Does what its suppose to at a good price
I am using this to back up my NAS. My first attempt resulted in a I/O error, but think that was more an NAS problem than with this drive. Got a response from WD support no problem, cleaned the drive and reloaded with back-up data no problem.

WD continues to impress
This product works as advertised. For the cost, you cannot beat this 3TB hard drive. Works great for desktop computers. This hard drive transfers files really fast utilizing USB 3.0.

Good HDD
I've been using this disc for about a month only and so far it's been working just like it should be. Fast USB 3.0 connection. It's qiet, takes little space on my desk. I will probably buy more in the future.

Purchased two of these now
I purchased one of these for back up purposes in the past and it hasn't failed me. Now I have purchased another and trust it to reliably back up my files. USB 3.0 is a plus, the price is great, it's fairly small, doesn't have a super annoying light indicator, and simply just works.

Solid back up drive; can't exFat
As long as you're looking to use this drive for back up and not much else (as I am), this drive will suit you just fine. I primarily am dealing with large video files and don't work across platforms, but do like the option of being able to access drives from any computer so the lack of exFat formatting is a tad frustrating, but it's not my primary drive, so things aren't dire.

Good capacity drive
Formatting for Mac was pretty smooth. No issues so far after about a week of continuous use. Runs quiet. Will need to see how reliable it is after in a year or two.

USB 3.0 fast
Using the USB 3.0 capabilities makes this hard drive really fast. It is a bit larger than the WD Elements 1 and 1.5Tb drives, but stands up vertical so footprint is smaller on desk. This drive takes a second to wake up, which also seems different than the older Element drives which didn't seem to have a 'sleep mode'. Easy,works straight out of the box
I buy a new external drive every couple years to use for backing up my data. The size is a plus in this one, and I like the styling of the case. I only gave it four stars since I don't know how long it will last. Absolutely partition it first; it's a lot easier to organize your stuff!

Good price
This is the second one I purchased. The main deciding factor was the price. I take many pictures with my DSLR and need the room. 3TB for $ is pretty good. These drives tend to be on the slower side but I am not looking for speed.

Good but make partitions first
Make sure to make partitions before use. Ubuntu user should upgrade to 14 otherwise it doesn't work.

Easy straightforward drive
Simple as plug and use! This drive doesn't seem very fast in transferring but for what it does, it does exactly what I want it to do - provide extra storage for extra files and backing up, especially my photography!! Stands alone nicely without taking up too much space and has no complicated setup. Would love to purchase another when the time comes for more storage space! Always trusted WD!!

So far so good on Ubuntu HTPC via USB3
Hooked this up to ubuntu via usb3 port, formatted via Disk utility and set up a cron job to rsync my media folder every night. Works like a charm.

Very pleased
Have not used this drive long, but am very happy with it. Plugged it into my Win7 computer and was off and running. Speedy transfer rate. I normally swear by WD hard drives, hope this one is as dependable as the others I have. Great deal, too. Would purchase again in a heartbeat.

Works as Expected
I use it as an external drive connected to Apple Airport Extreme for Time Machine backups. I had to initially connect it to my MacBook Pro through USB to reformat it for Mac. Also split it in two halves, one is for Time Machine and the other for everything else. Once that was done, I connected it to Airport, and it works just fine since. The value for money is very good, and I like WD brand.

Relief = 3 TB Backup by WD
I'm a photographer and had over a gig of images that weren't backed up other than on my main machine... my drive was 75% full and was getting the dreaded blue screen of death on my machine fairly regularly... I always stressed out about losing that pictures. FINALLY I got this drive from WD... 3TB, and it's super easy - plug-n-play. NEVER should have waiting this long!
