Have been using for portraits and macro work and results are stunning. A little noisy but has faster autofocus and sharper images than Tamron 90mm. Great deal on B&H with Cyber Monday Sale

great lens, good price, it's a must
I use this lens for Macro and portrait, on a D750. very sharp and great colors, OS works great (approximately 3 stops). The combination of a macro lens and the 105 stabilized lens, makes it a very versatile and powerful tool. In hard lighting conditions the focus can hunt a bit, not a big deal. results are magnificent. It comes with 2 caps (one for FF and the other for DX), very nice case, and cost 300$ less then the Nikon version. It appears to me as a great deal.

Worth it
A wonderful lens, although very pricy, worth every penny. I use for jewelry product photography and do not even need to edit pictures before uploading to Etsy.

great macro lens, sharp and versatile.
Use it for Macro and portraits, great lens. very sharp (F4 - 11) a little soft at 2.8 in the corners , good colors and very nice bokeh. the lens is almost silent, and the OS works down to 3 stops. I love the resoles, and have fun working with it. very good price performance as you get the same features as the Nikon for 300$ less.

Good photos hard to get focus
I love the photos from this lens but it tends to hunt for focus when in tight (at distance it's quick so good portrait but struggles with macro) and if you're shooting macro free hand tends to be a problem but the bokeh is smooth and round and the details can really be made to pop with it.

Review 105 mm Macro Sigma Lens
Hi, I used this product for Food Photography and it's pretty good tool for this type of jobs. This type of lens will help you to get that shot that you need. To have the product in a good proportion and have the focal distance that you want. This Lens allows you to get in control of all this things and even get a pretty good macro shot.

Amazing lense!!
This lense is so amazing for the price. I've wanted one for a long time and it's helped complete set of lenses. It's clarity has opened up my ability to capture great moments.Love it!

Love this lens..
The Sigma 105mm 2.8 Macro works well when attached to my Nikon D7100 but seems to have problems with the AF and aperature settings when attached to my Nikon D810. Don't know if that's an indication there's a problem with my D810 or not. But I like the results I get with the APS-C sensor, so I'll keep it.

I would buy this product again this instant. Superb!
There is simply no bottom to this lens. It takes portrait shots that are near perfect and then at the flip of a switch will move in on an insect with absolute clarity. Best investment for anyone.

Looking for an all around macro
This lens is crisp and offers a nice feature of auto focus distance selectivity. The auto focus is fast and quiet which is good for working with small wild life, like butterflies and bugs.

Excellent Choice
First, I am a Photographer, but a Digital Amateur. After hours of painstaking review reading and weighing the diffrences, I chose the Sigma 105mm Macro. (I rarely shoot shy bugs, I can be closer) The Sigma part was easy, this is the fourth I have paired with my Canon 60D. I have not found the focus to be confusing. I have experienced some searching, but ultimately I was too close. (I need an old fashioned measuring string-I don't guage distance w... Show More

Fits my needs for a rock solid and accurate Macro Lens.
Like many other users have noted....it is built like a tank. It is also largish for a 105mm lens. However it does exactly what you would want it to. It takes very sharp macro pictures at 1:1. First night I spent the dying hours of sunlight taking pictures of stuff around the back yard (mostly handheld). I found the focus to be relatively fast for most subjects and the OS definitely helped when the shutter speeds got slow. Focus noise is there but... Show More

Great lens. Great Value.
This is the only non-Nikon lens I own. I tried others, but this is the one that impressed me. It's well made and does what it's supposed to do. Photos are sharp and the focus (when using autofocus) is reasonably quick. It hunts less than the equivalent Nikon I tried did, too, although in fairness, that was a used lens that wasn't up to snuff for some other reasons. I'm very pleased with my purchase of the Sigma 105 Macro lens. (used with D750)

Great lens & price!
Happily I found out that this lens is not only good for macro, but a great product photography lens & portrait lens. Probably as sharp as any lens I own. On my Nikon D750 there are no focus problems at all...no back focus or changes needed to be made.

Wow whee
Very highly rated and does not disappoint. Focus is very snappy although for macro a tripod and MF negates that as well as the VR feature. Still when hand holding both are excellent. One would have to decide what character they found most pleasing among the various brands because all are quite good. I'd say sharpness in this lens is the best and for my tastes the pictures require less post processing. I got this lens on sale and am very, very pleased. I highly recommend it.

Sharp photos.
I bought this lens for my new Nikon D500. And have taken some very nice closeup and macro photos.

Great lens
This lens is very well build, solid right out of the box. Though I primarily purchased this to do macro work, it is one of the better portrait lenses I have used. The bokeh is fantastic wide open and IQ is top notch. The 105mm length is optimal for both applications I use this for and it has now become my most used lens. Combined with BH pricing and service I could not be happier.

It is a Macro lense
After pondering over reviews took the plunge and bought this amazing macro lens. Currently using it in my D600 and definitely has the punch in it. Macro images are sharp and come out very well. It does take little bit of time to get used to the focus lock and the OS capability on this lens. The more pictures I take using this lens, the more I like it.

Nice lens
Bought this lens in a canon mount to use specifically for maco. Autofocus works great and picture clarity and sharpness is very good. When stopping down much more than F7.1, available light becomes a problem, as it would with any other F2.8 lens. Some sort of camera stabilization would be needed such as a tripod or a good lighting system. The cost of this lens, compared to a canon F2.8L macro, was also a contributing factor to buying this lens. A ... Show More

Best Macro Lens for Nikon
Having tried other macro lens from Nikon, Tokina etc the Sigma 105mm F2.8 EX DG OS is by far the best in my opinion. Razor sharp images are the norm. The OS is amazing. I have used it on a D600 and a D7100 with fantastic results.

Able to take really outstanding pictures with this lens. It does require some work to learn macro photography, but we're quite satisfied. Would purchase again.

Wonderful Portrait/Macro Lens
I have now used this lens twice for flower photography in both Portrait and Macro mode. It was everything I expected. Great image quality and easy to use. I used a Kirk focus stacking rail with this lens for focus stacking of Orchids at the Denver Botanic Garden and the results were great.

Amazing Lens
I was on the fence about this lens since it seemed like a niche product I would get little use out of. Boy was I wrong. After a week of owning this lens it has completely become my favorite. The images are crisp, focus is clear, and it works beautifully as a macro as well as a standard 105mm prime (see attached photos). I'm thrilled with it. Only complaint is auto focus can hunt a little when you're very close to your subject, but at that space I prefer manual focus anyway.
