the details are AMAZING! It's heavier than I was expecting but I'm getting used to it. It's a little too heavy for my cheap tripod and there is a noticeable downward creep when mounted on the flimsy ball head. I can't wait to try it outdoors!

So far so good!
Have had the lens about a month and never had a macro lens before so not sure what I was expecting but... shots are super sharp!!!!!!! Like really super sharp!

It arrived, amazingly.
The box arrived crushed and stained, and at the wrong address. Inside, several of the protective air bags were ruptured. I have photos if anyone is interested. Amazingly, despite the poor packaging and shipping, the camera lens seems to have arrived in good shape. Used it today for the first time and it's an incredible piece of visual technology. I look forward to the next photo shoot.

Not a Art lens
I have every art lens so this one feels cheap next to my art primes, also do not like how you cannot get 2.8 most of the time.

Don't Let the F/2.8 Fool You.
I bought this lens to use as both a macro lens and a mid-range telephoto for wedding photography. I have had nothing but good experiences with Sigma's line of Art lenses, so I expected good things from another Sigma prime, especially one priced the same as an art lens. Magical Macro!!
Love this lens from Sigma! Sigma is doing some fine work in the world of Lens making! The colors are amazing coming from this 105mm Macro lens, it is spot on! It also has wonderful Silent... AF!!! The focal length is also nice for Portraits which renders rich and creamy Bokeh!! B&H is offering this Macro lens from Sigma at a astounding $400.00 off, can't beat it!! Great Lens!
Just started using this lens and Im impressed! It is VERY sharp and the image stabilizer works well. Patience and steadiness are needed as with any macro with any weight to it if hand holding. Ill be using a tripod for stability most of the time due to the extremely shallow depth of focus with macro. Beautiful creamy out of focus backgrounds and bokeh. Love it!

Good value
I am a dentist, and the purpose of this lens is to use it in macro shoots inside the mouth and some portrait. Works better in manual when doing close up and for portrait is great with AF mode. The image estabilizer is useful to prevent blurred images as well.

Nice Piece of Glass
The Sigma lenses are becoming my favorite. That is a hard statement consider I am team Nikon everything. I had a Nikon macro and it worked okay, but the motor broke and I returned it. This gem was on sale ($400 off!) so I gave it a go. I am so glad I did! The clarity and Bokeh is amazing. It focuses super fast and leaves me with a crisp, vibrant image. Great macro lens
I use this lens mostly for macro photography but have used it a time or two for portrait work. The lens needs a lot of light or a high ISO.

Good lens Great Value
Sigma has great products at good prices. Look for price reductions. Why pay more for just a name, when thats the main differentating factor. If a lens is light in weight ask your self why. Sometimes you should buy brand X and some times not, you decide not the marketing department.

SoFar So Good!
did lots of reresearch before buying this lens; Rented both this lens and the Nikon 105mm........both are very close, chose the Sigma and saved $500! So far so good! Great price for a very nice piece of glass!

Excellent image quality - loud OS
Great image quality - auto focus is not the fastest. OS is loud enough to disturb in a quite environment.

Excellent Lens

Awesome macro lens!
I recently upgraded my macro lens from the Nikon 60mm 2.8 to this sigma 105mm 2.8. I absolutely love it! Yes the OS does make a weird sound but I dont use it when shooting macro bc I use all manual focus and settings. The image quality is excellent and the lens is overall a terrific lens for macro. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a macro lens.

Error 70 on Canon 6D II w/ Live View
The "***" rating for using lens on 6D II with Live View; keeps getting "Error 70" ("An image related malfunction has been detected"). Have to turn camera OFF, R&R battery, and turn camera back ON to make camera usable again. Error does not occur using lens with 70D in Live View; hence appears to be an issue with the 6D II.
