Manfrotto 808RC4 3-Way, Pan-and-Tilt Head with 410PL Quick Release Plate

UPC's:
It works
I had a ball head, but ball heads are for more table top / macro photography and that's not what I'm into. This makes using a tripod bearable. The only reason I'm giving it four stars, is it's hard to tighten on the camera, you need a coin to make sure it's secure.

Best tripod Head I've owned
This head is super versatile and super sturdy. I can get my camera at just about every angle and not worry about the tripod leaning or falling over. I really like the handles used for adjustment and the level bubbles. This head is very quick to adjust and can hold the weight of my camera easily. The only complaint I have is that its sometimes difficult to attach the release plate to the head, but I'm sure that will get easier with practice. It locks in nice and tight though once you get it. I don't worry anymore about my camera not being safe and secure. Very trustworthy.

The Manfrotto 808RC4 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is the redesigned model in the three-way range of heads. The 808RC4 now also includes the Double Axis Spring System which consists of a built-in 3.3 lb spring...i'll be using this with my 400mm lens, and knowing there it well stay once i lock it in place,no drift!

OMG
This head is amazing. There are so many differnet degress combination you can do with the 3 way pan/tilt. It doesn't take long to figure out how to use the 3 tilts/pan.

Exactly what I needed
As an amateur photographer, I've often made do with second hand equipment. However, I needed to replace the video pan head which was on my Bogen tripod. I wanted a 3-way pan/tilt with some heft to it. This head is perfect. Handles are well placed, there is smooth movement and I especially like the double axis spring system.

Manfrotto 808RC4 Head Works Well
I am using this head on a set of Manfrotto 190XB sticks. I shoot with Nikon D70 and F100 (with battery grip) cameras as well as a Mamiya RZ67. This head might be over-kill for the D70 but it handles the RZ67 quite nicely. The handles are conveniently located and can be reached easily, even with the RZ on board, due to their length. The head is big, heavy, and solidly made. The quick release plate locks on solidly and is removed with ease. I like the double lock lever that keeps one from accidentally releasing the plate.

Pan Head
I am a professional photographer and this head is perfect for the relatively low cost. Since it is able to support heavier loads It is interchangeable between all of my cameras from my dslr to my 8x10 view camera. It's also light weight enough for perfect portability.

Precise Head
I use this head with the 055X PRO Tripod legs. It is a very reliable combination. I used it for photographing interiors, portraits , products and food so far and I was very happy with the range of motion and precision of movement. It is not a light combination and the head's handles can get in the way when packing tightly but those are just minor issues.

Great Pan/Tilt head with one issue
Bought the head in conjunction with the Manfrotto 055X Pro tripod. Really like the head a lot with its wide range of motion, the spring action of the levers. However, one issue I have is that after the base plate is reattached to the head, the clamp does not fully clamp shut. It is quite secure but I wonder if it needs more force to fully close.

Great Head
Amazing stability and fluidity on this head. This will last a lifetime. The only problem with this and I almost sent it back to get the lesser model, is the plate is different than my other manfrotto heads. Now I have to buy more plates to attach to all my cameras. The plate is also much larger than the previous ones. The plate needs a coin or key to detach. I also use this as an occasional video tripod and the spring loaded joints help keep motion smooth. Not the best video head, but it does what I need it to.

Best for pro photographer
I use this with Manfrotto Neotec Tripod, Just the best combination I've ever used. Better than any ball head in the market right now.

Rock solid
I'm using this head on my Triman tripod and it is a stellar combination. The pan is firm and the two tilts are spring buffered so the camera can't fall over. The camera plate takes a little getting used to but the camera will never fall off. When applying any of the locks the image dose not shift, important with long lenses; you get what you pay for. This combination is not bad to carry on short trips close to the car.

Great quality product
Great way to balance and level your set up for sure. It is a fantastic quality. The only drawback is that it is heavy. I notice that carrying around this tripod with this head attached with the camera to move from room to room.

Great performance
I use this head for landscape and wildlife. It is very stable and able to be tilted easily to fit any footing situation.

Heavy, but definitely worth it
I was torn between the RC2 and RC4 and went with the RC4 since it would support more weight and had the bubble levels. Seeing how heavy it is I would probably go with the RC2 now but this is an incredibly steady head that should last forever and perform at a high level. Not for taking a hike with but the 3-way is incredibly stable and precise.

Great Panhead.
Excellent tilt/pan head to use along with the Manfrotto 055XB tripod to hold a Nikon D7000.

Works well for medium format setup
I use this pan/tilt head in a studio where the camera is in a fixed position, but needs small precise adjustments. Large weight capacity works well for my medium format macro setup. Controls are great for making precise adjustments to camera position. It is kind of a beast, but for my application weight is not an issue.

808RC4 3 Way Pan/Tilt Head
Use it with my Manfrotto 055xProB Tripod. Provides bubble levels for all orientations, and dials with angle information. can support roughly any dslr/ lens combination, personally dont know about medium format, but it provides great stability and control, and is very easy to use, Head doesn't fit well in tripod bag, but that cant take points off this product Very high quality build

Sturdy - Smooth Head
It takes a little time to get familiar with this head but it is very stable. I have no worries about my camera getting dinged. I use this with a Manfrotto 055XB tripod and although the two are a bit heavy, they're stable and easy to use. The clear shots I get say it best. Reliable, safe head.
