WD 3TB My Book Desktop USB 3.0 External Hard Drive
Works as advertised but no drive activity LED
I formatted with ext4 to use with Linux and mirrored my 4 TB drive. Everything works as expected. I knocked off one star because there is no LED to indicate drive activity. Come on-how cheap can you get? I suppose this a new trend that we will have shoved on us.

Great, reliable and would highly recommend

Great product from a great store
Plugged the hard drive into my PS4 when I filled the internal drive. Plenty of space and great transfer speeds means I should be covered until the next generation of consoles comes out. B&H was a pleasure to do business with- I will definitely be back.

DOA ....
WD generally makes pretty reliable HDs. This newer My Book looks ok (except for no activity/power light) but it never made it past USB recognition. I tried it on 2 PCs and one Mac including switching out cables. Kudos to B&H for easy and prompt return.

Recommend for large external storage needs.
I bought two of these. One for general backup for my iMac and other file storage. The other for backup storage for images. It was easy to set up, even on the Mac, and functions as described. I transferred many files and transfer was smooth and fast.

Garbage
Doesn't work well with my brand new Mac. After 14 hours, it's only 7% done. Contacted WD. They sent a replacement. My computer can't even recognize the replacement. I ran diagnostics. Nothing is wrong with my computer. These are poorly made.

Great product @ a great Price
I needed a bigger backup and reserve store and since I trust WD I was waiting for the opportunity to buy it. Works flawlessly, fast , a tiny rumble on my desk but it's understandable and it's not even warm Great product ... Great price

Died after 1 day
Western Digital is the worst. This drive took forever to mount initially, and to format. Then would not mount at all. Spend many hours trying to revive, but after speaking to WD support they said it was dead and to return. Cheap junk.

Probably and overkill for me but couldn't pass up the great price! Out of the box I was backing up my system in less than 5 minutes. Moved it to my VR system and backed that one up as well. Very user friendly and well worth the price.

It technically works
It works technically fine but this drive hums and buzzes and is just generally very loud. I have several generations of these drives on my desk, including some 4TB and 2TB models but this one is the only one I have noise issues with.

Excellent backup - but no green light.
I have used WD USB drives for years. This 6TB drive works just like all the others. My only disappointment was that this drive has no green LED to show when data is being transferred. All my other 3TB and 4TB drives have this light ?

It works great
Works right out of the box. I connected it to a TABLO DVR with no difficulty, Records, plays, and/or delete TV recordings. It also runs surprisingly cool (as compared to my previous experience of comparable devises in years past.

Best Hard Drives
I have been using WD hard drives for many years and never had a problem with the drive. I have used other brands also, but with some failures. Good produce well worth the cost. B&H always has just what I need and a good price.

I would buy this product again, and I would recommend it.
Reasonably fast with storage and retrieval of files! Very quiet! I use it for large photo files from several different cameras. An external storage of this nature is a requirement for the handling of digital photograph files!

lost my mony
I was very excited to get this as my computer had just crashed. I needed to make it a internal drive so I removed it from the case installed it and it would not work - now I cant get my money back and I received a bad drive.

WD is the only drives I buy.
I have drives from WD that still run perfectly after 5+ years so trying out the 8TB was a no brainer. I have only had it for about a month and it runs great. I use it as a second backup and for that price you can't go wrong.

I will buy again.
I have 20 WD external drives, including about 12 Desktop. Most are full and are archiving/storing information. It was easy to print the contents of each in order to recall information. So far, so good regarding reliability.

economic, but not the best
I bought it for its great capacity and low cost, I always use LACIE and I must say that the quality of construction is superior with respect to WD, I rely more on Seagate discs of Lacie in exchange for wd, time will tell

Awful. Didn't work.
Drive hummed and didn't delete data when tried to redo after data transfer didn't work. B&H return customer service very unhelpful. Do not buy product and don't buy from this store if you think might need to return.

An affordable storage option
We archive show files that are just a bit under 1Tb each. Had issues with the WD 8Tb but the 4Tb seems to be reliable for our archive/storage needs with zero malfunctions in 30 + drives purchased during the year.

excellent product
I have long been a fan of WD drives. This one is no exception. Installation and use were without a hitch. I have 3 of these drives that I use for backup. This one will be for archiving of digitized video tapes.

It doesnt work
Ill have to try it again. I installed it and it worked for 1 week then my PC froze. I had to remove the USB3 from my PC and my pc is back in service, but the unit does not work I will be in touch with you soon

Great for backups
Had my eye on the 8TB version and the 10TB went on sale, so I snapped it up. Am using it to back up my NAS. Takes awhile since its only USB 3.0, but it seems to get the job done. Easy to set up and use, too.
