I'm going to replace all of my 4 and 5TB portable Seagate (non-password protectable) drives with these because they're so easy to password protect! If connecting the drive to a new computer, unlocking your drive is as easy as putting your password in the pop up window that shows up! Love these drives! Just wish they made a 5TB version like Seagate offers!

4 TB My Passport
Have many back up drives for files and photos. This 4 TB consolidates some of my 1 TB drives. The 3.0 USB is quite quick, secure via encryption and/or password. Can move it from computer-to-computer with totally reliable ability. I travel to Europe often and this is the perfect traveling companion for file, etc. For the price I probably will buy another one.

Great Product
I bought this to carry my photo library as I travel. The 4TB will last me a good while, and the weight of it makes it easy to throw in the camera bag. I have a tendency to leave things behind on trips, so the bright yellow color comes in handy. I also like the locking feature of the Hard Drive. If I do lose it, my images are secure. Would buy again.

Great price, form factor and capacity
This drive is formatted for PC, and I have a MAC. As a result, I had to reformat it before using. Other than that, easy to use. Also, I don't see the value of the additional WD backup and security software, and typically choose not to install it. I use other software, for a variety of products, and not just for WD - but this software works on WD.

Love the Compact Size
I got this 4TB Passport Drive as part of acanera Lens Kit through B&H, and Ive got to say, so far, it is awesome. I love the fact that it is only around 4.5 x 3.5 in size. It is extremely portable, and yet is a beast for storage. It is exactly what I needed, and Im so glad that B&H offered it in a kit with my Canon 24-70 f2.8L ii lens purchase.

I would buy this WD hard drive again.
I'm happy to this point with this unit. Size is nice compared to the unit I replaced which was a WD. So small you can't even tell it's there. Had a few problems setting it up but they were more my fault than the unit. Price at the time was very good. Service of B&H is excellent when buying from them. Items arrive so fast I can't believe it.

Goof machine, very short on User Instructions
Needs detailed instructions for use. Mine had none,. I tried to do Mirror Image backup from Carbonite on to it for about 110 gigs of my laptop data. It did not do it. Short of calling WD there is no option to resolve this. I have reviewed the WD website based info and the FAQs. I can save normal backups easily, so the drive is working fine.

Extremely reliable in a less-than-perfect environment
The building in which I've installed a couple of these routers has brownouts, bad grounding, voltage fluctuations and occasionally problems with broadband signal integrity. The N56U is very good about ignoring and recovering from such problems. It is also full of features and the range is acceptable in a building with pretty thick walls.

LOTS of memory in a handy, compact form
I ditched the included software and just started using it as an external drive. It connected perfectly, no hitches. And I loaded up a 630 Gbyte ZIP file backup onto it. It was relatively speedy, though it took about 6-7 hours to load that 630 Gbyte ZIP file from another external drive to it. Nonetheless, I'm very pleased with it so far.

Fast and quiet, what more can you want?
I bought two of these to put together a Raspberry Pi NAS using Open Media Vault, using the drives in a software RAID. Transfer speeds are quick, drives are quiet enough for where I use them. Can't speak to reliability as I've only used them for a couple of weeks. Pricing was great, better than the big-river-name store and no sales tax!

Large capacity is great but...
It doesn't work on some of my peripheral USB ports. So my guess, with the large capacity, it also requires more power to drive it. I had to move around to a different USB port to get it to connect. Never had that problem with WD 2TB drives. Maybe, it hits the ceiling on what USB port can power. I'll stay with 2TB drives in the future.

It Does the Job just fine!
I have been using WD for quite a while for photos and video. Never had any issues. Also have some G Drives for video editing, and guess what's inside? You guessed it... WD drives. So, they work just fine for me. Easy to format for PC and MAC. There is nothing fancy about them, but when something works as advertised, that is a 5 star!

Mixed
I bought these drives and loved them. Sadly, 5 months in one has already failed. I don't even work off that drive often so it really bummed me out. I'm in the process of trying to save the data off it which is pretty darn expensive in my book. I want to love these drives. I'm now just paranoid that my others are going to fail.

tiny and useful
The pliers are tiny, but of course they are because this tool is tiny. The plain and serrated blades actually work. I like the ruggedly designed bottle opener, despite the little thing's overall not-so-rugged appearance. The screwdrivers are useful, but not great. The pliers, blades and bottle opener give this tool its value.

WD 1TB Passport
The drive when connected to a USB port works fine. The software that needs to be installed is not easy since there is no written instructions. Furthermore, after installation of the drivers, it still requires downloading and installing updates. Plan on spending at least several hours if you want to use the features claimed.

Excellent product
I bought the 4TB My Passport to move large files from an older portable hard drive (a WD Elements). This is my second My Passport and it provides a compact, reliable and fast storage. Transfers are seamless and access to files and folders is speedy. B&H Photo also is consistently reliable with its fast delivery. 5 stars!

Very nice external drive
This is a really solid feeling external storage drive. Completely quiet. Extremely fast load speeds. Not exactly "plug n' play". If you have any installation problems/questions, Western Digital support is via emails directing you to related articles, sites, and fixes, but they do get the job done with a little diligence.

Good for backups, slow for a drive.
Good, simple backup system, but transfers are slow. This is really a portable drive that has good basic backup software on it. However, I've been a little surprised about the slowness of the data transfer rate. 400 Gb took over 2 hours. Still, for a simple, no-extra-power-cords backup solution, this does fit the bill.

Very good items, But 3 items and 3 boxes and 3 fees for delivery in canada I will choose a new store next time. Delivery by DHL is very bad. High custom administration fee, no tracking system, , Since Purolator is not available anymore from them I will buy elsewhere. I am sad for that since B&H is a good store.

saved my life
Alright, so it didn't actually save my life, but it came in very handy during two power failures, one lasting seven hours. It's not an industrial size backup supply, but allowed us to keep our computers, phones and hotspot powered all day. It would be a handy thing to have in the trunk for camping or picnics.

Amazing Audio / Video Programing Toolkit
Max is the standard for creating generative audio / video and interactive installation and Ableton Live Devices, you can literally do anything with this program. The learning curve is steep but there is a large community and tons of support, tutorials to help you figure it out if you are determined enough.

good hard drive but...
It works reasonably fast but only in a computer connected to the internet, something nobody tells you nor is it explained anywhere. Being online seems to be the norm, but the most knowledgeable experts tell you that one of the essential security measures is sometimes NOT being connected to the internet.

For mac and PC
Initially, I did not realize this was a hard drive designed for a windows platform, and was going to return it. The folks at B & H were very helpful in directing me to tutorials to reformat the drive for a Mac. Since then the drive has performed flawlessly, is fast and compact, everything i'd wanted.

Plug and Play
The product arrived on time. It came as advertised and it's easy to use. Just plug it in and move your data over to it. It also has software to allow you to backup your information. I haven't played around with it yet. But if you just want a good external drive to backup your information, this is it!
