I was super excited the moment I received the box. It only took 5days for them to ship to BRUNEI. Thank you for the excellent service Fdx ( I was expecting more than a week) soo im super excited. Regarding the HD, well its heavier and thicker than i thought because the previous one ( WD My Passport) is lighter and slimmer. It works well on my windows. Thank you B&H , because of 'you' I got CHEAPER and EXCELLENT hard drive. 3

I dont lose this one in the shade.
Typical great service from B&H. I hooked up the drive to a long cord and it took a while (and advice from a technician) to realize the cord would not handle the load, so I could not use the drive until I plugged it directly into the computer. I am glad to report the drive runs like a champ. No complaints at all. I needed a contrasting color so this drive would stand out from all the other stuff on the table. Orange works.

love it with one minor goof
The 5th one I own. I love them. Never any problems & no issues. The one goof I made buying this time around was purchasing the PC version instead of a MAC version. Simply had to figure out how to reformat it which worked out just fine as now it is formatted so it can be read by both MACs and PCs. I use these to store pictures from sports photography business on them and as well as using two as back ups stored off site.

I love this drive!
I've purchase many drives over the years for working with audio and video as well as for storage. I formatted this drive for Mac OS Sierra and put two TBs of files on it relatively quickly and without a problem. I've not tried to edit audio or video on it yet but feel confident it can handle it and intend to try soon. So far I love this drive! Huge storage, portable, fast transfer rates, wakes fast, and color coded too!

Not Working
I have tried every suggestion found in a search of the Internet, and I am unable to get this equipment to show up in Computer, so I can use it to save files. I hope it will work on a different computer, so my money was not wasted, but, even after downloading all of the software on the drive, it did not work. The software can find it, Device Manager can find it, but it is still unusable on this Win 7 computer.

Good drive, poor activity light/cable placement
The drive is physically small and requires no power brick. It is faster than the USB 2.0 drive it replaced. It is working well so far. One star deducted because of the silly design of putting the activity light on the same side of the drive as the USB 3.0 connector. This makes cable management difficult if you want to be able to see the activity light. The cable should be on the back and the light on the front.

Works great and seems to be a reliable portable.
I have 2 of these, one I had since this model was released and it worked great for years until it was accidentally dropped from about a 5 foot height. I purchased a new one to replace the old one because it had been so reliable for so long before that. I travel a lot and this drive goes with me everywhere I go. I put my movie collection on it and any data I need for the current trip. Its never let me down...

Works great, perfect size.
Quick and simple. Plugged it into my Win7 desktop though a USB 3.0 expansion card and it was immediately ready to go. The transfer speeds have been good with had no problems or hiccups playing large hi-def media files directly from it. The size is also great for portability (approx 3 x 4.25 x 0.75). I use mine to back up my entire work system (so I can grab it quickly in an emergency), and also for travel.

High quality, reliable portable storage.
I've been buying WD drives of various sizes for nearly 20 years and never once has any of them ever failed. Some I have actively used for nearly a decade before upgrading to a higher capacity model. The last thing I want to have happen is a back-up drive failure and the risk of losing years of photos, videos and other data. That is why I stick with WD. Consistently high reliability at a reasonable price.

Great product
I bought a black one and a white one to use as back ups. They are both great and were easy to format. For some reason though, the black one does not always register right away on my computer when I plug it in. Sometimes it will right away, sometimes I have to unplug and plug it back in. I also love the tiny rubber feet on the bottom that keep it from slipping all over my desk. Overall great product.

Great External Drive
I love this drive. First the storage on it is great...4TB. The size is remarkably small for a drive with that much space. Makes finding a place for it next to my laptop easy. Transfer between my computer and the drive is very fast. Connects to my computer directly via USB cable so there is no line cord involved. That makes the space it takes up even less and allows the drive to run completely cool.

