Perfect and Reliable!

Nov 7, 2015

I lost my old quick-release plate, this one was the perfect replacement. It screws on and off really easily and clips in tightly to the tripod.

Worth every $ paid

Oct 21, 2015

I bought this for my Nikon D80. This tripod stands above the others. It is worth every $ paid for its purchase. And this place is where I have done most of my purchases.

Great tripod for the money!

Sep 11, 2015

I use the Manfrotto with a Canon HFS100 camcorder that is piggybacked onto an XLR microphone preamp. The weight is no problem for this sturdy tripod and the adjustments of the head are super-smooth. No levels are included on the head, but this is a realtively minor inconvenience.

Great relatively lightweight tripod

Aug 31, 2015

No complaints so far, it is lightweight as expected with aluminum. Not as light as carbon fiber, but for the price you can't beat it. Great tripod for my mirrorless and small dslr cameras.

Solid Little Tripod

Aug 24, 2015

I have a number of tripods including a couple of Manfrottos. The purpose for this one was to provide a decent platform for my Nikons while backpacking in the back country. So the tripod's weight needed to be balanced against its stability and features. I have the Manfrotto Compact Action which is technically lighter but the ball head is frustrating. This Compact Advanced provides solid, predictable control on both the vertical and horizontal axis while providing a solid platform.

Great compact tripod

Aug 8, 2015

This tripod is great for taking out for shooting when you need something portable: It folds up to a nice short length, fits inside its small bag, and is very light to carry around and easy to set up quickly. It is nice to be able as well to adjust the legs to different equal lengths and to easily bimanually adjust the head. The bag has a drawstring which can be used as a shoulder strap to carry on your shoulder.

Fine Italian Design

Aug 5, 2015

Spent hours researching tripods for travel and came up with this choice. Fits on my bicycle or over my shoulder in the carrying case. It's well constructed, fairly lightweight, and very well designed. Everything you need in a portable tripod, the fact that it doesn't have a sight level means little to me, since i can tell when the camera is level. The overall height of tripod fully extended makes it much nicer that what I had been using. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this tripod to anyone looking in the $ range.

Simple and Beautiful

This tripod has been the most beneficial. It is sturdy and dependable. This is easy to store and carry to various job sites. This is simple enough to set up in such a short amount of time.

Very useful and a great buy for a student photographer

Jul 24, 2015

I've used it in completing almost all my photography class assignments. Small and light enough for a petite person like me to carry around, yet very stable even at maximum extension. Easy to handle, and it looks good as well. The only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 is because the two separate handles are not always the most convenient or easy to manage. B&H services was great on this first purchase. Will order from B&H again.

Good value

Jul 16, 2015

I have two tripods, one that weighs 6 pounds and works well under all conditions especially when there is wind, but it's a pain to carry around. The Manfrotto tripod I am reviewing weighs a lot less and folds up nicely, hence good for taking on hikes, etc. I feel the value is there however if I had a wish list it would be: 1. pre-tension on the head, if the handles are loose the camera flops and 2. a way to hang a rock or some other heavy object from the center of the tripod to make it more stable outdoors. Other than those two items I am a happy camper.

Great tripod for price

Jul 1, 2015

I teach journalism at the high school level and have students working with gear all year. Manfrotto tripods are a great value for basic functionality. They are easy for anyone to figure out and set up, light weight for mobility, and get the job done. Of course, a better head for video would be nice, but for the price, we make this work.

Lightweight, but doesn't properly fit all Manfrotto heads

Jun 25, 2015

Lightweight, but I found it does not properly fit every Manfrotto head that uses this style plate. This lightweight version (200LT-PL) plate must be slightly bigger in size than its aluminum cousin, as it does not clear the locking lever even when the locking lever is fully released. I had to use a small straight-slot screwdriver to pry the plate from the head.

Great compact tripod.

Jun 19, 2015

Used mostly for shooting landscapes on the CA coast, long exposure shots, and in my ultimate selfie project. Folds very compact, also the center bar slides out to make it even smaller. Fits into a regular size backpack quite easily. The legs are very sturdy even when fully extended. The camera mount rotates in every conceivable direction. I can't think of a thing that I'd change.

Sweet!

The height adjustment cannot be beat. Easy adjustable tilts in all directions. Only thing- the bag shouldn't be white?!?!? The tripod can be wiped down-but not a nylon bag.

Fustrating & Infuriating

Apr 26, 2015

Set up directions are in a Fustrating & Infuriating small font size as are the electronic drawings which are themselves in a difficult to read and understand black & white instead of color. Quick release plate is too small to use on the larger Manfrotto tripods. There's no way to adapt a fluid head to this tripod. Manfrotto offers essentially no customer support - takes them 2 weeks to answer an email.

I was looking for a lightweight tripod that would be comfortable to carry around all day. My other tripod is rock solid and heavy, and it carries like a rock as well. Nice lightweight, had a decent head on it too, overall its a pretty good buy. I am sure I will be carrying it around a lot more than I was with the old one.
