Great AF in low light & high ISO, Sharp!

Oct 20, 2014

I had d7100 for 1.5 yrs and was looking to upgrade to FX. D610 was not attractive due to its 39-AF points (D7100 has 51) and I find D810 unnecessary being an enthusiast, even if I can buy it. I waited for D750s launch and initial reviews and everything from Tech reviews to customer reviews was 4.5 stars & above. Finally got it early Oct after selling off D7100. I got from B&H.Here are my observations, opinions about D750 after using it for 2 week... Show More

An Instant Classic

Sep 2, 2015

I will admit, having owned and used extensively six DSLR cameras over the past ten years, this is my first full frame camera. I thought when I jumped to Canon's 18 megapixel crop sensor a few years ago that I had more resolution than I'd ever need. I was pleased at the level of detail the jump from 10 to 18 megapixels revealed. However, I was astonished when I looked at the first images out of this Nikon D750. I am using the Nikon 50mm f/1.8D len... Show More

Exceeds my (high) expectations

Apr 28, 2015

After shooting figure skating (a lovely sport characterized by fast linear and rotational movement, low light settings, and massive contrast) on a Nikon D90 for years, I finally convinced myself to update my camera body and the D750 has been an amazing choice. This camera is far better than its specs alone convey. Most Positive: (1) The autofocus system is ridiculously good. It just doesn't stumble and locks in lighting conditions that were signi... Great follow up to D700 legacy

Oct 10, 2014

Purchased D700 from @ when D800 was out and it turned out to be a happy decision. D700 was dependable and offered solid pictures and performance. File size was very manageable. I really enjoyed the color neutrality, AF, ISO performance D700 offered. Only regret was that should've purchased earlier. Normally I am not a early adopter except for this time. After reading some great reviews (i.e. from Ross Harvey), I took the dive and ordered the D750... Show More

I MADE A GOOD DECISION

Feb 21, 2019

After owning and using a Nikon D7000 (crop sensor) camera for almost 8 years, I decided it was time to move up to a full-frame camera. Over the years, I have developed a penchant for photographing things that are a bit unusual and on the creative side. So quality really has become very important to me. What initially prompted me to move to a better quality camera was seeing the difference in the quality of images when I compared the D7000 to some... Show More

Best all-around camera currently for the money!

Dec 8, 2015

I've had this kit for about 6 months now and feel that I can write an accurate review about it. I mainly shoot automotive photography in natural light, so I need a good mixture of autofocus performance, camera responsiveness, and image quality (low light and dynamic range), and I feel the D750 brings all of this and more. First things first, there's the sensor. The 24MP is fine with me, it's less storage and I'm not blowing up huge prints. The se... Show More

Replaces my beloved D700

Nov 15, 2014

I am a former professional photojournalist who now shoots art photography, selling my work in galleries. I'm also a long-time D700 user, and have been patiently waiting for years for Nikon to come out with a replacement. Like many D700 fans, I've found that the D800-series and D600-series fall short. They are terrific cameras, but don't quite have the right types of pro-features (D3, D4) in a lighter-smaller body that the D700 had when it came ou... Show More

Does what you expect of it - and more

Mar 14, 2016

As a fine art photography professional, the D750 fits the bill. Once you get it set up (let's be honest, there are a TON of options and it takes weeks - if not longer - of testing them all out to see if they are options that can benefit your personal style and desired outcomes), this camera is as fast and accurate as it gets. Don't mind that it has fewer MP than the 800-series. With the same size sensor and fewer MP, it means that the pixels are ... Show More

Great camera!

