Excellent
I bought this head to use with my Nikon D750 and Sigma 150-600mm, since this les is so heavy my Ball Head wouldn't hold it. The Oben TWO LEVER HANDLES / 3 LOCK works perfect.

Works Very Well
I spent a lot of time reviewing different tripods. Could not find much selection locally. This tripod had most of what I wanted. Have used only a few times so far but like it very much. I am very tall and I really like the height on this tripod. It's comfortable to use.

As described ..
So far item as described, works great and fulfills the goal. just have not had that much of an opportunity to use it.

not heave duty
Bought is as a kit with Oben tripod, the value for the price is good but do not expect it to last for more than 2 years. The ball head was jammed after one year of moderate use and the tripod column was cracked after few years of moderate use.

Works fine for a while, but
I've had this ball head for four years now, not impressed with the longevity of the product. The first two years the ball head worked ok, then it started to bind up and hard to adjust. The tensioner works towards the tight side and won't release the ball for movement. Now I have to set/readjust the tensioner every 4-5 months to be able to move the camera and lens into position. Just doesn't seem right that it goes out of adjustment that fast and totally lock up. I'm currently looking to replace this head.

Best bang for the buck again
I read reviews on this that had me concerned, head coming loose from pod. Unable to lock Head in position. I say you need to build up some hand and brain strength. Installing the head is quick and easy. Lock the pan knob and tighten it down. Then loosen the pan knob and everything is fine. I have no issues with a 13 pound RIFLE mounted holding positions. And Im going to bet my optics are better than most cameras so I can see if the head drifts. Sorry I like this head a lot and have no complaints.

Handy!
I saw an item like this in the past but its has since disappeared. Im glad Oben offers this one now. It has a nice solid construction and comes in super handy. I just leave mine in my glove box. I can see a lot of people using this for different purposes. No tripod no problem, just quickly mount it. Its compact, solid and at a good price. The only thing I would recommend is to definitely get ballhead to go with it. [I received this product in exchange for my honest review.]

A good all-around tripod head at a reasonable price
The past few years Ihave really been trying to step up my camera gear game. I have been thinking outside the box and trying things that arent in my wheelhouse. One of these accessories is the PD-117 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head from Oben. Its designed to allow for independent camera adjustment on the horizontal and vertical planes as well as 360 panning. The PD-117 3-Way Pan/Tilt Head is equipped with a quick-release system (RP-20 plate) and safety lock.... Show More

Ball Head
The single lever ball head I purchased exeeded my expectations. It is easy to adjust and tighten. The leveling bubbles are an additional feature and so is the quick release. I highly recommend this ball head.

Good ballhead, bad QR plate
The ball head itself is pretty solid, its what I was hoping it would be given its size and price. The action is fairly smooth, the lever works well. My gripe is that the quick release plate is very small, and the piece underneath it that you twist with your fingers is also quite small. The result is that its hard to get it on quickly and securely in the field. If using a standard pro DSLR body and lens in the vertical orientation, the camera will... Show More

Windproof Ballhead
Tested it in high wind conditions while backpacking on an Alaskan glacier. No issues. Easy to handle with gloves on. Sturdy. Got super sharp pics. As usual, supersonic shipment from BandH.

Ballhead has too much friction
I bought the Oben tripod with ball head to have a sturdy tripod for landscape and macro photography. The tripod itself is very sturdy. However the knob on the ball head is very difficult to turn. After adjusting it several times, my palm was sore. I returned the whole system.

The best
This head is well constructed. It is heavy, Id say heavier than the actual tripod (Oben CTT-1000).

I think it week be fine. Great build quality, I only wish I got the one bigger size. This will work though. My biggest lens is a 70-200.

Camera loosens on mounting plate
Great build quality but Ive been so frustrated how my camera comes loose on the mounting plate. Especially when trying to go for vertical shots the camera mount self loosens and rotates, threatening to fall off.

Neat little head
Doing a little research before picking up a Platypod, I saw Scott Kelby using one of these on an Ultra... I now have the same setup. It works great, is lightweight, and fits into my admittedly overstuffed ProTactic 450. The largest lens that Ill put on it will be one of my 70-200 2.8s...but theyll generally be close to the ground or other flat-ish surface, with me next to it, but I dont expect it to topple anyway. Theres no friction knob, but ... Show More

Overall impressive, though instructions could use work
I bought this tripod with a different head attachment on it probably 6ish years ago, and its been performing flawlessly. Was a no-brainer to buy the same unit when I needed one. Overall very solid, the dual mode feet are a nice touch. Despite being fairly light it doesnt feel unsubstantial. Whats holding me back from the fifth star is are the instructions. Oben needs to update their illustration and instructions in discussing installation of t... Show More

A Practical Low End Tripod
I have been a photographer since 1948, becoming much more serious on and after a long trek towards Mount Everest in 1969. I have used several tripods over the years but having attained the age of 90 I want one that is light weight and simple. I discussed my thoughts with a B&H salesperson on the phone and ultimately he suggested the Oben. I took his suggestion and bought it. I was surprised to find that the legs have four rather than three secti... Show More

Seems to work great with my XT-3. Havent used much, which is the reason for 4 stars. If it works this great a yr from now Id give it 5 stars. B&H usually wants a review before you get it out of the box though

Failed in Cold conditions
Overall I like the ball head for normal to hot temperatures, but the ball head failed on my during a recent shoot where i experienced morning temperatures of 2-10 degrees F. The panning knob and the locking knob both failed to lock down when tightened as far as i could twist the knobs. This resulted in camera flops and creeping. It also became one more thing for me to have to contend with (gloveless hands to crank down the knobs, uneven footing i... Show More