Another flawless USB hard drive purchase from B&H
My intended usage is for TimeMachine-based backups of 2 Mac Mini computers. It is my primary backup disk augmented by a 2nd external hard drive from a second manufacturer purchased at a different time. Good: 1) It works as expected out of the box 2) Pricing 3) B&H consistently delivers on-time without issues Inconvenient but expected: it assumes that it would be used in a Windows environment.

EXCELLENT VALUE
I'm very pleased that my purchase was expedited at no charge and arrived in several days. It is working very well and has changed file transfers that used to take 5 minutes or more, now take 30 seconds. USB3 is amazing. My only regret is that B&H offers the same thing in black for $10 less. Either I didn't notice or the markdown followed my purchase. I nearly bought another one in black.

Great Value
My current 2TB. Is a WD. It has been great so far and that is why I went again with a western digital. As I backed up, my current hard drive I was impressed with the speed of this drive. It also looks much better in life compared to the pictures on the site. I really wanted the metal edition but since this was the only one I stock, I got this instead not disappointed with the purchase.

Hard Drive is Fine. WD Software is AWFUL
If WD would make this Drive a Plug and Play out of the box, it would be fine. I struggled with the included software and could NOT get it to work. Spent 45 minutes on the phone with Product Support in India and HE GAVE UP TOO! Had me downloading 3rd-party software to try to make this work. No go. I finally used Windows 10 backup and I suppose it is working. WD - Get your act together!

Didn't work!
I needed this in a hurry so I could open up storage space on my device before leaving on a trip. It arrived, I spent two hours trying to get it installed, and then called the WD support line. The Passport was vibrating, I got error messages ("the device is not plugged in") and my computer did not recognize it. The support person advised that it was defective and I should exchange it.

WD never disappoints me.
I always choose WD for portable hard drives. The design is fancy and solid. 4TB is enough for my daily use, storing and transferring my raw photos. USB 3.0 can reach 60MB/s when it links with my host PC. One of my friends has a desktop external hard-drive but he prefers my little WD since his one has fans and can be noisy at night. Never try to use its backup/secure software.

great value for the price
this is the fourth wd portable drive I have purchased. I am a photographer and have two elements I use to store images. image files consume a great deal of storage, slowing down your primary computer. this is the second passport drive, purchased for my wife who is a writer. it will be used to store manuscripts, spoken word materials, performance videos and other documents.

Previous versions were sleeker in appearance, with rounded edges. This has a artificial-feeling plastic with sharp(er) corners. Weird kind of retro feel. Doesn't work with older versions of Windows, like my previous drives did. Remember a solid 500 gb are going to be wasted so it's not a full 4 tb. Would buy again given good price and size but don't love this incarnation.

First Use is fine
First use of the drive is fine. Functions as expected and is speedy enough. At 4TB and self USB powered, it is a convenient size for portability. I particularly like the bright yellow color offering. It makes distinguishing it from other dedicated portable drive very easy. Of course with only two weeks of use, it's way to soon to appraise durability, So far, so good.

Excellent Quality and Reliable
First, let me say that I got this item with speed from B&H for a Christmas gift - they were all too ready to ship it quickly to me - I received it on Christmas Eve, Great!!! Functional Little Drive
Two things I really like about this drive. The transfer speed using USB 3.0 and the security feature. Security is quick & simple and functions without first going through the long process of encrypting the drive partitions. I do not use the backup feature so cannot comment on that. I have had nothing but good experiences with all my WD drives. Can't beat B&H either.

Small and powerful
This is a must for a home computer setup. One great feature is that it does not need an extra power supply and it works with the current drawn from a USB connection. I installed into my Router's 3.0 USB connection and now, my two computers can see it and make the back up as scheduled. It is small with a great capacity, for under a hundred buck. Not bad at all.

Photo Storage Champ
I use this drive as my primary for loading and storing all my raw photos. The portability lets me access the photos on any of my computers for downloading or editing. I connect the drive to the laptop and desk computers to make backups. When I first downloaded my 6500 raw images to the WD drive the transfer only took 20 minutes - lightening fast in my experience.
