Compact and rugged ... Woohoo!
I bought this for my niece. She's just starting out, and I wanted to get her a tripod that would grow with her. I purchased another brand first; it was less money, and it turned out to be a piece of ______! Anyway, I've always had luck with Manfrotto, and this little number stands up. It's really compact (so it travels well), and it's very sturdy. The three way head allows for still and some video shooting, with a steady hand. A clever pan handle design allows this head to fit in the included padded bag. Very pleased, and so is my niece.

Solid Mounting System
This Manfrotto quick release system is great. I have two releases one on my tripod and one on the monopod. I've put plates on both my cameras - Nikon D800 with battery pack and the Pentax 645z which has two mounting points. I also bought one for the Sigma 70-200 lens mount. A very stable mounting system for all even with the weight involved.

Great tripod
I am really enjoying this tripod. The only thought was I thinking that it came with an extra plate. It didn't so this is a little frustrating especially when changing cameras.

Love this!
My first tripod and it is a winner....very easy to use and love that heights are adjustable for each leg to make it easier to shoot on an unlevel surface.

nice little tripod
I have, for a lot of years, used an old Vivitar 2220 that is strong like bull. Unfortunately, it is also heavy like bull. Regardless, I have hauled that thing nearly all over the world. It's a good tripod but I have long wanted something lighter and better for travel. And it better be tough to handle the rough and tumble world of travel. Enter the Manfrotto. I like how the pan head (I prefer pan heads over ball heads)folds up compact and the legs... Show More

NICE IMPROVEMENTS ON PREVIOUS MODEL
Great tripod head. Bought it to replace an 804RC2 that got run over by a car, not a pretty story except that the tripod survived unscathed. The collapsible handles are great, especially for packing in up. It fits with the mounting plate from my old head, which is convenient for 2 cameras or for a camera and a telephoto lens. And it's pretty light.

Fairly good and solid tripod, but has its flaws
I, like many, originally bought a cheap tripod to start with. The cheap tripod is wobbly and sticky, so one day when I start moving from photos to video, I happen to buy this, thinking the higher price and very well-known brand name mean I'm moving way up. That is largely true; the Manfrotto Compact Advanced makes your flimsy plasticky cheap tripods hard to go back to. It extends to a nice height, the center column can be removed and flipped for ... Well worth it
I bought this so I can keep both my camera's ready to mount on my tripod. It's well made and reasonably priced.

Broke almost immediately!
I did not put it through anything out of the ordinary and it broke within the first five minutes of use! One of the arms which adjusts the heads just popped off. Maybe I got a lemon.

not for scopes
I bought this tripod to use it with my spotting scope. It does not work for this because if you unlock the pan then the whole scope leans to the side.

So So tripod
The tow handles are difficult to operate. The camera is not steady as the second handle will not hold well. Also my camera fell off two times.

Works as expected
I like this stype of l=plate for it's ease of use when mounting the camera to the monopod or tripod. It is not as precise as the Arca-Swiss type, but that is what makes it fast to use.

Love it. Very convenient!!!
This tripod works just great for me, I'm 6'3 and I don't have to bend over at all to use the view finder. It's very light and also well built.

Does what's it supposed to..
I was skeptical about buying this since the only thing it lacked was a way to see if this is compatible with a certain trip make/model. Since it was barely 15$, I took the hit and just bought and I am super happy. It's reliable, fits my tripod and does its job.

I would recommend it to everyone.
Very easy to handle, great flexibility. Lightweight, which was very important to me. Just used it to photograph wildflowers in the California desert.

Not recommended
Very poorly made. I know $100 isn't much to spend on a product but this thing is LBT durable at all.

Great product
Rather than removing and installing on different lenses and cameras, I purchased 5 of these items to keep permanently attached to each time. Great product to go with a great tripod.

A review that's (not quite) on the level...
Good, light, small travel tripod. As noted in other reviews, the lack of a built in level is one big drawback. I travel with a tiny level, but it's an awkward way to make sure the shot is set properly. The big upside... it packs easily in a carry-on bag, and it straps easily to the side of my camera backpack. In short I'd buy it again

OK for light-weight cameras
Bought this for use with a video camera. The two pan/tilt handles take a lot getting used to if your camera has any weight to it. If you loosen the handle too quickly to pan, the tilt shifts very easily. Works well for more light-weight cameras, though.

Exactly what I needed to work with my camera, binoculars.
I was reluctant but truly surprised at the product. Works perfectly, is very flexible and the exact match for my use with multiple cameras and binoculars.