Dec 6, 2014

I've owned the D750 for about two weeks now and have taken about 500-600 (mostly test) photos with it. I want to give it a 4.5 but I can't so I'll round up to the 5. I think its a great camera package for the price but there are a couple of that could be much better which I'll explain in this review. Just a little background on myself: this is the first full frame camera that I've owned; stepping up from a D7000 that has been used since mid 2011 ... Show More

The D750 is a great upgrade from DX

Jun 17, 2018

I upgraded from my 5 year old Nikon D7100 to the D750 and having taken numerous pictures with the D750 I can say that I am very happy with the upgrade! I shot so long with the D7100 that I had gotten to the point where its weaknesses were apparent to me. The improvements in the D750 over the D7100 are: 1. Better low light autofocus capability. 2. More consistent autofocus lock on. 3. Greater ISO performance. (At nearly ALL ISO levels!)... Show More

Nikon's D750: What a surprise!

Oct 23, 2014

Any review of Nikon's new FX-format camera, the D750, must acknowledge that this camera's debut was not without some measure of controversy. After all, many Nikon DX users who have expected a long-overdue update to the D300s were once again left without a top-of-the DX-line successor, and those who hoped that the D750 would be a direct upgrade to the D700 were also disappointed. The Nikon D750 is an oddity in a way; it resembles a DX-format D7100 ... The body: The D750 is an amazing camera. I came from a Nikon D90, although I had tried a D7000 and D7100 and not found enough difference to justify the upgrade for my use. The D750 is something else. It does everything pretty well, but here are some highlights for me: 1.) AF performance. It's amazing. Face detect works great. I mean, excellent. I'm a professional photographer and made this camera my main shooter (for now)But I will begin this review with the weak points I have found for Pros:- The lack of 1/8000 shutter speed is real and it is here, if you use fast lenses like the 14-24 f/2.8 (that don't take any filters) wide open on sunlight (like me) or if you try to grasp things moving in the air freezing the time with the fastest shutter speed (like me), you have to lower your stan... I have used Nikon cameras for over twenty years but i'll confine my comments and comparisons to their FX Dslrs that I own or have owned (d700, d800, d610). I shoot weddings and events and most of what I have to say is while using it in that kind of situation. This camera feels good in the hand. It has a thin deep hand grip. The grip lacks the solidness and size of the 700 and 800 but after using it for hours I don't consider that a problem. Out o... Show More

Traded in my Canon 6D and No Regrets

Nov 22, 2014

I had recently purchased the Canon 6D and loved it for the last 6 months. I shoot portraits, candids, and events; but the key was that I needed to balance great stills with good video and I felt like the 6D did both well. So it took a lot for me to rationalize the jump (especially to my wife given my recent purchase) as to why I thought the D750 was worth the all in trade. And it definitely like somewhat of a risk knowing what I had going in, but... Show More

I upgrade my camera every 10 years or so, which means my point of reference is my 10mp DX-40. I just went on a 15-day trip to Italy (Florence, Tuscany and Rome mainly) and decided it was time. Not a casual decision; with the 24-120 and a Tamron long lens I walked out of B&H more than $2500 poorer. Was it worth it? Absolutely, positively no question. I decided it was time to upgrade my aging D70. My wish was to upgrade to the world of full frame DSLR, which narrowed the field down to D610, D750, and D810. The D810 was simply out of my price range. Between the D610 and D750 the D750 wins at everything (technical specs, as well as the feel in my large hands) except the price. I ended up splurging and getting the D750 - justifying it with it's still below $2000!. I'm very happy with my purchase.... Show More

It's an outstandingly useful feature that I wasn't even looking for when I bought the camera. I learned film on a Pentax K1000 and digital on a Nikon D90. When I outgrew the D90, I got a K-3. I live in a desert, and I like to shoot landscapes in dusty conditions and waterfalls at close range, so the weather-sealing has been a big boon. One thing I missed about the D90: its compatibility with the Nikon CLS. Nikon D750 -- First Impressions

Dec 13, 2015

As the owner of an antique Nikon SLR film camera, I got interested in this modern D750 camera because it is also full-frame, got a high 90% rating on a professional review site, yet does not have the typical high price tag for a professional camera. First impression is that this camera with 24-120 mm f/4 kit lens is heavy. While the body may weigh less than comparable cameras, the lens has a lot of glass (filter diameter 77 mm).
