For the price you cannot get better than the Shure drum mic packs. I already have some decent-(for my usage)-overheads, so I purchased the five mic pack. If I had a bigger budget-maybe Neumann, SennH, Telefunks, or even less pricey Audix D series. For the price though; and the drum sounds I capture when recording; nothing can beat Shure quality, sound, craftsmanship, and especially the price when researching, comparing, and purchasing to other drum mic packs. mics & cables take up considerable vertical space. had to break down & reconfigure right side cymbals. prefer to have cymbals in a tight config horizontal & vertically. not possible due to vert clearance. recommend rotate mic XLR pins @ 60 degrees & SUPPLY cables w/ 90 degree XLRs.

These mics get the job done! I've only used them once so far, but was able to get a good clear & punchy sound on a recording. There are higher end mics (ie, more expensive) that will give you a better sound for pro recordings, but if you're looking to get some tracks put down for a demo, or mic the drummer in live situations - these are the way to go!

Can't go wrong for the price. This kit will cover most drummers needs right out of the box. Matching tom mics are available with the mount and cable if you need more.
