Excellent Printer

Feb 10, 2017

I previously owned the Pixma Pro 9500 Mark II printer. That printer was wonderful however it was always a pain feeding thicker paper into the manual feed. The printer died recently after six years so I needed a replacement. Initially I was going to buy a cheaper printer but started reading the reviews of the Prograf Pro-1000 and decided to take the plunge. I find that the best results come using their print module Canon Print Studio Pro. When I s... Show More

Great prints...some negatives

Jan 27, 2016

The printer arrived intact! Easy install. Prints great from Lightroom and Photoshop. Spyder Pro 5 and Spider Print set up went well. Using the Canon print software was not good. I could not get it to run as plug-in on Photoshop CS6. It did run in Lightroom but trying to determine page sizes and layouts was difficult. Lightroom limits page size to 23.39 inches and using 17 x 25 inch paper you can't center the print. I don't recall Canon saying the... Show More

Excellent Printer

There's little doubt that there is no finer printer available. I have been an Epson user as well, but decided, recently, to go all Canon. The printer puts together easily, but you're better off checking YouTube for proper head installation. The included instructions are mediocre, at best. The print drivers are still not as good as Epson drivers, but I am now staying with Canon because the Epson machines are too delicate. I have had mechanical pro... Show More

Fabulous Printer

Jul 17, 2018

I wanted to get back into home printing and decided to baby step into it by first buying a Pro-100. The results were excellent but it printed a tint on BW images and matte results were mediocre. I decided to just jump in to the Pro-1000, and I've been wholly impressed. The Pro-1000 makes flawless prints and has no color casts in BW printing. Matte and fine art paper output is stellar. I have not seen any issues with copious amounts of ink usage d... Show More

Pinnacle!

Jun 14, 2018

I used to work in a studio/print lab that exclusively used Epson - because our vendor pushed them on us. Epson's print heads were awful - at least, back then they were (3800 line). And, so, I've not been back to Epson, personally or professionally, on my own. Canon's strategy of offering rebates for printers along side camera sales is genius. I love printing and my first experience with Canon's printers was their Pro-100, which I got fo... Show More

very very good printer

Jul 11, 2018

this is my 5th printer in about 20 years, the first 2 were Epson and then I had 3 Canon. The main reason I switched and staid with canon photo printers is because I don't print daily, actually at times I don't print for weeks and Epson printers needs to be used constantly to minimize head clogging while I never had a problem, so far, with canon printers. I got the PRO-1000 about a month ago and I have to say it's very very good. Not great on... Show More

Simply Amazing!

Dec 27, 2018

I wanted to control the processing of my images from shutter to print, and the Canon Pro 1000 has made that a reality. Allowing CaptureOne to control the printer with ICC Profiles specific to the printer and the paper (have done the same with LR and PS), has given me the ability to produce the most amazing results...far better than sending out my images to a professional print shop and hoping that what comes back is what I saw on the screen...nev... A Wonderful Printer - Highly Recommended!

I have been using the ImagePROGRAF PRO-1000 printer that I bought at B&H for the past two weeks. It was very easy to set up and begin using. The instructions were clear with extra detail available to download as a PDF file. I am using it with a USB connection, but it can be setup as a networked printer or used wirelessly. The prints produced are beautiful, detailed and accurate with excellent blacks. It's very easy to print with a variety of paper... Show More

Canon PRO 1000 review

Jan 19, 2020

I've had my PRO- 1000 for about a month now and so far so good. I bought the PRO-1000 to economize on ink compared to my PRO-100. With the rebate and a set of full-capacity ink tanks included, it seemed like a good deal. Setup was straight-forward, although it took me a few hours to discover that someone at Canon left the software set to print two pages per paper sheet. Like the PRO-100, the PRO-1000 handles heavy stock well, although it would be... Show More

A learning process

Jul 24, 2018

I have been using Epson printers for over ten years, with the last one being the 3880, which I had for about six years and loved. That printer was slowly dying and it wasn't worth it to have it fixed. I knew I would have to replace it soon and I fully expected to get another Epson, the p800, but I found a great deal on the Canon that I just couldn't pass up. I have had the printer for about two months now and like it but I am still getting to kno... Show More

EZ to set up and excellent print quality

Mar 23, 2017

I am using this printer to replace my aging Epson 2880 printer. I must admit that I was not looking forward to the set up process. Once I got the heavy beast into position, I thought I would face the set up challenge. To my great delight, the on screen prompts led the entire process where the printer took over and all but set itself up. The next big challenge was installing the drivers and setting up the ICC profiles for my papers. I was again sh... Show More

Amazing photo printer

Aug 26, 2019

Many questions were brought up about how much ink it uses. I can only say that as far as ink usage with my experience a 5x7 uses between .320 to .450 ml depending on the photo. A 8.5 x 11 uses around .650 ml. I have had the printer a little over 2 weeks, and have printed about 100 5x7s and 12 8x10s. Ink levels are slightly below half. My maintenance cartridge is at the same level. I try to use it every day, and have only heard a clean 1 time, aft... Show More

Why this Printer and not another? 80 ml ink 12 inks that are always on. My past Cannon's haven't had any problems clogging, even when not used for a month or two. Cut sheets up to 17x22. Easy transition from competition

Dec 5, 2018

I have used the Epson P800 for a few semesters at school, so the transition to the Canon was pretty easy. Having had that experience, I can say that the Canon is by far the superior printer that produces superior results. Better still, it transitions from matte to glossy INSTANTLY!!! Moreover, it uses a lot LESS black ink to do so. As for the results, I can only say that the color reproduction is amazing when the correct ICC Profiles are used. I... Show More

Only had this printer set-up for a week, I have printed a few photos that came out great. This printer is a beast, very heavy; you will have to have help putting it in place. Jul 11, 2016

My biggest gripe about this printer is the ink alerts. When the cartridge gets low on ink you an alert. Fair enough. Problem is the ink level never seems to update much after that. You never really know how much ink is left in the cartridge. You can do several (many?) prints after the alert comes on but you're on your own. The printer will not keep you informed of the real ink level. If you change the cartridge when the alert comes on you are thr... Show More

As a Fine Art Photography teacher, I have owed and used a number of different wide format printers over the years from HP, Epson, and Canon. They all did a decent job; however, all of them definitely had their issues. Epson was rather high (and continuing) maintenance, the HP was a workhorse which finally bit the dust, and the Canon (Pixma Pro 10) that I purchased for my home was the most problem free of the three brands in terms of print quality... The printer is simply fantastic. As an upgrade to an ageing Pro 9000 II, I took the plunge into this hefty unit, and I could not be more happy that I did. Every single comparison print I've done has proved that the investment was worth it--the improvements (especially in B&W) are substantial.
